YYY
Hi Everybody, I have a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. I've been making juice and freezing it. Can this juice be canned? Thanks YYY Link to comment
Cat
I can't imagine why not. As long as you are careful to pressure can low-acid juices, or add enough acidic juices to make them safe for boiling water bath. Calling Violet!!! Link to comment
Canned Nerd
Unfortunately there is little benefit, health-wise, in keeping juice from an extractor since the beneficial enzymes are gone after 15-30 minutes. Such juices need to be consumed within that time period to be of any benefit to the body. I have a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Pro and would love to even keep the juice in the refrigerator for a few days, but it doesn't work. You need a 'masticating' or steam juicer that doesn't tear open the cells if you want a result with a longer storage. Unfortunately, even with those, the canning process would kill those beneficial enzymes. In the stores you will only see refrigerated juices. Link to comment
Violet
It would depend upon what is in the juice. I would stick with freezing, as even tomato juice must have bottled lemon juice added. I would only have to guess how long to process juices not listed in the safe guidelines. Link to comment
