Shandy
The Dollar Store is selling sea salt in the normal type salt containers for $1. Is this a good price? Why would I prefer to have sea salt over regular salt? Link to comment
Ambergris
This is a good price, but not a jump-up-and-down price. Sea salt tastes good, so I have it in the salt shakers, but I find it too expensive to cook with. Certainly, I wouldn't pickle with it. It has some micronutrients, but if you have a well-rounded diet you shouldn't worry about them. Link to comment
Violet
Here sea salt is in bulk for less than 30 cents a lb. At least I think it was 20 some cents a lb. still. It is cheap here so I cook with it. I like the flavor of sea salt better. Not for canning, as you said. Use canning and pickling salt for that. Link to comment
Andrea
Shurleen, price it at your Winco store. It's in the bulk bin section and I've been very happy with the quality of their bulk products. Link to comment
Shandy
Thanks, ladies. I'll pass it by. Link to comment
Percysgirl
If sea salt is white, it's been stripped of it's trace minerals and it pure sodium chloride just like table salt. If you want a high quality sea salt, look for Redmond's Real Salt (which is pink) or Celtic gray sea salt. Link to comment
