FlaGal
There's also a nice video of how to make homemade tortillas, for those who - like me - have never done it and want to! http://www.mexgrocer.com/9116.html They also have the corn masa that you make it with. Link to comment
MamaTiger
I make these often. I have an electric tortilla press/cooker. I love homemade whole wheat tortillas! And if the power were gone, the press would roll/flatten them and I could cook them over an open fire or on the cookstove easily as well. Link to comment
Evergreen
cool! I want one!!! Moma Tiger- can you share your WW recipe? Link to comment
DenimDaze
the press and pan are easy to use. Corn tortillas cook very fast, only a couple minutes per side. I haven't tried wheat ones yet, I'm having too much fun with the corn Link to comment
Snowmom
I've made them using a rolling pin, I don't have a press either. We have been buying them these past few years. It is easier and faster. Link to comment
MamaTiger
Sure 2 cups whole wheat flour 2 T water 1/2 c oil (I use coconut oil, but any kind will do) 1/2 t salt Mix together. Roll into balls--I get about 8 per batch. Cover with damp rag and let sit for about 30 min (I usually manage 15-20 min) while the press is warming up. I've used white flour and corn flour as well and they work just fine. I never was able to get them rolled right with a rolling pin...and had problems with the dough tearing when I would move them to the frying pan, so the press/cooker makes this simpler for me and much cheaper than buying. It only takes a min on each side to cook with the press/cooker, so we can do up a huge batch in no time. Link to comment
