Denanna
HI, I have blackberries I need to make jam with but I don't have jelly jars and don't want to fill quart jars with the jam. Is it okay to only fill the quart jars part way and can them(water bath)? Thanks, De Link to comment
Cat
It's not a good idea. You'll have WAY too much air trapped in there and it just isn't a good thing. Could you freeze the berries until you get better jars? Pints would work just fine. Link to comment
Violet
Sorry, no. You must fill the jars. Otherwise you will not be able to get the air out of the jars and they can still mold. I agree, just freeze the berries. Link to comment
ScrubbieLady
I vote for freezing the berries also. I do it frequently when I have too much coming in and not enough time to deal with it. I make jelly and sometimes I just juice the berries and freeze in plastic containers in the amount needed for one batch of jelly. Link to comment
