  5. Dearest Cookie, Welcome to our garden nook...it is so good to have you here!! Your yard booty sounds beautiful and refreshingly delicious. I must confess, I am not much knowledgeable in the area of fruit trees especially the tropical weather fairing kinds. I have been meaning to look up the subject in my master garden books but seem to lose track of time. Maybe some free time will be allotted to me next week. Blessings! ------------------
  6. Logcabinmama...I'm more north than you I'm roughly an hour north of Saginaw. Di, our fair is August 12-17th. It would be great to see you there! I have heard that we have one of the very best fairgrounds in the state of Michigan. You and yours will enjoy the day spent there. ------------------
  7. Thank you, Snow!! Last year DD (lovingly nicknamed,"Ellie Mae" for her love of critters) won the trophy for grand reserve..this year she's going for the big one! ------------------
  8. I'm here and doing great!! Its been 3 days without sugar or carbs and I feel wonderful. No more bloated gassy feeling. And you are right, absolutely no hunger! Tonight at Bible Study, the ladies asked if I had lost weight? That my face was thinner and what was my secret?? These are the same ladies I see every Thursday evening and they noticed a sudden change?? I am beaming. Next week I will try to consistantly excercise other than working So are cranberries lo carb or what?? ------------------
  9. LOL!! Currently we have six cornish hen chicks stowed away in my daughter's bedroom. She is raising them for her 4-H project and selling them at our county fair so they will only live here a month. But she has some beloved chickens (who live outside in the coop) that make their way in the house every now and again. These 6 year old chicks have been known to wear baby clothes and costume jewelry. Its a stitch!! ------------------

  14. Welcome, June! You have come to a place filled with wonderful caring people. I am sure you will like it here as we are to be blessed with your company. I am a Christian. I live in Northern Michigan with my beloved DH of nearly 20 years! We have 2 children; our daughter is 11 and our son just graduated from high school and is almost grown as soon as he finds himself, if you know what I mean We enjoy our indoor pets, a golden retriever and a very spoiled long haired cat who *thinks* he owns all of us! I enjoy reading, gardening and spending time with family and friends. I am active in my church and love to sing, sing, sing!! I also like to spend time online with many wonderful people I would probably never get the chance to meet in real life. If you get a chance, please go vist our Christian site, For His Glory, listed at the top left hand corner. We are in the process of unpacking after a long move, so we could use some company Nice to meet you, June, hope to see lots more of you around these parts!! ------------------
  15. Cranberries are lo-carb??? Tell me more I did really well today. Breakfast; 2 eggs scrambled with pepperjack cheese and a cup of coffee. 3 bottles of water and unlimited ice tea. For lunch; I had 4 chicken nuggets and a chicken ceasar salad at McDonalds. I went grocery shopping and picked up all kinds of good proteins and fresh veggies for my diet. I also went to our local coffee shop and bought several kinds of flavored coffee= amaretto, hazelnut and almond joy. I also picked up a large bottle of hazelnut sugar free syrup and a pint of half and half. I feel like I am indulging Today for dinner; I had a slice of provolone cheese and sliced turkey breast. Also a very delicious dessert-like cup of coffee!I may go back for another one before bedtime. Not at all hungry and feeling not too bad tonight. Blessings all! Keep up the good work To coin a phrase that Dee K uses to encourage us. "Hip, hip away!!" ------------------
  16. (((((Mare))))) You have such a warm and compassionate heart!! Thor and Missy sure are fortunate to have you for a mom I'm so blessed to hear about your babies. Thank you for sharing!! ------------------

    The Battle Begins

Starting to feel kinda yucky, but I can remember that this only lasts a day or two. I did excellent working the ice cream counter for over 7 hours and never had so much as a bite of the creamy sugar!! I am really proud of myself for this little accomplishment. Thank you for all your support and someone to be accountable with ------------------
  18. We had our son's graduation party last month and decided to go with mostly cold stuff...we had been to many open houses that month with hot foods and with the warm weather, no one was eating it up as they should. Our menu for 150+ was as follows and most of it was all gone! Cold cuts (ham , turkey , hard salami) Variety of cheeses Large veggie trays Pickle and olive tray Sloppy Joes Homemade buns (frz. bread dough) Baked Beans Desserts we tried to keep light but not jellos and puddings. Alot of fresh fruit, fruit salads, sheet cakes with cool whip etc. Good luck, PJ and blessings on your daughter's party!! ------------------
  19. I knew it was too good to be true to have your cake and eat it,too Has anyone heard about adverse effects of Splenda?? http://www.holisticmed.com/splenda/ ------------------

    The Battle Begins

I'm with ya, Dee K!! Today's breakfast, I ate 3 scrambled eggs with cheese. I am on my second bottle of water. I am leaving for work and taking a salad and 2 hard boiled eggs, at work I can make either a hamburger or a hotdog minus the bun of course. Tonight, I will have some grilled chicken breast. At work it will be tough as I work in a theater/ice cream shop and for the most part I am alone till the first show starts at 6pm. I love my job and the people I work with but I also can eat anything I want while I am there. Butter Pecan ice cream is my pitfall. But I am determined to say goodbye to sugar/carbs and hello to feeling well again. It will be tough for the next few days but after that the hunger and most cravings subside, it will become less tempting...Last time I was eating this way, I had to be reminded to eat...Can you believe it?? High ho, High ho, its off to work we go!!! Blessings on all your efforts today ------------------
  21. First off, having a husband that still loves ((((me))))After all these years, stretch marks, weight gain, gray hair and wrinkles!! He still sees the vibrant 16 year old girl within that he fell in love with over 20 years ago...That blesses me like none other!! I thank God for my dear husband! Next would be the 2 children we have been given. They are indeed a gift from heaven. I am blessed with many simple joys daily, one of them is sharing the journey with people like you ------------------
  22. I agree... Dee K, TAG, YOU'RE THE LEADER!! Post away all you can on the Atkins diet, we are listening and reporting to duty ------------------
  23. Talking to the chickens as you are gathering up fresh laid eggs for breakfast ------------------
  24. ((((((Dee K)))))))) What a blessing you are and such an inspiration to me!! -95 pounds is wonderful!!!Way to go, Girl!! I have thyroid disease and have gained about 60+ pounds on my small 5 foot frame. I am trying to make a go of it with the drug synthroid, and even though healthwise I feel much better than when I was first diagnosed (I thought I was going to die).... I have with no such luck keeping the weight off. The low carb diet is the best diet for me as people with thyroid disease cannot process sugar and carbs efficiently. But I have fallen off the wagon, into piles of convenient easy to grab carbs! Slowly and surely they have made their way into my diet. I am interested in all there is to know about those that have made lo-carbing a way of life. Recipes and all. I'm all ears among other lumpy things ------------------
  25. See ya there ~~~~ ------------------
