    A Concern

Hey Buttercup, Mare made a post just last week, or was it the week before. Hang on for a few and I will try to trace it down....
  2. I used to freeze my milk, and I do keep the bread in my freezer, my stock just run low. I could have gotten to the store, was just to lazy and in no mood, to fight the crowds. But today I have to get it together and go do big shopping. One of the reasons I did let the bread and milk run low, is that the kids have gotten so used to having everything, on hand when they wanted it. So I wanted to sort of teach them a lesson, that sometimes you have to improvise, that just because you want a cola or you want a chip, it may not always be there. Especially with the weather we are having, and dh not getting to work much. So I made homemade bread for the bread, I used powdered milk for milk, and had tea, kool aid, juice and water instead of colas. I just want them too know that you can't always expect to have all the luxuries, just because you want them...Iknow they sure have been a lot calmer and doing better in school the past week...Not so much sugar or caffeine... you have to take in mind we got through 3 gallons of milk a week, it would cost a weeks grocery money to stock up milk for this bunch
  3. Ducky,, just about sums it up. WE are having some flooding problems around our neck of the woods. Several roads are closed, we have had power poles washed up, and several schools have closed, with still more rain and storms to come today.... Dh went and got us a live christmas tree this year, we have the lights on it, but that is as far as we got, will finish today with decorating it. Need to put on my waders and get to the store, in desperate need of groceries, milk, eggs, bread etc. I just have been in no mood what so ever to go to the store, so dh has been picking up whatever I tell him to get, on his way home. Well everyone have a safe, dry and warm days take care...
  4. I don't drink. But after being with her for just a couple of hours, I am more than way tempted.....
  5. Hey, guys and gals, now that we got CAT back, we now need to lasso DARLENE back in...OOOHWHOOOOO,where are you Darlene? Glad your able to get back on, missed ya. It is also pouring down rain and nasty here, expecting some strong storms later this afternoon. Have been on the weather sites and they are saying there is a possibility that the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys may be in for winter storm later in the week. If this strong artic air comes in like they are thinking it will. I hope, we need some snow, maybe it will get us into the spirit alittle more. We still haven't began to do any decorating. I can't get dh off his butt long enough to go up in the attic to get the things down, so we can get started. Haven't done anything today, other than cleaned up the kitchen. Dh is on his way to wal mart now to find us a smaller tree. We have one that is 7 1/2 feet tall and rotates. But we have to move everything in this house around to put it up,so decided to go with a smaller one this season. I know I will miss my pretty tree, Ilove to watch the lights twinkle as they spin, just makes it so much prettier. But this is what he wants to do, Oh well whatever, lets just get it done. I made a mistake and took me an ativan last night,so that maybe It would help to calm down my coughing so I could get a good nights sleep. I slept way too good, now can't get awake for nothing. Oh well. I hope everyone had a good weekend, and hope you all have a good day and stay warm and dry.
  6. I wanted and tried to watch this, but just as it was coming on dh's aunt came in the door. She and her dh have been separated for nearly a year now, and she thought that he was wanting to get back together, well NOT. He packed up and moved to Pascagoula Mississippi without telling her. So had to sit and listent to her. I would have more sympathy for her, but this is about her 5th marriage and every man she has married has ending up being an alcoholic, after being married to her. She absolutely drives them to drink. But, I sat and listened to her and told her what she wanted to hear, Just to pacify her.... so I didn't get to hear any of the movie....

