  1. Start stocking more shampoo...........Congratulations!
  2. A female "power surge" could be just the thing today. Our morning temp. with the wind chill was -48C. We had a blizzard Tuesday, -46c yesterday. I'm so grateful to be safe and warm inside. We are seeing terrible weather reports for the US and pray you are all staying safe too.
  3. Hope you had a pleasant day Kappydell. Happy Birthday!
  4. A dancing we will go, a dancing we will go, hi, ho, the merrio, a dancing we will go! Good news Kappy.
  5. Dh loved this, and promptly called his nephew to see if they could "make" one together. It would be great on our flat land.
  6. Grrr...8 for the dog and Grrr...8 for you! Have fun. It is so much fun when they talk to you.
  7. WhooHoo! Thank you. Almost missed this one.
  8. I used the leftovers from last nights crockpot pork with mushroom sauce and green beans to make a creamed soup for lunch. Our beef arrived today, so we prepared burgers and pre cooked some ground beef to have ahead for easy meal prep. The price of the meat with cut and wrapping fees worked out to $2.48 per lb. I'll focus now on getting some fish put by, it is more costly but we do better with portion control with it for some reason. I'll be trying out a rub (on salmon) for supper tonight. Santa brought the new seasoning for dh to grill with.............
  9. I hope he lets you snuggle some Starsky. Just looking at his perky little face makes me smile.
  10. The tricky part of teaching children will be having them "see" results of their efforts rather quickly. Perhaps you could ask Stephanie about the cute little "Sunflower Scrubies" she was teaching how to make at the gathering.
  11. Tee Heeee...Portion control..........I hid a 3 pound box of chocolates that we received in the new year. Dh just asked where the chocolates are............my reply...........hidden! I also bought ahead from the after Christmas sales. Lip gloss in heart shaped containers, and big red hershey kisses for Valentines. |Chocolate gold coins for St. Patrick's day. I try to find something suitable for my bus kids, at greatly reduced prices. It gets difficult if you don't want to do the candy, and still be age appropriate and fair for boys and girls from kindergarten to grd, 12. Made up a gift basket for Valentines day for ny gd. Old fashioned teddy bear, make up bags with ,make up, shower gel in a cupcake container and the lip gloss. Reused the ribbon and the basket. We have been stock piling as much as possible( after not doing as much last year). Wheather permitting, the last of our new windows will be installed on Thursday, so that should help the heating bill. Our beef arrives this week too, making for a busy time as we prepare 25 lbs of ground ahead for easy meal prep. Dh is shipping flax tommorrow, and is happy to have it going to market. He pushed snow to clear the way to the grain bins, and is pleased that it hasn't filled in and he won't have to to it again. Saves fuel there too. I need to get down to the business of budgeting for our new "different". It is exciting but scary too.
  12. BIG ONE TODAY!!!!! We paid off the balance of our mortgage, and the last bit of a loan for land. Apart from that I did a big stock up. Going to bed with aThankful heart.
  13. I just remember being sick from scrolling through the info I needed. Not pleasant!
  14. Makes your heart ache..............so sorry for your loss, although it sounds like a peacefull passing. Hugs!!!!!
  15. Perky Sparkley-Toes would be my Elf name. Pretty fitting just now as I treated myself to a pedicure, with a sparkley design too!
  16. Hi! Lilly Sue, let me be the first to greet you. (and smile over the rhyme) I do belive you will have lots to teach us. It is great here on Mrs S. Enjoy and do join right in.
  17. Philbe, try Frugal Squrril (???? spelling) for gallon sized mylar bags. I haven't bought any for years but when I did the price was right.
  18. We used to say that dh had a cheap hair cut......Only the cost of a razor. That isn't so cheap any more but still less than the cost of a salon do. BALDDDDDD!!!!!! My hair is very thick and "boy short" - easy but it does require a monthly trim.
  19. I was at "coffee row" in our small town cafe yesterday. People there were making crude remarks about a fellow in town who is a Survivalist. The gossips "knew" he had a store of water and would be "down in his basement bunker with his water jugs when the end of the world comes". They were all so cruel. I found it difficult to defend this person and his reasoning for fear of having my own status as a prepper become more fuel for the fire. It hurt to hear the taunts. I had such mixed thoughts about it---- like why couldn't he have kept quiet about his prepping, to wondering if I should talk to him, or maybe not, he might give out information about us......... Part of it I know, is that because my dh is only just coming FULLY board with my prepping I wonder how much HE says on coffee row too. I ask him not to say anything but sometimes he doesn't seem to hear what I say, or realise the seriousness of it all. WHAT TO DO? I need to go back in the form to be reminded of how to deal with these situations.
  20. I do use my Kitchen aid. It does do a great job with mixing bread dough. My complaint with it is a silly one - the bowl needs to be lifted when you are ready to mix in it. I find it difficult to get my flour/ingredients in easily, whether the bowl is up or down. The measuring cup keeps knocking against the upright part and I make a mess. I have a bosch mixer as well and prefer it for bread making simply because it is open at the top, making it easier to add ingredients. The bowl on the bosch doesn't have a handle on it like the KA does so it is a little more cumbersome to handle. You should be able to get a "new" Kitchen aid for the same price (or very near too) with all the Christmas sales. I like the kitchen aid more when I need to pour a batter or move the bowl to another work surface, because of the handle. Either machine will pay for itself quickly.
  21. I'm ready for this battle. Bring it on!
  22. Hello friend! Be warned, this place is very addicting.
  23. Oh do get well friend. I cannot imagine a whole household, the size of yours, being sick all at the same time. I can, however, imagine the preps you will have had on hand for just this type of thing. When you are well again please tell us how it went. Praying for your speedy recovery.
  24. Philbe your pictures are beautiful! They make me feel like I can smell the woods. Abby is one tired pup there.
