ArmyOfFive4God
All the recipes I've seen for canning mushrooms says pint of half pint jars. We only have 1 in the house that eats them. Why can I not use 4 oz jars? Or is it that that small of a jar isn't typical, & you're just not supposed to go larger? Help, I REALLY want to do 4 ouncers Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
I can a lot of things in the little 4 oz. jars that calls for either pints or half pints. I just use the same recipe and process them like they are pints. Quote Link to comment

Violet
Yep, same time as for half pints or pints. Always safe to use a smaller jar, not larger. Quote Link to comment

Help, I REALLY want to do 4 ouncers I've canned alot of what I call "squats" ... for small amounts. We're only two people and sometimes things like speghetti sauce, chow-chow etc., are better canned in squats. I too process everything small as pints. Quote Link to comment
ArmyOfFive4God
I usually go for the smaller sizes sometimes, too. I've never canned mushrooms, so I wasn't really sure. Quote Link to comment
Canned Nerd
I love love love my mushrooms and constantly on the lookout for discounts at my store, usually 50% or more off. My 99 cent store also carries them occasionally. They immediately get canned in those 4 oz jars, sometimes in half-pints, and sometimes into the dehydrator. I'm never short of mushrooms to add to meals. Quote Link to comment
