  1. Sure nuff...even if people do laugh!
  2. Our girl sometimes make a "grab" for that area and it's usually her way of saying "I gotta go NOW"!
  3. Been a very busy time in our lives. Delivered Valentine's Day flowers on Thursday in -6 degree weather and high winds. Hubby insulated himself well and knocked on doors before taking them their flowers. We had to wrap all the bouquets for safety. Then Friday, it warmed up to about 32 degrees but not much wind. Still kept ourselves warm and knocked first. Glad the florist provides us a nice lunch. But we have been delivering for them for several years and enjoy making people smile and it's a day for us to recognize our commitment to each other. Then Saturday it warmed up a bit and we had a family gathering with my brother. We drove "Miss B" so our Abby-girl could go with us and stay inside the motorhome while we were there. Hubby took her out a couple of times for a walk and poo. I may have mentioned to you that he has stage 4 lung and throat cancer. They've pretty much resigned themselves the diagnosis and he's taking chemo. They're selling their city home and moving to their lake property. We're going Saturday to help her unload what she's keeping. Others that are closer to their city place will help with the loading up. This is a bit hard for me...I've said goodbye to three younger brothers and only have one left and one sister. The last brother that passed also fell victim to cancer so this is really difficult for all of us. Lot's of sad memories to deal with. Hubby finally got the main joist's done and is just about to wrap up the "hole" between the crawl space and the basement. We did take two days off to get the extended pantry put back together and re-organized. Tuckered both of us out but for the most part it's now done and actually better organized. Worked on a lighting issue so we can see much better. We keep the room totally sealed off from light unless we're in there, so it's important for us to have good lighting when we are in there. I'm sharing a couple of pics with you girls from our family gathering. My brother that's ill is on your right, in the ball cap.
  4. I'd have to keep some instant coffee hidden and use hot water from the tap if I had to...I'm not very friendly if I can't have at least ONE cup of coffee when I get up! Even warm is better than none! I feel your aggravation!
  5. Hubby has to take RX for gout. Has kept it under control very successfully. BUT...we also know that a daily dose of baking soda brings it to it's knees. The only problem is that baking soda also elevates blood pressure. We found that out. But it does work! In a pinch we know how to deal with it, just can't take it every day. Also...Littlesister...am I correct that you were in the nursing field?
  6. I don't think Vitamin D is a water soluble vitamin? I have some OTC that I take when I'm not out and about during the winter ... guess I need to keep track of you girls's information!
  7. I tell hubby...gonna go share "with the girls"...and he knows exactly where I'm headed!
  8. People usually have no idea how wonderful dancing is for our bodies...even if it's not pretty! We met at a Christian based ball room ... dancing...and still love it! Just the gentle movements of a waltz are good. Gentle twists of the waist are wonderful...the "Electric Slide" is a great one and EZ to learn. Find a Youtube video and get started!
  9. I keep a small spray bottle (from $Tree) with a mix of water, bleach and a few drops of dish soap. I also keep Lysol wipes on the counter to wipe off the counter etc.
  10. I have kept journals for years. Date, weather, scripture reference, personal thoughts on the scripture, praying for specific people, what we had for meals, chores completed etc. It definitely is a calming thing. I don't always get it done every day, and usually try to do it in the early mornings when having my coffee.
  11. ONE time we let her have a rawhide...and when we tried to take it back she got nasty. So we wrestled her to the ground and made her give it up. We thought she'd enjoy a few chews on it...never again. Also when she plays "coy" with one of her toys, we order her to "bring it here now" and insist until she does it...then the command is "drop it now!" Those are the things we've encountered with her. As for food aggression? When she was a puppy she tried that, and we took the bowl away and began to pretend we were eating her food and let her watch for awhile. Then we set the bowl back down. After about 4 or 5 times of that she got the hint. Now she has to sit and watch us fill her bowl, set it in her tray, and wait until we give her the command "OK". Then after about 4 or 5 bites, we say..."stop" and she backs up and waits for us to say "OK" again. I always pat her butt when I walk away after putting her food down. She's a good doggie!
