TechMom
I just bought a bulk lot of canning jars at a local thrift, and after doing an inventory, found that quite a few pints and quarts with the glass lids were included. There's no place I've found that sells that type of jars, (not yet anyway)and was wondering if I'd be better off trying to sell them (when sold one at a time, they're always more expensive than regular jars when I see them at thrifts) of should hold on to them and order some gaskets to fit. Darlene
I have no experience with these types of jars, but I'm sure someone else does. Link to comment
Violet
They are only recommended as storage for dry goods, not for canning any more. They are more of an old novelty type jar. I would either use them for dried things or sell them. Link to comment
Peg
In my experience with jars, generally modern lids and rings will fit on old jars (but be careful.) If you feel the urge to do canning with these jars I wouldn't recommend pressure canning. I have used old blue jars for hot water bath canning, just make sure they aren't chipped or cracked.
