Tiger
I'm usually good about rotation, but I recently discovered a bunch of jars of blueberry jam from late summer 2004. What do you think? Safe or not? There's no visible signs of spoilage. To be safe, I probably could reserve them for use in dump cake as the jam would then be cooked in the oven. These were made from frozen berries that I had picked in early June and made into jam as we attempted to save as much frozen fruit as possible during the 2004 hurricanes. Not sure of the exact date, but the jam was right after the first Florida hurricane of 2004 - Charley, I think? Link to comment
Darlene
I'm eating strawberry jam from 2005 and it's just fine...in my humble opinion, you should be fine as long as the sealing lid wasn't popped up and still had a good seal on it...that and it smells and tastes fine. Usually the only thing that happens after a few years is that there is some nutritional loss...not alot at the beginning but increasing as time goes by. Link to comment
Violet
Go ahead and eat the jam as long as it is still sealed and shows no signs of spoilage. If it was spoiled it would have mold or smell yeasty from fermenting. Otherwise it is fine. Link to comment
Cat
I wouldn't have any problem eating it, as long as it was sealed. Link to comment
