furbabymom
Would you eat a jar of applesauce with a "use-by" date in September 2006? I'm trying to decide if I should or not. Link to comment
mommato3boys
Sorry I won't dump it, I would make sure that it was still good and then in my house it would be gone in less than 72 hours anyway. Applesauce is on of the boys favorites. I can never have too much applesauce. You can make muffins, add it to oatmeal, cookies, eat it plain. Make fried apple pies (quick recipe...canned biscuits and applesauce and apple spice, mix apples roll out biscuits add table spoon of sauce fold over biscuit and mash edges with fork then fry.) SueC
Prior to use by dates, common sense prevailed, check colour, is seal intact and lid still popped. If smell is still ok, then use it. Link to comment
Jewlzm
I would definately take a close look /smell/taste of it before choosing to toss it or eat it. Dates dont seem to mean what you thought. Link to comment
furbabymom
Thanks all, that's what I thought - I'm just a little paranoid... I'll check it and then if it's still good I'll divide it into smaller quantities and freeze what I won't use right away. We don't use much of it around here... Link to comment
