  1. Update on my son... his is consious, but confused. Nothing major broken.... no internal bleeding. Doc says just a mojor concussion but he should be alright. It is a big relief off my mind to know he will get better. They will let him go home as soon as the confusion subsides. Thank you all for your prayers... they really helped both of us. T

    Window Quilts

Well, I made Y2K baby quilts putting space blankets between two layers of thin batting for my 4 grandbabies... they worked wonderfully! We were able to machine wash them, but we put them through a second spin cycle when washing them and hung them up to dry... I was afraid the space blankets might melt in a dryer... My DS#3 and his wife would walk Becka in the stroller everynight about a mile to my house, rain, wind, snow,...no matter what, and she was always warm and dry when they got there. Me thinks when I make my quilted window covers to match my bed quilt that I will put some velcro on the back of the quilts and on a space blanket and use that for my backing to prevent sun rot... that will reflect the heat of summer back outside and in the winter help keep the heat inside the room. T.

  6. DD#2 called me last night to wish me a Happy Birthday and dropped a bombshell that her older brother is in ICU with head injuries and other injuries from a roll-over accident on I-40 during a snowstorm Saturday night.Northern Arizona had upwards of over 100 accidents from this storm on I-40. Cliff is 30 years old and I am waiting on more word from the Dr.'s as to what his condition is and if they have determined if and how much brain damage he may have sustained. He has other injuries as well, bumps, bruises, fractured ribs and such, but the main concern right now is the closed head injury. I thank god that the passenger in his truck is going home tonight with little more than bumps and bruises.. Bowdy is my DS#4's FIL and Cliff was helping move Bowdy up north from Phoenix to live with my son and DIL.. Bowdy is family of the heart.... when Jason married Genn we got Bowdy too.

  14. Happygirl, this is your child we are talking about here. If you feel that MIL has harmed her in anyway, then please dont let your DD be alone with her. Her safety is your first responsibility and if MIL and SIL dont like it, that's just tough tooties for them! People have a way of saying ,"well ya know my son or daughter said this to me but it was their illness or their medication talking:. Bull........ they just dont want to admit that they are wrong or have interfered! And if she decided to "teach my child another lesson like that" I'd file charges against her for abuse and endangerment. Cat, I never let it bother me if I embarrassed myself or my children by asking pertinent questions to ensure my childrens safety. I was a gun owner in Arizona, a multi- gun owner... and I was never offended if someone asked me if I owned a weapon and I was happy to invite that parent into my home and take them to my walk in closet to show them the large metal gun safe with not only the regular locks on it, but also 2 large hasps and padlocks as well. I also had multi window locks to my bedroom windows and a hasp and padlock on my bedroom door when I wasnt home. One gun accident can change your life forever, I know, I lived it with my own family and I will have nightmares and grieve forever.
  15. Hi Sandra, I wondered where you were. I used to live in the Valley of the Sun, sometimes in Phoenix, and sometimes in Glendale myself. I worked with many wonderful people as a nurse with Hospice of The Valley. The dessert heat finally wore me down after 19 years and I moved my family to the White Mountain area up north near Show Low and Springerville. Beautiful country up that way if you're looking to get out of the Big City. twi
  16. Well, I think it depends on the circumstance I suppose. I dont think it was wise of your DMIL to place the baby's hand on something hot to begin with, that is your child after all. I do know that our Brianna was a "biter" and nothing we did to discourage it seemed to deter her at all till she bit my breast and brought blood. Unfortunately, Grandma saw red and I bit her back! She NEVER bit me again, but continued to bite others until they started biting her back. Her poor mother called me one day '"to come get this little monster before I kill her!" Seems mommy had to punish Brianna for cranking the stereo up over and over again and told her that if she did it again she woud get a spankin... Brianna waited till mommy turned around and walked away and bit her mommy on the hiney! ( I laughed all the way to Rachels house) I went and got the little booger and took her home with me for a few days. ROFL , she was only 2 years old at the time.
  17. Hi everyone, I've been up for hours, but have been attending to email, cooking breakfast, answering email, eating breakfast.... looked out the window and the darn snow is still there I wished it to go away, but it hasn't. It is supposed to snow again tomorrow too, so guess I will do more sewing and such then, rather than go outside and fight mother nature. Accomplished my weight loss goal for last week and am working on this weeks now... I am hoping to be down to #$@*(@^ cough cough cough by Wensday night. LOL Am working on some very personal problems right now and will let you know what is going on very soon.... just not ready to talk about it right now and I refuse to withdraw into myself and hide from the world like I have done in the past. Hope you are all having a good weekend and will check in later to see how everyone else is doing..... Uh, send me some of those pretty posies that are popping up where you are please...
  18. Candy?????? Snow, I DO NOT, I repeat , I DO NOT, do Tuna.... If I had to do Tuna, carrot sticks, raw carrots and such to do this program, I think I would rather be fat! Except for eggbeaters, skim plus milk, slimfast snack bars, and SmartOnes icecream sandwiches, EVERYTHING in this house is regular food. I was raised on meat, taters, veges, etc... and I still am. I have even been able to work in a treat of White Castle Cheeseburgers one night by planning my meals for the day ahead of time and not going over my points.... and still had a snack bar as a late night munchie. Just remember, if any of you are diabetic, or have a medical problem, check with your doctor before you begin a diet program....
  19. Well, yesterday was a 6-inches of snow day, and this morning I was shoveling snow from the sidewalk. Today is bright and sunny but with a nippy wind from the north, but at least the snow has stopped. I will be cleaning my kitchen today and doing laundry for the week. Have a wonderful weekend everyone! T.
  20. All these chocolate recipes are SINFUL just plain SINFUL! lol
  21. For all that left over roast chicken or turkey, I like to chop up the meat alittle, heat a flour tortilla, put chopped chicken or turkey in it add a hal slice of american cheese and nuke it.... then add shredded raw cabbage, like you get in the store to make cole slaw with, some chopped tomatoe and ya have a nurishing breakfast that is fast, convient and is one bread exchange, meat exchange and milk exchange and veges.
  22. I made a bone in Pork loin roast, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy from beef broth, green beans and steamed broccoli for last nights dinner.
  23. Powdered Milk is expensive anywhere, but if you are making up your own hot cocoa mixes, and baking mixes it sure saves alot on buying bisquick, jiffy mix, etc. i used it all the time on the ranch with my baking, mashed potaoes, etc. I used powdered eggs alot in my cooking so that I had the fresh milk and eggs for other things. T
  24. WTG Briggid! Just everyone remember, any weight loss is A LOSS! It doesnt have to be a pound or more.... 0.2 pound loss is A LOSS! If ya dont lose anything in a week... so what? It isnt a gain either it's a plateau and you will get past the plateaus and start losing again .
  25. I loved this! I usually tell a telemarketer that I own stock in their company, and beings it isn't doing very well on the market right now I really dont think it would be wise of me to invest anymore of my time or money in their product. That usually results in a sharp "click" on the other end of the line and I can get back to doing what I was doing before they called.
