  1. Cat, you are so much loved and missed here! It's just so good to see you.
  2. Thank you Mt. Rider. I think I've prepped the Jeep as best as I know how. If I get into trouble I won't hesitate to get a hotel room along the way. I'm pretty sure they won't be delivering furniture in a horse and buggy. Wouldn't that be a sight! I think the owner will be driving the van with a couple of Amish helpers. That's the way it was the last time. I also ordered an extra piece for my bedroom so that room will be totally furnished too. It was nice to be able to buy the furniture a little at a time and still be a matching set. I only have one more bedroom to furnish but will probably do it on the cheap. Maybe even with a daybed. That's way farther in the future. The last name of the owner I work with is named 'Beigle' (Beagle) so I already took a shine to him right away. LOL His number is in my phone so I can call if I need too. Good idea! It just now dawned on me that I think the furniture making shop is down south of the Shipshewana area. Either there or the Elkhart area. I forget which. But that could be a problem. One of my inside lights was out on the Jeep and I didn't even realize it. Just a light bulb was an easy fix for that though. And I noticed my "no passenger air bag' light was on tonight too. The air conditioner is broken along with the CD player. I think it's going to need a brake job soon. It feels like they are starting to grab. And there is still the bumper issue. I see trouble ahead in the next year or two for old BOB. Stay warm and safe everyone!
  3. I do know how to turn the water off now. And I'm going to! I can turn off the toilets and under sinks too. Thanks for that reminder. I'm also going to turn up the heat to about 78 to help keep it warm as long as possible in there. The worst damage was in the ceiling between the first and second floor. Second was in the walls. Burst pipes are no joke. Oh crap Necie. That sounds just like last year. That's the route I'll be traveling. Straight across the state on the toll road. I'm planning to leave either Saturday or Sunday. Probably Sunday. Clean house and have supper with sons on Monday. Furniture delivered Tuesday and home on Wednesday. I'm going to be monitoring Cleveland on iHeart radio on my phone. But I just thought that son can get Cleveland TV on their Superbox so he can help monitor too. I have supplies in the Jeep incase I get stuck someplace. I always have the Jeep loaded to the gills when I go over so there will be plenty of weight in it. This evening I went and got a new battery for the Jeep. I knew it was struggling to start even in 40-50 degree temps so I figured I'd have issues with it next week. It was 60% dead. It was time. It was nice that they took me as a walk in with no appointment. Then I went and got it lubed and oil changed and the radiator flushed. It was past time for that too. One light was out that I didn't even know about. And my tires were only at 20 psi. They filled them up to 35psi. So the Jeep is as good as I can make it. It was fun at the lube place. The guys were all joking around and singing. One asked me if I had a coupon. I didn't so he took my phone and punched one in. That was good for $10.00 off. Nice. He mentioned some other ones then said it's too bad I'm not a senior. Hold the phone Malik. I am a senior. He didn't believe me. He made me get out my drivers license to prove it! Wow, carded at 71. That hasn't happened in...forever. One guy asked me where I got my fake ID. Indiana. LOL So I got another 10% off of the final bill. It was a good day. Tomorrow I'll go back to the house and finish up the kitchen and start getting the Jeep loaded up.
  4. Still coughing my fool head off. I'm taking Mucinex expectorant but it isn't helping. I cancelled my doctor appointment for the 15th. and rescheduled for the 26th. That was the next available one they had. It's just a blood pressure check. She takes my BP and tells me it's too high and that's pretty much it. I have a real doctor appointment on Mar. 12th. So, I'm making plans to go to Indiana this weekend. I don't want to go. I'm sick and don't want to be around the family with this crud. They are just going to have to understand that I'm only going to be there about 2 days and I'm not hanging around. I might see them one time. I owe them some money and I'll either take it to them or else leave it at the house for them to pick up. I really need to be there to get the furniture. It's been put off long enough and they made special arrangements to get it delivered for me. And I owe them money too. They will only take a downpayment when you order from them. It will be nice to get my dining room fixed up though. I think that is going to be my favorite room in the house. Amish pictures on the walls, hats and crap treasures etc. My happy place. I'll tell you what though, I'm scared to death to go over right now. We are getting a bad winter storm at that same time and we know what happened the last time I left the house alone during a winter blast. At least my furnace is new this time. I just can't wait to get over there and back over here again. I'm going to be nervous the entire time I'm gone. I have local iHeart radio stations loaded in an app on my phone so I can check up on the weather. I hope there is no snow over there or else son will have to shovel out the driveway for the delivery guys. He's gonna love that. Not.
  5. Mine only text me when they are filled and ready for pick up. This is the first time they have ever alerted me that they are on back order.
