  1. You won't be disappointed Mommy5 Dee I would own a library if I could afford it, some people have accused me of being a book addict LOL. They're right of course. My DH is worse, he actually moved about 500 books! I felt bad I had to make him give up the other 500 or so he had in his office, but we had to cut down when we moved LOL.

    Ick.

Boy oh Boy does that make me mad I'm so sorry you had that happen! Next time you go in for a pap, see if you can find a midwife to do it. And never let yourself be in a room alone with the Dr. again, you probably need that emotional support even with a good doctor becuase of the trauma you have been through. :hug
  3. Just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing Joan. Glad you had such a nice time
  4. Well Carla Emery's book is a MUST. It would be the one I'd grab if I could only keep one. The Firefox books, Tom Browne's Survival books- he's got several very good ones. One for kids too. Then there's The Sunset Western Garden Book, Joy of Cooking, Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series, The Sword of Shannarah series, Anne McCafferey's Pern series. I could go on and on LOL.
  5. How about OREGON! So much to do here it's amazing. http://www.traveloregon.com/ http://www.oregon.com/ http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-1915...gon_vacations-i http://www.sova.org/ Come to my town of Ashland if you like the theater, we have a Shakespeare Festival that runs from March through Nov. http://www.orshakes.org/ http://www.oregoncitylink.com/ashland/ or nearby Jacksonville if you like Music for their Britt Festival http://www.brittfest.org/ Plenty to do around here, I haven't even touched the natural wonders like Crater Lake, or the skiing on Mt. Ashland 20 min from my house. Someday I hope I get to explore all the fun stuff myself when we have more $! In the mean time we're just enjoying the lovely weather and the great people here!!

  9. Thanks Lois! No lilacs at this place, but I never knew how to prune the one at our last house and it was getting too tall. Now I know what to do if we ever have another one
  10. This is great info! I'm going to have to print it out in case we ever end up with a woodstove. Glad to hear you're not on the road anymore Philomena I've been wondering how you are doing. I think I'd go with 2 pr PJ's. My kids are always kicking off the covers and they will certainly do that if they are too hot. How old are your little ones now?
  11. Glad Tmobile decided to credit his bill.

Glad you're making progress We're renting right now, so I haven't needed to do anything around the house except clean it.

    Hello!

    I've missed you Happygirl
  16. Welcome Routines and a plan go a long way for me in keeping my large family running. No land to plant a garden on here, or livestock. But I have gotten good at bargain hunting, and making things for myself whenever possible. Yard sales, and goodwill are good places to pick up items like camping gear. I taught myself how to crochet afghans and I've been making them for gifts. Each year I try to learn a new skill that moves me in the direction of being more self sufficient. A book I highly recommend for the homesteader is Carla Emry's Encyclopedia of Country Living. She has tons of great info in there from gardening to small livestock. I've never had chickens, but my grandma did. She used this pen that she could move around to different areas in the field to give them fresh grass to scratch in. It was built out of wood frame about 6 x4 ft. and chicken wire with a small henhouse about 4x 4 ft. on the end. The roof was a lid that lifted up to get the eggs. Hope you can get your chickens!
  17. That is such a great site Lois! Thanks for sharing it, I know the kids are going to find it facinating too
  18. Yum! Glad you're eating out of the garden already
  19. Dee that's so incredibly thoughtful! I am sure the library there would love the books!!
  20. Well The Pern series was one I really really loved as a young teen. I was given free reign of the library about 12, and found many I loved in the classic section. Another series she might like is the Sword of Shannara series by Terry Brooks. The Prydain Chronicles is another one I loved.
  21. Morning Everyone It's such a gorgous day I may just pile everyone in the car and drive to the park after Nick's nap.
