  1. Okay, I bookmarked them, but I'll probably forget to check. Thanks for posting them here.
  2. Apparently the person in the home was his mother. She was a substitute teacher and was not even there. He killed her before going to the school. The media had been reporting snippets of information without having the facts. And may not have all the facts yet. . Everyone is really emotional right now and I'm sure not meaning to sound harsh. It makes us sad; it makes us angry; it should bring us to our knees. The Lord is our shelter, our comfort, and our tower of strength. How long will he be patient with us? Lord in Heaven forgive us, bring our country to its knees, turn our hearts back to you. In Jesus name.
  3. AH- update on the KF disabled flash. I sent you a message on how to find it.
  4. Congratulations! Children and truly a blessing!
  5. Oh Grandbabies! Well the first one is with the Jesus. There was a blood clot under the placenta. It should have been fine, but she delivered at 14 weeks. That was back in January and no babies since. DD is under a LOT of stress with the in-laws, so probably not going to happen for a while. LOL Coasty Girl! Lot's of cakes have parts that are not real, but I would have thought the top would have been real considering it is such a tradition to keep for the first anniversary. I hope you each took a lick!
  6. Our DD and S-I-L are celebrating their one year anniversary today! I talked to her a little while ago and she said the cake top was excellent! I remember tasting ours and it was horribly stale/freezer burnt. Here is what I did. I took the flowers off the top, wrapped the cake in 2-layers of celephane put the flowers (real orchids) back on and wrapped it in 2 more layers of celephane. Then I put it in an ice cream bucket and put the lid on. It's been in the deep freeze until a couple weeks ago when DD took it home and put it in her refrigerator freezer. Just thought I'd pass it on. I opened it before I sent it home with her to make sure it was the cake and I noticed the flowers were still as pretty as when we packed it up! Just thought I'd share!
  7. DD loves it! She said she love's it like this... LOL! We use the Charlotte Mason approach to schooling so we work through lots of subjects/books slowly. She has finished chapters 1 & 2 and the quiz over those and first essay. She tried some things she learned about ishutter speed in chapter 3 today and was thrilled with how it worked! She hasn't had a photo assignment yet but they are coming up! I know there are action photos, portraits, and nature photos that she will have to turn in. I remember seeing something about underwater photography, but I don't recall if there is an assignment with that. All-in-all I'm well pleased. I ordered the curriculum as an ebook and downloaded it to 2 computers and emailed it to my kindle, so as to not lose it! Kitty has been great to work with , has answered all my questions, and graded DD assignment.
  8. Happy Birthday, Arby! Have a great day!
  9. Congrats on your HUGE accomplishment! I remember watching my sis-in-law go through it! She has her doctorate in education also! Went straight from being a Kindergarden teacher to Principal of 2 schools, with some district wide responsibilities. Boy were some of the teachers ticked! Could be worse, she could end up being their superintendent instead! I KNOW it was a lot of work for you! Congratulations on a job well done!
  10. LOL! I used to have that same dream as well even as far as continually returning to the office to ask about combination and classes! Must be common! I had a reoccurring dream for years that I was still selling Pampered Chef and I didn't have my supplies and that the hostess didn't supply the food. I also dreampt that I booked a show after I quit selling and didn't even have the correct catalog! I didn't know what products were available or how much they cost!
  11. Jeepers, Jeepers! (I've been dying to say that). That is crazy. I had tried to tell my folks when they wanted Obama Care to pass that their "low" deductables that they thought they were going to get, was actually not more than $2000. I tried to explain that their deductable was not going to go down because they pay much less than that. They didn't believe me and thought the Republicans were just saying that to get it to not pass. They were so mad at those "D*mn*d Republicans" for trying to stop it. Of course they know that I vote Republican! (I hope I didn't get to political, just repeating what was said)
  12. Been praying for you, your sons, and your DH. I didn't know for sure what was going on, but had an inkling. Was praying for your safety, and will continue to do so.
  13. Oh, boy! I thought you were going to can something in a hot car....like oven canning! BATS???? Well, it's a lazy Sunday with Hubby working and a sick little boy....so I guess I'll have to go searching.
  14. That would be a great idea, but there is nothing available right now. We have one option for classes in the area, and I am not willing to drive her 40 miles. When she gets her driver's liscense we could look into that option further. She will be 18 then; she is 15 now. If she was an only child I might have considered it. On a further note, I went ahead and ordered the class from Photography for Homeschoolers. The owner, Kitty, got back to me with my questions and sent me an overview and sample lessons. It looks like it is pretty intensive, covering everything from the history of the camera, to lens, focus, lighting, prospective, and careers in photography. My dd is not going to like having to write an essay for the class though! My interest is still peaked on the virtual coop though. Sounds like it might be fun to take also, maybe more creative than the other. Waiting to hear more from lumabean! I'll be sure to review whatever class she takes here for others future reference. I like reading reviews before I start anything! ~She
  15. Thanks! PM me anytime! I can't imagine how I could mind, unless I felt like I was being attacked for something.
  16. Has anyone used this? photographyforhomeschoolers.com My 10th grade dd, didn't like that that I put a drawing class on her lesson plans. Well, she is in high school, so she should be able to choose her own electives! So I made her a list of possible subjects. She needs 3 total for the rest of high school. She chose photography for one of them, which makes perfect sense since she is always toting around her camera. She bought a really nice one, clearanced for $120, with some of the money she earned picking up rock. Looking for a photography curriculum proved to be harder than I thought. There is not much out there. I found one from Universal Class, but found they have lots of poor reviews, including with the bbb, those those were mostly resolved. Anyway, photographyforhomeschoolers sounds good, is resonable, takes paypal, and I didn't find any complaints. I didn't find any compliments either, though I did see a few people that said they were using it. I sent her an email with questions as my dd would like to know what topics are covered so she can see that she will be learning something. Has anyone used this or anything else?
  17. So what is the verdict? Is it definately better boiled first? We definately were not fond of it fried first. I don't want to give up on it just yet, but......
  18. That is EXACTLY what I thought when I heard that on the news. So no deals for us who don't get assistance.
  19. 25 quarts of meat chicken, hamburger, pork loin. I'm wiped out! Last batch venting now. Should be able to go to sleep in about 2 hours. Yesterday I did 18 pints of carrots. Aldi's had a sale 49 cents for a pound of baby carrots. 7 pints of turnips from my garden. Also made 10 pints of grape jam from mine own vines! Bought 6 dozen pint jars and 2 dozen quarts. This is why I'll never loan out my jars again.
  20. Ya'll inspired me to can chicken! 5 quarts last night, 8 pints broth this morning, and 5 quarts in the canner now. And, I thought I hated my pressure canner! Last night was only the third time I used it. I finally don't feel so nervous using it! Thinking about picking the grapes and making jelly. I don't think it's "the thought that counts" Not going to be able to get to it for several days if I don't do it today, but I'm wiped out! There are still some green ones....maybe they'll wait a few days.