  6. Mt.Rider, do they have auto refill at your pharmacy? That way they can automatically refill them and then alert you when they are ready for pickup. I take so many different pills that I'd never remember when they need refilled. And they don't all come due at the same time. I still haven't heard back from the pharmacy concerning the vitamin refills.
  7. They have the 'chair height' round toilets now. That's what they put in my Ohio house. I think they got them at Home Depot. I hate the oval toilets. They hurt my butt. Seriously. Plus they take up more room in a small bathroom. Son will be able to get them for cost. Just getting him to do it...
  8. I'm normally pretty generous IMO, but I'm done with this house. I'm moving on. And I'm going to need all the money I can get for my own house repairs and for refinancing. Actually I had planned to use them to replace the bathroom floors at the Indy house. The floors are good but I'm not sure if there will be gaps in the floor covering after the toilets are replaced. I'm going with smaller (round) toilets. I won't know until the toilets are removed. But if I can sell them that will save me from moving them. And if the floor covering is okay at the Indy house, I won't need them. They are very heavy ceramic tiles.
  9. I forgot to mention that at the ENT doctor, the nurse asked me if I'd be willing to pick up a prescription at their facility if I needed one. I like to use my own pharmacy because I get a kick back. I told her yes, I would because I've been having issues being able to get meds filled at my pharmacy. She said, "We hear that a lot. That's why I asked you if you'd like to get them here." I didn't need any more meds but I would have gotten them there if I did.
  10. All of the remaining boxes are unopened. I might save one box. I think there are about 6-8 in each box. But if the P.M. needs them all to do the job then he can have them all.
  11. All I did today is cough. Crimony. I got a call from the furniture guy. Elmer is delivering it on the 16th. I think I'm going to cancel my doctor appointment on the 15th. and reschedule. It's just with a nurse for a blood pressure check. I won't even be seeing the real doctor. The appointment isn't until after 3:00 and by the time I get out and drive to Indy it will be after 10:00pm. Then get up early the next morning for the delivery. Not going to do it. Last time I went over I became drowsy and that was with sleep. DIL could go and let him in but, I owe for the furniture and I also owe son some money that I want to get paid. I hate to go over sick but I'm not getting better any time soon. Might as well go get it over with. It will be nice to get my dining room in order. One room down. After I repair the holes I put in the wall. Then my Project Manager called. They have a dilemma with another house. He wants to buy the left over floor tile that I had at the house. I didn't let on but that would help me out in the long run. I don't want it and I wouldn't have to move it. I have about 12 boxes and they are HEAVY ceramic tiles. If the other guy likes them then...sold! I don't even care the price. I was wondering what I was going to do with them. Hope they take it off of my hands.
  12. Not being able to drive is my motivating factor for prepping up my house. That scares me. Even if I could get to town only once a month that would be a big help. Especially with doctor appointments etc. Son and DIL are good to me but what if they became disabled. Or worse. I suppose I could rely on Amazon for food deliveries. As long as there still is an Amazon, ya know. And trucks still run. I don't think any of the local stores over there will deliver out to me 10 miles away. . I'm sure it would cost me dearly. Senior services 'might' be available. Not sure. I want to get prepped and stay prepped. Hopefully this will be my year for some food security.
  13. I just now got the same text as the one I posted up above. So two exact ones. Either they are still out of the vitamin or else the other vitamin I take is also on back order. BTW, when they send me a med alert they never type out the entire name of the med. Just the first 3 letters followed by X's. Maybe a privacy issue? That's why I don't know which vitamin it is. Either B-12 or D-3. Probably wouldn't hurt to go pick up a couple of bottles. Or Amazon them. I take 1,000 of the B-12 and 5,000 of the D-3 so they are easy to get. Unless you're a pharmacy that is.
  14. Hope you don't catch it too Littlesister. Mine started with a stuffy nose and sneezing. I'm debating on whether or not to go to the clinic. I can't stop coughing. I know it's bronchitis again but I don't know what they can do for it. Last time it was Ampicillin and I had a bad reaction to that mess. Plus I don't want to pick up any more germs in there. Other than the cough, I don't really feel that bad. Mt. Rider, I'll will be anxious to hear about your newest purchase. But you are so correct about the dangers of a power outage in the winter. Things can go south very quickly. With long lasting effects. I'm not going to feel secure again until I can get moved. Being all alone with no backup isn't easy. Even down to the little things like needing a ride someplace. My Jeep's back bumper is still damaged from where I backed into my garage LAST YEAR. I can't really get it fixed due to no ride. I can get it to the shop but how to get from the shop back to the hotel. Then when it's finished, how to get to the shop to pick it back up. It's often those little things that people don't think about. In Indiana either son or DIL can easily give me a ride. No ride for that tilt table test and no ride for a colonoscopy. Not complaining about it. I could hire 'someone' but I'm not going to.