    Sunday

I'm finally getting to straggle in here. I had to get up and straighten up the house, my sister and her dh, brought us a table, an old metal table that our other sister had fixed up. My sister didn't have room for it on her back porch, and she is getting a freezer, so asked if I wanted the table. So said sure. It will be perfect for my holiday meals, and for my bingo games. It is the farmer style table, long rectangular, I just have a small round oak table in my kitchen..So this will be perfect for the holidays, So will get started on cleaning it up tomorrow, and hopefully will put my christmas tree up tomorrow. Am also having to do the birthday thing. Today is my oldest sons birthday, he is now 10, thinks he is 20. He and his brothers are in the living room eating chocolate chip cookie cake and playing monopoly junior and watching the new Spiderman movie. So I am grabbing afew minutes of mommie time. Dh is taking a nap, he was up all night coughing. Getting ready for heavy storms and rain to move into our area for the next several days. YUCK!~~~. My sister had a fit over some candle holders that I made. I was playing around the other day, and My dh had just thrown away several of the try aol free cd's. I took those out of the garbage, and I hot glued a red, or white middle sized pillar candle onto the cd's. Then I went out side and cut some pine boughs and hot glued those to the candles, they made the prettiest little candle holders. I also drizzled hot glue onto the boughs to look like ice pellets.Sister couldn't believe it. She also had a fit over all the ornaments that all of you have sent. She loved them. Ok, I am through rambling on. Everybody stay dry and warm, sounds like next week we may have a massive artic front come through, our highs in the Tennessee valley are not supposed to get out of the low40*s and mid 30*s for several days. So stay warm and dry. Take care
  8. My favorite christmas of all time, has got to be from back in 1977. My father was the caretaker for the YMCA Camp Ocoee, we lived year around in the main house on the campground. So come winter time, we had free run of the camp. So this one Christmas, with permission from the camp director, we were allowed to use the main dining hall for a christmas dinner. We had every family member from both sides, well over 75 people, we had any food imaginable,,(it was covered dish). We had a nice big fire going in the fire place and it was snowing outside,it was the most memorable sight, being right on the lake with the snow falling. We had the hall all decorated with a big tree near the fire place and lights and just absolutely everything you can imagine. At the end, our cousin STeve, snuck outside and went downstairs to the bottom level of the dining hall,to the restrooms and put on his Santa suit, Then he came in through the side door. It was a wonderful night, especially with all the excitement of the younger kids seeing santa. These are the kinds of Holiday celebrations my family always had while we were growning up. That's why it is so hard for me now, because I can't carry on this tradition with our family. My family doesn't get along anymore, and his family never got along. But I do try to instill our own little tradition for our kids.....
  9. Morning everybody, I am slowly trying to pull myself together, so I can get on with my day. I feel somewhat better, but my head still feels kind of weird. I guess it's just full of yuck!!! I have got to pull it together here in a little bit, when dh gets home(he actually got to work today, that makes a full 5 day work week,,,whoooooppppee). I have got to get to the store, we have been without milk and bread for about 3 days now, the kids are fussing. So will go replenish their supply this afternoon. I got up and baked them a batch of m&m cookies this morning, so they would have something to snack on. I tell you it is bad, when this family runs out of milk, bread and something to snack on. WE never do that. Oh well I have my caffeine drip going, so maybe I will be alright here in a few... Everybody have a good day and don't fall off any ladders hanging lights, and don't spend too much money if ya shopping.. Take care
  10. Yes, Thank God it is Friday. I haven't been on during the past several days, so I have quite abit of reading to catch up on. I have been in bed sick with a light case of pneumonia..What a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season. BAH HUM BUG!!!! But I am feeling better today. I got up this morning and got the kids off to school and dh left for work early, and the baby is still in bed a sleep, so am grabbing some computer time. I am armed with a nice hot cup of green tea w/ leamon. I have some bread baking in the machine this morning. I ran out of regular loaf bread and am in no mood to go to the store, so I just decided to make it. I have about 2 loads of
  11. Good Morning everybody, I feel like I am in a tropical heatwave with our temps here, compared to your Snowmom and Theyd. We got up to 42* and expecting it to get to mid 50*s. So far this morning I have done 2

