  1. My friend's DD and my DD are the same age. They were born 6 hours apart on the same day in the same hospital. She posted this on Facebook today. I'm glad for God's protection for my friend's Dd. My prayer to the family that lost their loved one.

    cabinets

I have worked in a kitchen cabinet factory for 29 years so here my dirt about cabinets. This is only my opinion but I'll tell you what I want in my kitchen. I love natural hickory cabinets but unless you are going for a strong rustic look they can be overpowering. I will probably put white opaque as it goes well with the in your face wall color I want to in my kitchen. Cleaning... Don't use wax products. A soft cloth and mild soap and water is all you need. Overlay what the industry calls drawer fronts Slab - one solid piece I would go with this Thermofoil- thermofoil material is applied to medium-density fiberboard (MDF) using an intense heat and pressure-bonding process to ensure durability. Hot place freezing over no Mitered 5 piece - Mitered joint corners are cut at 45 degrees and glued together. They are similar to most picture frames. inside or outside corner can open up depending on humidity I like these but still going with slab that way I don't have to worry about open joints 5 piece mortise and tenon - Mortise and tenon joint corners butt-fit together. The tenons on the horizontal pieces fit into the mortises on the vertical pieces. I like these too but still going with slab There are 2 types of panels for the 5 piece Raised - The edges of the center panel is routed so that they are thinner than the "raised" center portion. In opaque this panel can be MDF. I like the look but as I want white in my kitchen and the MDF, if screws are used to attach it to the box can strip out if overtightened and falls off. Flat panel - The center panel is thinner than the drawer edges so that the front is "recessed". On overlays that are attached with screws to the box and are overtightened one of 2 things will happen . 1 panel will split 2 panel will strip out and fall off. believe me I know this from lots of experience. Where I work they pre drill holes in the box and use screws to attach the overlay. Since we have problems with overlays splitting or falling off they are going to d different way to attach the overlay but I don't know what it is yet. Up next drawer guides

    cabinets

I work in kitchen cabinet factory. I make mid level cabinets and it's what I'll put into my kitchen when I find the money to remodel. If you want to know what company PM me. I prefer trays over shelves in the bottom cabinets. Here are 2 very good resource to consider. http://www.home-style-choices.com/kitchen-cabinet-quality.html http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/kitchen-cabinets/buying-guide.htm

    The parrot

A young man named Jon received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. Jon tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary. Finally Jon was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. Jon shook the parrot and the parrot got even angrier and more rude. Jon in desperation, threw up his hands and grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then, suddenly there was total quiet, not a peep was heard. Fearing that he had hurt the parrot, Jon quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto Jon's outstretched arm and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions." "I am sincerely remorseful for any inappropriate transgressions." "I fully intend to do everything I can do to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior". Jon was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. He was about to ask the parrot why he had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, but the bird continued... "May I ask what the turkey did?"
  11. No big plans for us. We'll have the traditional fixins. I wanted to go the the farmers market that is only open on Tuesdays and Saturday and get some brussel sprouts that have been properly harvested so after work on Tuesday I went only to find it closed due to a major gas leak at the bank next to it. Son has taken a big liking to brussel sprouts so next year Dh said we'll just grow our own. Dh is giving me a small corner of the basement for food storage and a book about root cellars I read said that you can keep them short term but keeping the mice away would be a issue.
  12. :wink (2): maybe just a hint and I won't tell all ... but I know who the next Doctor is too. Fun facts The new Doctor has been in a previous episode but not as the Doctor. It has happened before when a actor Colin Baker was in a episode with Doctor #5 Peter Davison and then went on the become the 6th Doctor. Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat was initially opposed to Matt Smith’s wish to wear his now-iconic bow tie. All the Silurians seen since 2010′s “The Hungry Earth” are played by the same three actors. All of David Tennant’s suits (including the jackets) are made out of off-the-rack pants. “The Impossible Astronaut” (2011) was the first episode filmed in US in which the actors playing the Doctor and his companions actually participated in shooting; the earlier “Daleks in Manhattan” featured footage shot in New York, which was then digitally blended with the Welsh locations in which David Tennant and Freema Agyeman were shooting. The TARDIS has a six-sided control console because it was designed to have six operatives. The TARDIS wheezes and groans during landing because Doctor leaves the brakes on. Two of the actors playing the Doctor have married actresses who had continuing or key roles in the series: Tom Baker was briefly married to Lalla Ward, who played the Time Lady Romana, in the early 1980s, and David Tennant is now married to Georgia Moffett, who played the Doctor’s daughter, Jenny (and is, coincidentally, the real-life daughter of the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison). The episodes “Human Nature” and “Blink” (2007) were based on an original Doctor Who novel written in 1995 as part of the New Adventures series that picked up where the classic series left off, and therefore originally featured the Seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy. The ancient race of aliens The Weeping Angels were inspired by a carved figure in a graveyard that Steven Moffat used to see when he went on family holidays. The graveyard was marked “dangerous,” which is what attracted Moffat’s interest. The TARDIS looks like an old fashioned police lock-up box because its cloaking device, the chameleon circuit, malfunctioned after his first visit to 1963 London.
  13. how did you guess? DD2 went to a Dr Who party and made Adipose's to take to the party. Yesterday was also DD2's birthday. She got a bow tie for her birthday bow ties are cool but I could do without the fez. I also got her a sonic screwdriver for Christmas. I like #6 but my favorite is #10 The best companion was Donna. David Tennant and Catherine Tate were a great combo. http://cookfiction.com/adipose.html
  14. My Son wants to have duck for Thanksgiving. The one and only time I've had duck was for Thanksgiving years ago and I didn't like it maybe because I was pregnant at the time. It was greasy. What's your favorite way to make duck?
  15. this was picture was taken in a town south of me and there was a tornado not to far from DD1 collage.
  16. I'm on vacation. Well its going to be a working around the house vacation. I have lots of things I want to get done in the next 3 days. Added to the list are all the branches taken down by the storm and high winds yesterday. That may have to wait it's cold outside. I have a load of laundry started and helped DD2 make muffins for a friend's bithday this morning. I'm getting ready to make some yogurt and I have to find shy cat. I saw her sneak into my bedroom this morning and that's not allowed. I'm sure when I start cleaning she'll run out of my room. What's on your to do list today?

