Michelle_3kds
Aaaah, I misread the directions and dumped the sugar into the pot with my already crushed grapes. I was supposed to let the juice sit in the fridge overnight to settle out tartric (?) crystals and then add the sugar. Will it still work? Dang, kickin' myself!! Michelle Link to comment
Virginia
It might work or not. My sister canned some peach jelly from peach juice she had already canned with sugar in it. However, she did not measure the sugar when canning the juice, just did to taste. She is advernturesome, so she went ahead and made jelly, just added what she thought was the needed amount of sugar. It worked, the jelly jelled, but I would not have tried it. Link to comment
Violet
Part of it will depend upon what kind of pectin you are using. If you use powd. then you add the sugar after the pectin, so it probably would not set. If you use liquid, then you add the sugar, then the pectin last. It does make a difference. Link to comment
Michelle_3kds
Well, I rsponded a few days ago...guess it got lost. Anyway, it turned out OK, a little soft, but the flavor-WOW! So much better than the store! I'm keeping it in the fridge just in case. Link to comment
