  1. Seldie and Mistooke, I received your ornaments they are so good, where did you find your ideas? Thank you, everyone who has seen them has had a fit over them... Thanks again. My ornaments will be in the mail come Monday!!! Haven't forgotten.
  2. I was wondering around in here yesterday and seen everyones post on bean soup, you made me hungry. So got up this morning and put me on apot of bean soup, and made a loaf of homemade white bread. Can't wait until dinner, I am already salivating....
  3. Buttercup: Our nursing homes and hospitals used to have the cna training programs, but no longer. So it is either go through the community college or American Red Cross. My sister went the ARC and really liked it. So I wll go through there also.... Everybody have a good one...
  4. I had that same idea this morning, but mine didn't get a chance to materialize. Dh took the kids to school this morning, and they were without power. He went ahead and left them, but I called at 8:00 and still no power. So I went over to the school to see what was going on, their phone system was also down. While at the school we kept getting reports that the power would be on momentarily, needles to say it didn't come on until 10:30, it had been out since 5:00 am. I helped the head cafeteria lady and the principal take the ice cream out of the freezer and took over to a neighboring school to put in their freezer before it got ruint (as well as other cold foods). But thank goodness the power finally came back on... So I am now behind in everything I need to do today. Oh well I guess it can get done tomorrow..... I'm not worried about it. The sun finally came out today, so we can have a chance to dry out.....Hey everybody that lives in Tenn. it is being reported by weather forecaster that as of Nov.17-18 we could possibly have our first snow showers of the season..... Everybody have a good day...
  5. If you do a herb garden, make sure you plant chives, they are really easy, and will come back year after year, Or at least mine have for the past 2 years. Also they like a sandy bed........ Check out the P. Allen Smith website, he always has some really good idea, especially for herb gardens...
  6. Morning Ladies and Gents: I have been up most of the night watching the election. Our kids were out of school yesterday due to the election. Many of our voting precincts are in our schools, and due to safety concerns they declared yesterday a no school day for the students. But all are back in class today, It is rainy and stormy and pure miserable here today. I got on a roll yesterday, Quiltsy, I have decided that I am going to go through with getting my CNA license. I contacted the American Red Cross here in our town. They have the certification classes here.. For $700, it includes your books, state exam, and cpr and first aid certification. The next class is beginning November 22 and lasts until January 2005. Which what is 3 months? I just have to find a babysitter. We have a program here called WIA and they will help finance your courses. The Red Cross sent me the application and paper work that I would need to take this course over the internet last night.... So the main thing I have to do now is find a babysitter from 8:00 am-3:00pm. Mon-Fri. I may not make it for this round of courses, but By doolallies, I will the next set..... Well the election is over, and John Kerry just conceded, so It is Official that George Bush will remain our President. Well have to go get ready for the Bingo game tonight, maybe I will win the jackpot, so I can get the money for my cna classes
  7. Yesterday, the news released a very touching story here in our town, about a teen girl on her way to vote for the first time.... On her way to the voting precinct her car was hit by a eighteen wheeler truck. She was trapped in the car and had to be cut out with the jaws of life. She was taken to the hospital, she has some extremely bad cuts on her eyes and her face is bruised up, she had some serious cuts and bruises over a good percent of her body. The poor girl could barely walk, she was hurting so bad. But she made her family take her to the voting precinct after receiving treatment, so that she could vote..... I call that dedication and determination....

  9. Had to go out early today, had an appointment to take care of at 8:00 am. have about 4 loads of laundry to put away, and then dh is helping straighten up the house, since he is not working today, boss man has been on vacation for the past few days, hopefully they will go back to work tomorrow.... The only thing that I really have planned for today is to sit around and keep tabs on this election........ Everybody have a good day, and drive safe and be careful at the polls today....
  10. I would like to send out a warning about using this site, for ordering your vital records.... If anyone has used it with successful results, you are blessed.. One month ago, dh and I placed an order for his birth certificate through this site. They took the money out of my credit card which ended up being $41.00 for a freaking birth certificate. Then the next day when we checked the status of the order, they had canceled it. Til this day we still have not received a refund of our money to our card, and no explanation from the company..and know that there was more than sufficient funds on the credit card to cover the costs, so was not due to any denials from the credit card company.......I have tried contacting the company several times and to no avail..... SO BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!
  11. Thanks Snowmom for the post.... I voted last week, I voted with my heart and a clear conscious....... Everyone be careful while out voting tomorrow, and try to have a good day!!!!
  12. ROLL CALL: CAT HERE UNIKEMOM HERE Come on everybody, join in.... We went trick or treating last night, made a killing. We got three bags plum nelly full. When we got home the kids poured it all out on the coffee table, it was falling on the floor there was so much. Apparently most of the people in this town went to the block party, put on by the city. But there is always such a crowd there that you can't enjoy yourself,so we opt for going to the ritzy cul-de-sacs in our town trick or treating.. by 8:30pm, the people are tired of answering the doors and ready to close up for the night, so they start just giving you handfuls of goodies, We had one couple who still had a big bowl full of stuff left (she said they don't eat sweets), so they made the kids open up their bags and divided that big bowl full between the three and completely emptied their bowl. So the kids have enough sweets to last the winter They had a really good time, even though we just about burned up,it was 80* while we were out...... I got some really good exercise last night, I figure I put on about 6 miles last night in walking... My muscles ache today... Ok, everyone have a good day. Cat, I promise I won't be squabbling with anyone over the election, I don't see what good it will bring,,,, now the squabbling about whether or not the votes are tainted or double voters and all that I dread....... But hey, we will be alright were tough.....
  13. TRICK OR TREAT I will straighten up the house and then let that be it, for the day. So we can have a fun afternoon. Everyone watch out for those ghouls and goblins and have a happy and safe Halloween....
  14. I remembered, I sat mine back last night before I went to bed...Hubby got up confused.. He went through the house resetting the clocks, then when I told him, I had already done it, he had to go do it again........

