Mr Cordingley said that the Sumatran cases presented a major puzzle, as they were the largest cluster of human cases to date.

 

"[This] is probably the most worrying incident so far since bird flu started nearly three years ago and we can't find any obvious source of infection. We can find no sign of infected chickens; no sign of the virus in the environment around where they live," he said.

 

All seven people who died were members of the same family. An eighth family member is also thought to have the disease.

Hey Cat and everyone, that link about the cluster in Indonesia was dated in May so it's an older one. The Thailand one, however, is new. It's definitely on the run again and WHO says it's able to mutate easier now so we'll need to be watching.

 

This is our bird migrating season here in Illinois and if we're going to see it in our birds, now would be the ideal time. That doesn't mean that we'll catch it ourselves, just that our poultry could.

 

Personally I believe that the BF has been an ongoing thing, it's just that the media has found more interesting things to talk about. Keep prepping! If one thing doesn't get us another well and maybe several all at once.
