  1. Rainy and dreary here, is supposed to be this way for the next couple of days...Kids get out of school tomorrow and will be off until monday, YEAH,,,,,, We are supposed to have severe weather move through late tonight into tomorrow, so at least will not have to worry about driving in it to take the kids to school or to go pick them up... There may even be a slight possibility of some flurries by the end of the week. Not holding my breath on that one... Got my pecan pies made yesterday, turned out absolutely perfect, especially my crust(which is homemade) didn't get too brown,it browned perfectly.... So I have no more cooking to do only the turkey and vegetables and rolls which I will do that morning.... Well I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving, and please be careful, there is a lot of bad travel weather all over the US, for this travel season...so take it slow and be careful, we want everyone back in here on MONDAY with full reports....LOL

  13. ((((CAT))))), I know where your coming from, between the menopause, not wanting to pause, and then the financial slow down. It has been depressing around here also. Thankfully we will at least be able to get all our bills caught back up this week, thank goodness. I just hope the next couple of weeks are not bad weather wise, so dh will be able to get some good work in, and we can put a little money back for the holidays and winter emergencies.. So, just know that you are not alone, and that we are all here for you...... take care and don't stress yourself out,and try to enjoy the holiday... and remember we all love ya......
  14. It is a bright beautiful morning here, the rain has gone just in time for dh to go to work, YEAH, an actual full week of work... We got a surprise last evening.Dh's boss, always goes all out to buy christmas for our kids, (he loves christmas, but has no small children to buy for his are all grown), so he has sort of adopted ours. Yesterday Dh seen one of the neighbors drive up with a go-kart. He was wondering what in the world they do with it here, no one has anywhere to ride it except up and down our driveway. Well dh and bossman got to talking about it at work yesterday, and bossman let it out that the go kart was actually his. Yesterday afternoon, after they got off work, here comes bossman bringing that big ole go kart to our house. He said "here this is for Garrett and Corey for christmas". We like to have fainted. This is a $1400.00 go kart. We have been thinking of getting them one(dh used to race go karts professionally),but we were going to wait a little while. We spent all evening trying to figure out where to hide this humongous thing until christmas... We will just have to make sure the garage stays locked and the kids can't get in until then... Well need to clean the house and do the
  15. I usually don't go by a recipe either, but when someone asks about a recipe, I like to try to be precise about measurements and such, because my pinch or dash or season to taste, may not be the same as theirs....this way they can incorporate their own taste into the recipe.....
  16. Ok, on this recipe, you make the cornbread from the recipe provided down at the bottom. Let the cornbread cool, and then add it to the recipe at the top.....
  17. It's not actually that I dread the holidays, it is that I miss what I was brought up with, we always had the big Thanksgiving holidays, with the house all decked out, and then all the women went christmas shopping the next day, while all the men folk went deer hunting. Then on Christmas we all gathered again for a big feast. WE were all close then. But now our main glue is gone (mom) and everyone has their own families to deal with, plus the brothers and uncles would rather spend the day hunting than eating turkey. But I have my family now, and make the best of it. We have started our own family tradition. We make sure everyone knows that there will be a meal cooked, and whosoever wishes to stop by for a plate is more than welcome. It is just that at this time of year I miss my mom and dad so much....I am grateful for what I do have. HERES HOPING EVERYONE HAS A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!
  18. Buttercup here is a very good bread dressing recipe. 7 slices oven dried-white bread 1 sleeve saltine crackers 2 cups celery, chopped 1 large onion, chopped 8 tablespoons butter 7 cups chicken stock 1 teaspoon salt freshly ground black pepper 1 teaspoon sage (optional) 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning 5 eggs, beaten Preheat oven to 350* degrees F, In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, dried white bread slices, and saltines and mix together and set aside. In a large skillet, saute the chopped celery adn onion in butter until transparent, approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Pour sauteed mixture over cornbread mixture. Add the stock, mix well, taste, and add salt and pepper to taste, sage, and poultry seasoning and mix well. Add beaten eggs and mix well. Reserve 2 heaping tablespoons of this mixture for the giblet gravy. Pour mixture into a greased pan and bake until dressing is done, about 45 minutes. Serve with turkey as a side dish. Cornbread for dressing: 1 cup self rising cornmeal 1/2 cup self-rising flour 3/4 cup buttermilk 2 eggs 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 tablespoons bacon grease 6 slices fried bacon, crumbled preheat oven to 350*degrees F. combine all ingredients and mix well. Pour batter into a greased shallow baking dish. Bake for approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
  19. Had sort of humorous evening last night. I was sitting in my computer room, reading posts on Mrss. when I heard this weird noise, it was a rolling noise. I had no idea what it was. Then I seen something beind dragged down my hallway, turned to look. My new puppy(blue) had gone into the bathroom and gotten a corner of the toilet paper on the roller and pulled all the way through the house, straight into the kitchen. You should have seen us fighting the toilet paper to stop her. Then a little later, I was still on my puter, when I heard my dh make a weird sound, like he was trying to hide a scream, I went to see what was wrong, he was sitting upside down in the living room floor. His recliner had flipped over with him in it...He was practically standing on his head, he had landed in a corner. I couldn't help but crack up at him. It was a sight. WEll have got to run a load of
  20. PS> I worked in a cleaners for 8 years, but of course we sent our leathers to Atlanta to specialty company to be done,so do not know what they would use for ink stains.
  21. Spider, the best thing to do would be to call a dry cleaners who deals with leather or call a tannery. They should be able to tell you what to do... You could check the internet for leather tanneries. Maybe you could get a response that way. BUt what ever you do, do not put any chemicals or water on the ink, that will just smear it and set it. Call a cleaners or tannery first.....
  22. Honey, you don't need to worry about a big holiday, and with doing all that work. You just had a baby. You still have healing to do, they say 6 weeks, but you know you are still not quite yourself at times long after. You have a lot to do with a newborn on your hands, and your families should understand that. I wouldn't whoop de doo it, keep it small and simple.....
  23. MOrning everyone,Been busy this morning, I got up and spent 2 1/2 hours on my ds's bedroom, scrubbing it. and I also decided to get creative. They have this little bedside lamp, that when they were younger, they decided to do some art work on the lampshade. I have never replaced the shade, just could never think of it. But this morning I took some paints in there and painted the whole shade in white, then I took a nascar cookie cutter and traced outlines of race cars all over the shade. Then filled the outline in with green, silver, purple, red. Looks really cool. Now I am online, checking into finches (birds), I have four finches and we just discovered two eggs in their nest day before yesterday. So checking into how long it takes to hatch, and about caring for the parent bird and the nest... But now time to get in the other rooms and get to cleaning. I have got to get to the shower and get my hair washed. I did not get a chance yesterday. I can't stand not having my hair clean..... Oh well all have a good day, here's to all...
  24. Received ornaments from Theyd, becca anne, and from cookie. They are all so cute, I am Jealous of the talent here...