    How about adding HOHOHOHO,,,,,LOL
  16. Sorry Peaceful, that you are having such a rough time this weekend, hopefully things will work out.... As for the news about the house we found, that has been nixed very quickly. The owner of the house wanted to a reference check on us. Which is absolutely no problem. But what he didn't know is that we would also have him checked out. We really didn't like what we found out. The owner of the house is a drunk, who is reported to come to your home in the middle of the night drunk wanting to sit and drink and chat. He has also been known to go to the neighboring house telling the tenants that they need to pay the rent or get out. (He doesn't even own the neighbors house, it is owned by someone else).... I called him and told him that I had him checked out, and that I was not really pleased about what I heard, and that we would have to think about it. Then a little red flag popped up. This man supposedly owns a car lot here in town, but his very own vehicle is all beat up... I know our sources were reliable sources. One of our sources is actually the owner of the neighbors house, and then dh's boss's brother. Who is best friends with the next door neighbors land lord... We are extremely disappointed. We really loved that place. But maybe we will find something else soon..... Looks as if we are fixing to get some storms, I am trying to get over this sinus headache, I have to go get halloween costumes ready for tomorrow. I talked one ds in dressing up like Judge Judy....LOL, he will look so good when we get through...... Everybody have a good day......
  17. We keep getting new members by leaps and bounds, I just about can't keep up with all the hello's.. So here is one big warm
  18. Good morning everyone!!!! Very foggy this morning, should be a nice day, but expecting showers this afternoon. Becca Anne, you must be contagious, earlier in the year we had thought about finding somewhere cheaper to move too, for we pay $650 for rent now. We are wanting to cut some expenses. Well we couldn't find anything that really interested us. Until yesterday dh was goin to a job site way out on an old country road, sat this real cute little farm house, with a for rent sign on it. So I called and asked about it. Two bedrooms, one bath, a dining room, and a loft upstairs that could sectioned into two bedrooms. It is hooked up for gas heat, the front yard is a big cow pasture, has a chicken coop, a work shop and a storage shed. The kitchen cabinet are not way up on the wall, like most, these are like what you see in the old little house on the prairie style, they look like they are hooked onto the counter tops. It is a beautiful kitchen. The owner came over to talk with us about it. and took us through it. He came to own the house, by the original owner was found dead inside (eery), but she was a very ole lady. So he bought the place and has tried to rent it for the past two years, but after checking the people out, he wouldn't rent it to them. Well we talked for quite a while, they have grandkids the same age as our kids, and it tickled them to death when they found out that I wanted to know about putting in a garden, especially when we told them about all the canning I do every year. Another plus is that come to find out they know my landlords (also dh's boss) brother. So he is going to get a reference from Lynn. We are to get back with them in a couple of days. The man is desperate, he owns a little mom and pop car lot, and he has sunk his money into updating this place some, he has a house payment due on November 6th. and he knows we are able and willing to give him the rent money today. Only bad thing is that we will have to change the kids out of their school, but luckily the school they will have to go to is another small country school, which gets good reviews and the bus will pick them up. It is in our same town, but is like 25 miles to their regular school. Now here is the kicker the RENT IS ONLY $400.00 A MONTH.......that would be saving $250 a month for rent. Our landlord already knows that we have been looking, and we know that dh had to have seen that house. Because we have been looking so long for a place like that. I guess we will also be spending Thanksgiving holidays in a new place. Oh well I wasn't planning on anything big this year any ways. Snowmom, you stay out of them there motel rooms

    MEN!!!!

He didn't like the casserole and he didn't like my cake. My biscuits were too hard..... Not like his mother used to make. I didn't perk the coffee right He didn't like the stew, I didn't mend his socks the way his mother used to do. I pondered for an answer As I was looking for a clue. Then I turned around and smacked him.... Like his Mother used to do.
  20. It started out as very pretty day, but just heard we are expecting some showers this afternoon, I pray that it will rain tonight and then get over itself, so tomorrow will be clear and dry. Dh is trying to get a full week in. I have done the everlasting
  21. Plan on putting mine in the mail on Monday!!!!!
  22. OH CAT, I know the time will be here soon, so please lace that cappucino with something really strong!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Puff pastry and phyllo are similar, but puff pastry is a lot thicker dough and way easier to work with, where as phyllo is paper thin and tricky to work with.
