  1. Biscuitmaker, that was an old post I bumped up...she was sick in 2002...
  2. Think I might try this. Would probably work with chicken too.
  3. I just liked the name of this recipe.
  4. Cat, does your chili come out thin? The recipe does say soup... It sounds good but we like our chili fairly thick and I was wondering if I could cut back on some of the liquids...but, i don't want to compromise the taste...
  5. The banana cream pie looks really good too!
  6. I've never made cornbread in a skillet before . I just might have to try this one. Stacy
  7. Darlene, could you explain what you mean by completely cooked down? Does it mean all the liquid is gone? Stacy
  8. I took tap in college many moons ago...what I'd like to take is salsa...love the music and the way dancers look when they move.
  9. Well dang westie...you dumpster dive AND tap dance too???
  10. Anyone know what the temp and time is for cooking the homemade hot roll mix? Stacy

The Biodiesel section is awesome!! Definately check it out! I'm so inspired now!! I really do like this site, too. Not only is this family doing so much in a small space but they are making a living at it. That's what I wish I could do. Stacy
  12. One thing I have noticed is that the MSN tends to feed into the negativity in this world...you don't see a lot of positive things of any sort being put out there in the media. But, I know there are positive things that all kinds of people are doing everyday...we just don't hear about them because it's considered boring news. Maybe I'm being a little naive here but I believe that most people are inherently good inside. So, I'm going looking for some examples of some positive examples that people are trying to do. Anyone care to join me? Here is one example: Will Allen is a former basketball player who lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He purchased two and a half acres of land, with five greenhouses on it, and he is beginning to grow food, healthy food for his community. Here is a link to their website... http://growingpower.org/ And a link to a youtube video about it... And here is another link about people doing some good in New Orleans . And in Pasadena... And here is one with folks who live a very different lifestyle than I do, but are trying to change to a better lifestyle...go a couple minutes into the video...
  13. ...tvp...textured vegetable protein that you can use in place of some chicken dishes...I'm not real big on it but have 2 vegetarian members of the family. Stacy
  14. Thanks nana for getting us thinking. I just placed an order with Honeyville grains. I have done business with them in the past and they are fast. They also take Paypal...when you listed them I remembered I had $35 dollars in my account from some online surveys, etc I had done. Now it's been converted to 1 #10 can of banana chips, 1 #10 can of sweet corn and 1 #10 can of chicken flavored tvp. Stacy
  15. Do you know why they say no garlic? I've always heard garlic was a good flea prevention. Stacy

This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. It can be helpful to someone just starting out as well as give new ideas to those who have been cooking for years. Thanks for all the great ideas that everyone has been giving! Stacy
  17. I was looking at the archived chat from Thursday about stretching food to feed hungry bellies. There were lots of really good ideas. One of the reasons for this topic was stretching food now, in order to stretch money for more preps. Someone made a comment about poverty cooking (I think Mt. Rider). I was hoping to get ideas and recipes listed in this forum. If you have ideas, links or recipes on how to stretch food as far as it can please add to this topic.
  18. When you drive past the soccer fields and wonder how many veggies you can grow on it... Stacy
  19. Hey, does anyone have one of these? I've been wondering if these are worth the money. Stacy
