The WE2's
This makes a wonderful tasing instant pudding, that you can use your favorite flavors and colors in. Enjoy! HOMEMADE INSTANT PUDDING YOU’LL NEED: Medium sized mixing bowl ½ Cup granulated sugar ½ cup instant milk 1/3 cup of INSTANT CLEAR GEL Must be instant … available only at Amish stores or online. 2 cups of cold water 1 teaspoon of your favorite food flavoring (vanilla etc.) 2 squirts of your favorite food coloring Wisk In your bowl, mix your sugar, instant milk and instant clear gel. Wish all the dry ingredients until well blended. In your cup of cold water, add: Your favorite flavoring and your food coloring Blend Add to dry mixture, wisking continuously until it forms your pudding. Cover with clear wrap and refrigerate. This mixture can be used for strawberry, banana, and other fruits to make a gel or to make a “cold” pie. Edited August 12, 2015 by The WE2's Quote Link to comment
sassenach
Um, why would I want to eat that much clear jel in one serving? Quote Link to comment
sassenach
If you look up recipes for pudding, cornstarch is used. I have a bunch of that. Quote Link to comment

The WE2's
Um, why would I want to eat that much clear jel in one serving? This isn't one serving :-) It was six for us, we used glass ramiken's to dip our what we wanted from the bowl. Quote Link to comment

Clear gel (and instand clear gel) is the only one recommended for canning, not corn starch, so I have lots of it. Also, it's non-GMO. Quote Link to comment

Littlesister
I will have to go thorough my receipes to see if I have the pudding receipe that my mother used to make. It was butterscotch. I don't remember her using clear gel. So I am going to try to find it. I have a load of receipes sitting on my dining room table that I have been going through and trying to get them into a binder in order of breafast, lunch, dinner, deserts, breads, etc. That will make it so much easier for me to find what I am looking for. I have a habit of cutting out receipes that I want to try from newspapers, family receipes, and some I have tried from pinterest that I wanted to keep to use again. Just one of my DIY projects that is taken me forever to get finished with everything else going on right now. But I will get there. 3 Quote Link to comment