    2 men

Two men have ended up marooned on an island in the South Pacific. So they are on the deserted island, one palm tree, nothing to see but the ocean. One guy is in a complete panic, pacing back and forth, ranting about how they are going to die, hungry and alone, that nobody will stumble on them until they are nothing but bones. The other guy is sitting under the tree snoozing. Finally the first man can't stand it anymore and he demands "What's wrong with you, don't you understand the situation?" To which the reply came "Sure I do, we are stranded on this island hundreds of miles from anywhere" "Well aren't you worried?" "Nope" came the reply "I make $10,000.00 a week." The first guy was at a complete loss, "What does that have to do with anything, you have no access to the money and no place to spend it if you did." To which the second guy replied "No you don't understand, I make $10,000.00 a week and I tithe, my pastor will find me."
  19. Son and friend who is a girl NOT a girlfriend are in his room playing Legos tonight. Yes the door is open and Momma senses are on full alert.
  20. Today was my Sunday to make coffee for church. DD2 who will be 15 soon and her friend went with me early to church to help me set up and make the coffee. We go in at 8 so when the other volunteers get there at 8:30 there is coffee ready for them and 1st service starts at 9. DH and Son arrived to help me serve the coffee between services. Children's church was short handed so the girls went to help with the little kids. Dd has help me as special friend to a autistic child so today they let her do it by herself. Son asked me if he could go to lunch with a friend just when things were getting busy. I asked who and where . He said a friend and ihop. I was busy and forgot the pursue the who. When we got home Dh and I were making lunch and I again asked Son who the friend was and again he just said a freind. Again I was busy and he took advantage of the fact and left. Son and his friends are good kids and sometimes one of a wonderful group of twentysomething men take Son out to talk to him about how things are going in his life and offer advice so I wasn't to worried. I asked DD who he went with. She said " Some girl.I don't know her name." My 16 year old Son is going out with a girl and he dosn't want me to know?
  21. Have you ever gotten the look when you say something about making a homemade version of a common product? At work we have to do stretches before starting work. A friend and I were talking and I told her about making laundry soap. She said that she is going to start making soap and it's something I've been wanting to do so we've been talking about our projects. Yesterday we were doing stretches next to our supervisor. I had sent her some links to soap making supplier and told her if she wanted to order something I would go in with her so we could split shipping. We were talking about finding lye and our supervisor asked why we need lye. We told him about getting into soap making . He just looked at us. I told him I make my own laundry soap and she told him about the shampoo she makes. He just looked at us. I said I had just gotten my vanilla beans and was making vanilla extract this weekend. She was teasing me about still having the vodka I had bought to make the extract . He asked if vanilla extract was really just vanilla beans and vodka. Yup, vanilla beans ,vodka and in 6 weeks you have vanilla extract. He just looked at me and said 'So this is how you spend your weekends." kinda of shaking his head. Friend thought that was funny. I told them I was also going to make yogurt this weekend. They just looked at me. Friend said I was going to far.
