NanaX2
I haven't been on here for a long time, but I'm back with a question. I've come across Ball glass jars that have the word" freezer" embossed on the sides. Does anyone know what these are? Can they be used for regular canning? Thanks for the help! Link to comment
Virginia
I usually see "freezer" on the wide mouth Ball or Kerr jars. It is my understanding that they are either freezer or canner safe, and I have used them for first one and then the other. Think maybe the word freezer is the fill line for freeing since the foods expand when frozen. Link to comment
Jeepers
Yes you can use them for canning. I was told, manny many years ago that the only difference between the freezer jar and the other jars is the shape. Freezer jars have straight sides (without it bowing in up at the top to make a neck.) Sort of like a drinking glass. Supposedly that design makes it easier to get frozen food in and out of the jar and makes it easier to stack in the freezer. I'm sure Violet can explain it better. Link to comment
