Mt_Rider
We don't eat chicken due to DH's allergy. But even before he knew about that, he didn't like eating "industrial" chicken because of the data he receives as a health care professional. Lots of really bad data particularly regarding chicken. Emergency room statistics, would you believe? This doesn't come from the health care professional sources however...... http://www.msn.com/en-ca/foodanddrink/foodnews/finally-the-fda-admits-that-nearly-over-70percent-of-us-chickens-contain-cancer-causing-arsenic/ar-AA8cWca MtRider ....uh, bon appetit...... Annarchy
I've always believed, after seeing the complete process of cancer treatment, that it is manufactured on so many levels, on purpose, for the sake of making money. Quote Link to comment
sassenach
I really don't want to know. I have no other sources than my market for chicken and I happen to like eating it. I always make a point of cooking it thoroughly and have never been ill from it and at least try and get the more naturally raised stuff the market does sell. I don't do well on soy or even fish for very long. Its like half baked when it comes to how my body and mind responds, so I have to have some meat every week , preferably every day. If I could raise it myself I would. I just don't have a homelife that allows me to do so. Sometimes all you can do is work with what ya got when you have other frailties to consider. I actually have a tiny bit more trust in how the more naturally fed chicken is raised than what they do in the beef industry and pork industries anyway. I guess you never get to have chicken at your house then, Mt Rider? I would raise them for myself if I could. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
Oddly, whatever affects DH so drastically in chicken [meat, juice...not eggs], does not do that with the tiny Cornish game hens. They're cheap and we eat those from time to time. So now the question is......do they feed an arsenic product to "plump up" those too? ......or any OTHER poultry? MtRider ..... Agreed, Annarchy. Truth is so HARD to find. Like the Russian dolls...within doll...within doll....within doll.... Edited January 20, 2015 by Mt_Rider Quote Link to comment
sassenach
Would it be worth raising the cornish game hen's then, Mt Rider? I like them myself. We used to have them for some holiday dinners Quote Link to comment

sassenach
ya all are awful, lol.... I don't want to know! This is an excellent reason to homestead however! If you can, you should for the sake of your family and your own health in the long run. Quote Link to comment
