It was manned by a very pleasant attendant with a ticket machine charging cars £1 (about $1.40) and coaches £5 (about $7). This parking attendant worked there solid for all of 25 years. Then one day, he just didn't turn up for work. "Oh well," said Bristol Zoo Management, "We'd better phone up the City Council and get them to send a new parking attendant." "Err ... no." said the Council, "That parking lot is your responsibility." "Err ... no," said Bristol Zoo Management, "The attendant was employed by the City Council, wasn't he?" "Err ... NO!" insisted the Council. Sitting in his villa somewhere on the coast of Spain, is a bloke who had been taking the parking lot fees, estimated at A£400 (about $560) per day at Bristol Zoo for the last 25 years. "A version of this story did appear in the Bristol Evening Post back in 2007, but it was as part of a feature on urban myths published to coincide with April Fool's Day, not as a reporting of a real life event." People who insist on driving the speed limit on a narrow, curvy, hilly road....hate em!! People who insist on trying to talk when I'm interrupting...really hate em!! It DID happen here...a couple weeks ago...at a local bar....place was packed (prolly over capacity)....karoke...local hilljack stood beween the two entrance doors...charged $2 cover charge...made a couple hundred bucks...only a few friends know about it...I'm sure the owner of the place will hear about it...he'll think it's funny. God knows, there's plenty of lies out there enough. Snopes (as well as Google) isn't always true... they've been known to have a very definite political slant regarding things they'd LIKE to be.