    winter

What I like the best about winter and being snowed in, is being snuggled up in my favorite quilt, with a good book, and a big mug of hot cocoa just chock full of marshmallows, and no where to go, and in no hurry to do anything..
  14. Dear Cat, I hate to tell you , that there is more snow on the way, read my post in Are You ready, Weather Alert!!!! This looks like it could be kind of rough, so take care and get ready now. Our rain finally moved out and cleared off for the day, is supposed to move back in by monday evening. I hope it doesn't I hope it holds off for a few days... I haven't done anything this morning, and I do mean nothing, other than read my morning papers and eat a donut for breakfast, YEAH KRISPY KREME, for a quick sunday morning breakfast....LOL. Hope everybody has a good day, and can't wait to hear how everyones holiday went...
  15. Got up this morning, dh had the kitchen all cleaned up for me, and the living room, then he started doing the laundry and putting it away. He knows that I listened for over a week with his moaning and groaning. He has the same intestinal virus I had, but I didn't have the choice to lay around. But now I have a bad cold, trying to get bronchitis. All at the same time I cooked that big meal for HIS family. So since I don't feel to well he is making up for it.....just work right on dear..... Made a bowl of turkey salad, so now we are completely out of turkey. The kids finished it off. Now working on getting ready for christmas. We have storms moving in for the rest of the afternoon, so will be cold and dreary. Oh well I'll just take me a nap.... Everybody have a good weekend.
  16. Congrats!! Don't work too hard....
  17. Our day was quite, MIL and Step FIL and dh's aunt came to dinner. After they left we did a quick clean up and then flopped to watch tv.. and that was the day..
  18. Karen: I am so sorry about your Thanksgiving being ruined. If there is ever a next time, file a restraining order against the girl, and if she comes anywhere near your stepmom and your dad, let the law handle it. When dear brother (if I am correct this is who the girl belongs too??) has too keep bailing the young thing out of jail. maybe he will get tired of it and do something about it then...personally I may have smacked a little respect into her tail.....
  19. ((((Motherearth)))), you are in our hearts and in our prayers...Please remember we are here for you.
  20. I am dh's mom and her dh came, along with dh's aunt. we ate until we just couldn't stand it, we cleaned up the kitchen real quick and after everyone left we FLOPPED , me on the couch, and dh in his recliner and watched our SURVIVOR.... I thought I was being smart, you know I made my dressing ahead of time and froze it, it was such a big bowl of it I thought there would be plenty for christmas also,,,not!!!They ate every last bite of it....and there was actually very little turkey left, which is very abnormal,,,, Now I am just sort of lollygagging around this morning, dh just took the rest of my ornaments for the exchange to the post office and mailed them off for me, since he had some things that needed to be mailed and needed to get more stamps and get the christmas cards ready to send out.... Everybody take it easy and get some rest, after all the work yesterday it is well deserved. Hope all have a good day......
  21. I remember all the HOlidays, that Mom, Dad my 3 sister, and 2 brothers, my aunts and uncles and sisterin law would all gather at mom and dads. We would trunk loads of food. We sit and eat all day, talk, go outside and play around then come in for round #2. WE spent the whole day being together. I really appreciate all the hard work, my dear old mom did for her kids to have that family tradition....I really miss it.. I have decided that next year, I will check into adopting a family also for Thanksgiving....I would like to instill holiday traditions into my kids, but that is not possible with what family I have left, and it is coming harder to do with dh's family. We did have a nice dinner with his mother and her husband this afternoon...When you think back on those days, it really makes you appreciate them even more....
  22. I am thankful for my dh, my sweet precious healthy children and all of good friends here at MRSS Love you all. I hope everyone has a very good day.. Hey here in Tennessee we had some snow showers last night, unbelieveable...... HAPPY THANKSGIVING
  23. I haven't had a chance to read anything but the newspaper lately, even though I have wanted to run to the library so bad I can't stand it. Maybe here next week I will get the time to do it...
  24. Morning all, It is absolutely pouring down rain outside this morning, has poured all night. We actually had thunder and lightning last night...Many areas in our town is already calling in flooding, several of our major creeks are already overruning their banks....Hopefully all will settle down this evening, supposed to be pretty and breezy and cold for tomorrow.. The kids all got me up early this morning, I had planned on sleeping in, too get rested up for all the work ahead. I have ole tom turkey thawing (he has been since monday) in the fridge. I will put it on to cook tonight, since I will be up late playing my weekly bingo game....Then all I have too do tomorrow is the vegetables and breads, and my banana pudding everything else is ready to go, just has to be thawed and warmed.....Dh's aunt and mom and lunatic young punk stepdad will be here....(as Darlene would say) weeeeeeeeeeeee.... Will do the housework today, so all I have to do tomorrow morning is straighten up and make beds....I am not working myself to death tomorrow, I making as easy as possible on myself...I think everyone should do the same... Every one please enjoy your day tomorrow, and please be careful with your travel plans....and HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING....
  25. I have a couple of recipes that I have already posted in the Thanksgiving favorites column, but there are a couple more that I will post later, when I have a little time.... Boy, I think we should all make sample plates and send to each other to taste, we will have a cyber Thanksgiving,,,everything sounds so gooooooddddd.