  12. From what I've read in various posts, most of the masks don't make you safe. I told hubby...jokingly? I think we'd better keep our motorcycle helmets instead of selling them...since we sold the motorcycle?
  13. Hubby says I'm about the only person he knows that can break a can opener so quick! I love the Swing Aways...
  14. My cookware is cast iron, stainless steel, corning ware and a new set of smaller sauce pans and large casserole dish from Aldis. Enamel clad cast iron with lids. LOVE them! Just can't use metal utensils on them...the enamel scratches. But they sure hold the heat a lot longer than my stainless steel pans.
  15. I'm a gadget lady and will NOT give up the things that make my job easier. Air Fryer, Panini Maker, GrillX, Big Boss (similar to a Nuwave) air fryer, portable ice maker, popcorn makers, and lots of other goodies!
  16. Several months ago I found a really nice set with sleeves, at Aldis. I also love my ceramic knives...which I originally bought at Harbor Freight but haven't seen them there for a long time. Big Lots has "some" but I'll wait to buy any more. You wouldn't believe the number of old knives I gave to hubby for his metal recycle bin!
  17. I've pretty much pitched all the plastics and purchased glass storage containers (Anchor Hocking-Pyrex etc.), corning ware and stainless steel.
  18. Not a bad weather day...but still "grounded". I washed a load of laundry this afternoon so I'll go with hubby tomorrow to get them dried. He took our girl out for a walk when he got home to give her some exercise. Tomorrow we've got rain/snow on the agenda but we'll still go with hubby. I need to get the laundry done up because we'll be delivering flower Thursday and Friday, then our family is having a get-together Saturday....brother is starting chemo Friday and will have to go through it for 2 years...stage 4. If his body tolerates the chemo, they say 2 to 5 years. Prayer will be much appreciated that his body will accept the infusions and that he shall live and not die, and that he shall rise up and declare the works of the Lord!
  19. We have to keep our humidifier running during winter months. When the furnace is running so much to keep the house warm, we lose a lot of the humidity that our mucus membranes need. Just sharing...
  20. Samo, samo. If it doesn't rain tomorrow Abby-girl and I will go with hubby to homestead. She'll be able to get out in her "big yard" and get some exercise and I'll dry more laundry...and probably clean the pantry shelving unit hubby had to unload. That way it will be done when he's ready for us to put the stock back on the shelves. THEN...it inventory time all over again. We're still eating from our pantry and freezers. Wanting to get a lot of stuff rotated out. Tonight we had a couple of cheesy breaded fish patties (they are so good!) with fries and vegetable medley (carrots-cauliflower-broccoli) and peach jello for dessert. Hubby got all the stuff he needed to finish the "hole" from the basement to the crawl space. There's sooooo much more that's going to need to be done AFTER we get moved. Would you believe that under the dining room floor, they braced up a floor joist with TREE STUMPS...they cut to length but had them sitting on nothing! For a homestead that was built in the early 1900's you would have thought they'd have done a better job. Craftsmanship was better then I would have thought. But...maybe in later years when the floors sagged, they rigged it.
  21. It's gonna seem like it! The pocket book says it too!
  22. A Tablespoon every 3 hours when fending off or sick...then one Tablespoon every morning.
  23. Believe it or not we very seldom shop at WM. We do have our pharmacy accounts there and we go through customer service to charge our "gift" card (we use it as a gas card, to save 3 cents a gallon on our gas)...and sometimes eggs (like last week) when Aldi's puts a limit of 3 on theirs...same price, but they put a limit. We do Amish and Sav-A-Lot. PS...and also $Tree ... where everybody's rich! But even they were scanty this past week. They also were very short on bleach...figure? Maybe people are doing some extra cleaning?
  24. I keep a case of this in the homestead's extended pantry as well as a box of the cranberry pills (can't remember the name of them...shucks!)...just medicinal preps.
