Spotted Dick is a traditional English (nothing to do with the Scots, this one!) steamed sponge pudding with currants in it. The currants are the "spots". Usually served with custard in very large helpings; it's one of my hubby's favourites. I quite like it too, bit not as much as he does. Deb - your post made me laugh again! Wash their hands? On the subject of the two fat ladies, I did a small favour for a friend a few weeks ago, and she had to visit Edinburgh shortly after. This is where Clarissa Dickson-Wright has her cookery book shop. So Maggie my friend went in and bought me a copy of her latest book, a little history of the haggis, and had C D-W sign it with a dedication to me. Wasn't that nice of her? It's a lovely wee book, and although I don't eat meat haggis, I do like the vegetarian version, and the book is very interesting. ------------------ Quote Link to comment
