  1. A lazy day here too and COLD. It is 6C but the wind is blowing 90mph. We are tired after our traveling adventure, and our bed felt pretty welcoming and cozy for a nap this afternoon. Philbe, our trip was a little taste of "taking care of ourselves". We will have to nurture that in less expensive ways for awhile, but we can coast on good feelings for a time. Hope you get some good coming your way soon too. We surely do understand.
  2. I caught Madison with a joke. The dehydrated snow was "crochet" snow flake decorations. Well, they did look as if they had been dehydrated, all stiff and crunchy like. I thought since some people don't have the snow we do, I'd just take them some.
  3. Oh yes! We talked about situational awareness at the Gathering, and dh and I found ourselves UNAWARE yesterday afternoon while arriving back to the hotel. One turn away, probably only a block or so to go, and the street we needed and most others going the direction we needed were closed for a "Gay Pride Parade". It was a bit frightening, because we were in heavy traffic and not able to ask of figure out what the heck was going on around us. We managed to circle the landmarks that we had picked out on Wed. night, and came up to a parking lot directly behind our hotel. Praise the Lord for that one. We didn't have any idea we were that close until we parked and got out to see what was going on. In addition to all the wonderful food had at Darleen's home, we have now experienced collard greens, corn grits, and OH MY HEAVEN - Fried Cheese Cake! I will surely have one last blast at that before leaving. The gathering was amazing, and as stated by all the others, it was so wonderful to meet everyone in person. I'm anxious to know how Mr. Dale made out with his headaches, how KOA (and her siblings) and Dawn are doing. I was intimidated by the guns at first, realizing I wasn't behind a computer screen but rather behind a REAL gun thinking about Real consequences. Participants at the Gathering gently talked me through my feelings, and I was able to go back and shoot some mean looking holes in the target. I'm proud of myself. We visited the Aquarium, and the Coke a Cola Center today, and will be leaving for home tomorrow. Thank you so much for a wonderful time in Georgia.
  4. We're almost there. We had supper here in Atlanta. Beautiful people, and beautiful city we have experienced today. We're pleasantly tired now, so will be tucking in for the evening, fully expecting an equally nice day tommorow. Step aside satan, were coming on through!!!!! :frying pan:
  5. Getting closer, having breakfast at the airport.
  6. YIPEEE!!!!!! We're on the way out the door. See you on Thursday or Friday.
  7. Yep, I think I have the rules covered, I'm happy to have dh be the bag watcher, purse holder, get us some lunch please, guy. It is so much fun to see him excited about going places too.
  8. Oh I know that envious feeling well..........BUT THIS YEAR I GET TO GO! WWHHEEEE! I'm just sorry we can't take anything useful with us on the plane. When we get our bearings in Atlanta we'll rent a car and come along, hopefully, on Thursday afternoon. We are going to be sheeple on this flight..... so much not allowed. Stephanie, I have mentaly packed our bags, every day for the past month, but in reality, I still don't have it to my satisfaction. Does the filter to the Kadatyn have to go in the suitcase or can it come in the carry on?
  9. UMMMMM! The talk aobut winter cooking must have put me in the mood. Made a large pan of beef stroganoff for supper (and some for bil who will be here while we are away). Smells so good, sweet rolls with honey for dessert. aniwonderwhyamgainingweight.........
  10. I cooked some sweet potato pie and froze it in muffin tins for individual servings. We do mashed potatoes in different flavors, bacon, cheese, garlic, or onion and freeze scoops/mounds on a cookie sheet for instant sides. We don't have our fall beef yet, but when it is ready, I'll brown some burger, make patties, meatballs and chilli. Dh helps, so it goes pretty fast with our little assembly line. Bacon is another thing we like to make ahead, by cooking it in the oven and then freezing in serving size layers, (between wax paper) . It is nice having the mess contained to the oven and "self clean" clean up. The only problem is monitoring portion control. I am really looking forward to learning more about pressure canning meats and stews. CGA and Darlene will be shaking their heads at me this weekend; I'll be the oldest "rookie" at the gathering.
  11. Yes, our furnace is on. Others would find our home to be chilly, because we keep the temp at 68 or 69 and wear extra layers. Dh would like to sit around in shorts and turn the thermostat up - I was the first one to give in this year though sneaking it up to 70 degrees. STILL in extra clothing. Takes me awhile to get used to the cooler temps too.
  12. Poor baby, - sounds like she was being good too. Didn't deserve that nasty. I wonder how she will react on her next encounter.
  13. Great post Brian. Using what we will need NOW is so important.
  14. Look out Abby.........The next thing you know they'll be fries!
  15. Yes!!!! It truly is a "Next Year Industry". So glad you had a (do we dare call it a sucessful) harvest Dee, and not a totaly dismal one. We are glad to be over it this year too. Dh wants to retire now, he has had ENOUGH!
  16. That is BIG! Congrats on such a great accomplishment.
  17. What a neat way to dress up a pretty jar of apple sauce Dee. Now that's Value Added!
  18. How do You Do; Bows Wow. It is so very nice to meet you. BTW you are not hiding very well, although you look as if you think you are. You are a very handsome boy!
  19. We are getting ready to winterize our trailer soon. We have Friday off so I'm really hoping I can talk dh into spending the weekend at the park. We haven't been there nearly enough this past season. Yeah!!!!! for your son's new employment opportunity and a much deserved break for you Philbe. Have a good time.
  20. Some of yesterday's crock pot roast went back into the pot for stew. We'll probably eat it with toast because there's some bread needing to be used up. The rest of the beef will have a date with sweet'n sour sauce/rice, or onion in the fry pan. I dehydrated hash brown potatoes, and I am wanting to try those out too. They were pretty tasty straight off the trays. Can you season them before dehydrating if you don't use salt?
  21. If the plane is flying we'll be on it, hoping not to be late. We are seeing news reports that the airline has been doing some "slow downs". Dh has been tired and came wearily. into the bedroom one day saying - "I wonder what time the sun comes up in Ga?" I have been counting sleeps and I know he is excited now too that harvest is completed.
  22. Good Girl ABBY! Mine would bark because they heard a dooorbell on the T.V.
  23. Ooooooooh, bring him, I know a few tricks to play on newly weds, and I'm sure some others, not naming names of course might too. Mt Rider, confetti doesn't weigh much..........
  24. Ahhh? Was that one of THOSE moments? Sorry for the misinformation on her name. I like the "Amazing Grace".
  25. Hey Dee! I thought of our farm folks yeasterday when I saw this video on you tube. It is called "Grainery Singing 101" by Christine Lewans. I only ever yelled in to hear the echo when I was a kid. Check it out girl.
