brightblessings5
I feel like I read here a while ago that you can freeze cooking oil. Is that correct? I can't seem to find the thread about it. Will any kind of cooking oil freeze okay? Do I need to pour a bit out of the containers before I freeze? Thanks! Link to comment
Darlene
I freeze any kind of oil, and no I do not remove some of the oil before freezing. Link to comment
Ambergris
The Spectrum website (exotic oils) suggests glass jars of oil can break during freezing. I haven't found any other reference to this, though, and it might be specific to those oils. Various olive oil websites highly recommend freezing for storage. Some oils freeze only to a sort of slurry stage, while others freeze solid. A couple of sites recommend freezing bacon grease in one-tablespoon lumps, then putting the frozen lumps in a plastic bag. bluegrassmom
I was told that oil contracts when frozen instead of expanding. I have several gallons frozen with no problems. Link to comment
Andrea
Yes. I highly recommend it if you have to freezer space. Link to comment
