I was just in my Goodwill rockin a new hair cut when a employee where told me she just loves my gray highlights. She looked to be all of 18. People started to ask Dh if he wanted the senior discount 10 years ago when he hit 40.

I'm picky about my yarn. I only like the soft yarns. If it's hard and scratchy it stays in the store. Most of the time I use Caron's simply soft, I like the feel and it works up nicely. I found some Lion Brand Yarn that was even softer then Caron and in a pretty color so I got it for a gift scarf I'm making someone. A simple 2 -3 hour project. It took me some time to find the end of the yarn and the skein of yarn came unraveled and tangled and I think I got the wrong end pulled out the wrong way and both ends are now somehow involved with each other . No problem. Right? It's part of the joy of working with yarn. I usually have no problem getting tangles out, take your time and use logic. Not this time. Its one BIG TIGHTLY KNOTTED MESS. I'm had to cut out a big chunk just to save my sanity. I like to make very long scarfs and I'll go past what the pattern usually calls for and will only stop when I run out of yarn so this scarf might be shorter then I usually make them. So as I was trying to untangle the mess and save as much of the yarn as I could muttering under my breath about taking scissors and stabbing it to death I look up to find Sadie the dog looking at me like I've really lost it. Dh asked me if I hate it so much why do it. I like to create something beautiful and useful. It makes me happy. Men.

It was slicker then snot and half as fun this morning. Son's friend rolled his jeep 7 times on the way to school. Not a scratch on the kid. The previous owner had installed a roll bar on the Jeep to go off road. A lot of slide offs and accidents this morning. We have record cold and my area might get a dusting to 2 inches overnight tonight.

I'm just the opposite with knitting. My projects are slow going. I'm having problems with my shoulder and lack of time. Next weekend the women are having a craft weekend I might go to. We take our projects spend the night in the church working on them. It's fun to fellowship with others while working on your projects. Although they redid the youth room so there are no longer sofas to nap on anymore. I don't read directions very well so most of my projects are off of YouTube. My son is now back to health, He is on fall break so he went out the help farmer friend Friday . 1st thing they did was pick up the grass feed beef from the processing place and then he had to help get the cows/ farm ready for winter. It was very windy cold and we had rain/snow Friday He came home frozen. Instead of farmer friend paying him he asked if they would give him some of the beef. Framer friend's wife was very generous and gave him about 10 lb of beef. Shopping went well, he got ingredients to make cookies, chicken Alfredo, pizza and some other things. Plus we have to save enough money to get brussel sprouts at the farmers market. He did well and didn't get a lot of convenience/junk food. I still thinks he need a few more shopping trips to get a feel of what real things cost and the price of stocking up for later.

Unfortunately my strep baby "Feels like butt" and doesn't look much better so the challenge will have to wait until next week.

Yes I think he can cook the meals too. Grocery money is not going as far as it used to so I'll be very interested in what he thinks are REAL groceries are and how he is going to pay for everything he wants to get. I keep telling them that we can not afford meat as the main course at every meal anymore. This will give him a taste of being on his own,

My wonderful Son who is a senior in High School. Yesterday he came to me and told he was tired of me wasting the grocery money and HE was going to take the grocery money this week and HE was going to get REAL groceries. OK. Challenge accepted. Good luck my son .

I was wrong. Friend who said he would help with fixing the table legs said it's not Cherry but Mahogany. He said he has some scrap he'll glue up and thinks I'll have the table fixed and refinished for under $50.00. He also thinks it a really nice table and a wonderful find. I'll have to post photos.

A table top. I love taking old furniture and redoing them. Altough I haven't refinished any in 30 years it is something that I've enjoyed doing and need to fix some used funiture for the dinning room. It's a beautiful day today. People are out on bikes, the sun is shinning and the temperature is a nice 58* with no wind. Weather forecast is for storms tomorrow so today was the day to do outside work. I got up early cleaned my room ( fresh sheet bliss) and the refrigerator in side and out and got grocery's. Dh and Son had to go to FIL house to help him get ready for winter so DD2 and I invited Boyfriend over ( her's) and we stripped top of the free table I got from the neighbor. Most of the scratches are gone so I'm happy about that. It's a Cherry lament top and I can't sand it too much. I wanted to refinish it but if the scratches were too deep I was going to paint it a dark color. It's a pedestal table with the legs going out from a center shelf. One leg is broken in two and one has been dog chewed but I have friends who can fabricate some new legs for me. I have to finish cleaning the the front porch , do lunch dishes ,sweep the kitchen and the never ending laundry but I'm happy with all I got done today. Yes that was Blood Pressure. It's at the high end of normal. We haven't trapped any more mice but STINK BUGS are now invading .

Yesterday we got 8 mouse traps and this morning we had trapped 8 mice. It got cold but at least this means that the ants I've been battling all summer are leaving. Good news is I had my physical and everything looks good although he told me I need to work on getting my PB and cholesterol down a little and I have lost a little weight so changing my eating habits is working. At work they changed the suppliers for the ear plugs we use and He told me I'm allergic to them. Most likely to the latex as I do have a sensitivity to some latex's. I talked to the health and safety person and she said she would see about getting some latex free earplugs abut she would have to have the OK from corporate before she could order them. Really?? I can't be the only person who is allergic to them. We are working less hours so I'm getting some of the LONG to do list done around the house and the neighbors put a free dinning room table by the road and now I have a table to refinish. It has 2 leaves which is something I have wanted. I'll have to have a friend make some replacement legs for it but we can take the pattern off the unbroken leg. I love refinishing furniture so this is going to be fun.

I just go a call from my FIL. apparently my Son has been a bad boy today. FIL said that son called him this morning and told him he had a cold and he had been drinking and wrecked his truck and was in jail and needed FIL to send him $4500.00 FIL told him he didn't have that kind of money so the guy hung up. FILis at the age that memory is a problem but I'm glad he knows Son well enough that kind of behavior would be suspicious. It makes me angry that someone can try to scam older people like that.

Friday night DD2 asked me if her boyfriend could come over to watch Dr Who with us, I told her yes if she cleaned the living room. She did a awesome job while I was a a meeting Saturday morning. Saturday night I got the see last seasons finally which I didn't get to see all of when the season ended last year. BF come over about half way through the show. He's a quite boy. I like him. Dh's best friend took my kids shooting earlier in the day so he and the kids were talking about shooting and were putting a video of it on you tube. Most of the talking happened when the pre show was on so I didn't say anything. DH's BF comes over to use our WiFi During the 1st few commercials BF tried to get DH to watch his stupid/childish videos. No we don't find the same things funny. He started to watch them during the show. DH told him there were headphones behind him. I had to tell BF to shut up. 3 TIMES He finally went outside to smoke. Dh wouldn't let me lock the door. The last 15 minutes of the season premier DD and her boyfriend went outside to sit on the porch. DD is a BIG Dr Who fan so I found this strange. So there I was shushing best friend up and keeping a eye on DD and BF without seeming to be trying to spy on them. Well there is always reruns.

The county parks department has the Cast Iron DOG every fall at the historic grist mill and they do a maple syrup making demo in the spring. One day I will make it to these events. Next month the Mill will have their Heritage Day. That might be fun as well. The parks department also has a cast iron demo for kids next month at a different park on the other side of my town. The mill is on the other side of the county. Now all I need is a kid who is 6-9 years old. Cat, the mill would be a great day trip for the grandkids.
