TurtleMama
I happened upon a canning recipe for bananas.... http://www.theprudenthomemaker.com/index.php/canned-bananas This is a great website, but I am not sure about this recipe. Is this safe? Violet? Quote Link to comment
Violet
NO ! Only banana jam, since it also has lots of sugar to help preserve it, along with lemon juice. Please, do not trust websites like that where there is no one who has food preservation training. They just make up things and figure they are safe. Quote Link to comment
TurtleMama
Eep! I hope nothing ever goes wrong with her bananas...I think she has nine kids! I will steer clear of the canned bananas (drat, that would have been an awesome thing had it been safe!) and see if I can find a Ball recipe for banana jam. I don't remember seeing one in my cookbook. I don't suppose you can use banana jam to make banana bread??? LOL Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
I figured it was too good to be true. They looked so good too. There is a recipe somewhere on here for banana jam (I think Violet posted it) but I couldn't find it. Maybe she will chime back in. I'll keep looking though. I know it's here. Quote Link to comment