  15. We don't have any big grocery chains where I'm at and also none in Indiana where I'll be. Unless you want to count Meijers and Wal-Mart.
  16. Thank You Littlesister! That is so sweet of you. I was able to get it at Walgreens when I needed it for my eardrum. I'm keeping a couple of bottles of that and Flonase that the doctor recommended. Both good for getting rid of the fluid build up in the inner ear. I used them both at the same time. You are only supposed to take it for 3 days in a row. Here is how the doctor had me use the Afrin for two weeks: 2 pumps in each nostril - 2 times a day, AM and PM I made a chart with sticks on it for when I used the Afrin. Then I marked them off as I used it. Otherwise I would have never remembered. Day 1 | | Day 2 | | Day 3 | | Stop taking for 7 days: I put the day of the week I started on my off week so I could be sure I was on track. Mon. Tue. Wed. Thur. Fri. Sat. Sun. Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7 | Day 1 | | Day 2 | | Day 3 | |
  17. I've never lived around a Kroger but I heard they were high. I occasionally watch a shopper who goes around comparing prices. He must have a photographic memory because he remembers all the prices from everywhere and even what they were a year ago. Anyway, he said Kroger was always the highest except for the fact that they always have the best sales. So you can save money there if you shop the sales. I wish we had the kind of grocery stores like they have down south where they have the 'buy one...get one' sales. We never have those. It might be Publix or Piggly-Wiggly?
  18. Still no bill from the ambulance company. Maybe they forgot about me. I wish I could send a screen shot from my phone but that is beyond my capability. Anyway, I got a text message today from my pharmacy. I thought maybe one of my meds was ready for pick up. Nope. It said: "Giant Eagle Rx: Hi Jeepers (not my real name), VITXXXX we are filling for you is out of stock and will be ordered. Orders are sent nightly and arrive weekdays and Saturdays by 2:30 PM. If you have questions, please call (number)." They are out of a vitamin and can't fill it? I don't know if it's the B-12 or the D-3. I take both. I'm just reporting how things in the med world is getting difficult to get. This isn't the first time my meds have been backordered but it is the first time they sent a message saying it will be delayed. This is only a vitamin and not that important to me. I still have plenty and could get it OTC if it was something I really needed. I'm just surprised that my pharmacy can't get a common vitamin and they alerted me to the fact. BTW, I never did get the Afrin that was prescribed a couple of months ago. Either there really is a shortage OR the insurance companies want us to pay for our own meds we can get OTC.
  19. Thanks MT3B. I have four of the silicone trays that I used for freezing eggs. Each tray has 6 compartments. They were just the right size for freezing whole large eggs. I did a lot at one time so I kept having to wait until they froze and reuse them. I just got the cheapy ones from Wal-Mart but they worked really well...AFTER I SPRAYED THEM! I'd like to do some pizza sauce like you mentioned too. And butter herb cubes too. I used freezer bags for string storing the eggs. I really need to check out the Dollar stores for freezer storage bins. I need something to corral my chicken breasts, They slide all over the place in the freezer. It doesn't help that each one is individually wrapped. I really don't like to cook that much but I'm getting so excited to be able to can and freeze again.
  20. Good ideas MT3B. I make my hamburger patties with egg, cracker crumbs and Lipton-ish soup mix. I never thought about cooking them first though. And I like my waffles crunchy too. I see more freezer cube trays in my future.
  21. Eggs freeze well for cooking. Just blend the yolk and white together. The issue is the boiled egg white alone. Scrambled eggs are great frozen in breakfast burrito's etc. Yep, Euphrasyne. We were posting at the same time.
  22. Cooked scrambled eggs freeze well. But the 'boiled' egg white is what becomes hard and rubbery. I had chopped up boiled eggs in my ham salad and that is what didn't freeze well at all. I think I even ran them through a food chopper (don't really remember but that's the way I always make it) like I did the meat and onions and there were still tough pieces of rubbery egg white in the salad.
  23. I've seen those carts too. I think the shape of the back wheel catches on the edge of the step and helps secure it there so you can pull the cart up. But even with that, pulling it up 15 steps wouldn't be fun.
  24. Jeepers

    Necie

Glad you are hanging in there! I think about everyone I know has that virus, or whatever it is. Including me. It's a hanger-oner. Cough*cough. Sniff*sniff. Sneeze*sneeze. Sigh.
