  1. These are being delievered today from a local farmers wife. Apparently they had loads and loads of potatoes this year! I know 100 pounds may not seem like a lot especially if you have 500 pounds! Wow that's a lot of taters! No we don't have a cold room, garage or pump house. We only have machine sheds. Actually one is kind of like a stable. It's open to the elements. Neither of them have heat. Thanks for your suggestions and help.

    Blessings

  2. It all sounds reasonable. The only problem is I should have started it after my first c-section. Now it's been 6 years since my second one and my stomach muscles are nil. So I need to start at the very beginning. Sometimes I will sit and suck in my gut and hold it for a little while. Is that anything like Kegels?

  3. You scrub your entire house? Man if I was gonna do that I would have had to start last Thanksgiving!!!!!! I am just hoping to get the hearth cleaned off in time to start the fireplace!

    You go Unike!

I usually fix something like Turkey and Dressing, greenbean casserole, praline sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry salad, old hen and noodles, pecan pie pumpkin pie, some kind of fruit salad, rolls, home made butter, and whatever else.

For Christmas we usually do a ham and potatoes, greenbean casserole, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, rolls, and all kinds of deserts.. We also do some appetizers for both Holidays, like pickle wraps, veggie dip, veggie pizza, pin wheels, Can you tell we like to eat???

  4. Wow only 89 days until Christmas! It's approaching rapidly.. How do you and your family spend the holidays? Do you go all out to decorate your house? Go out and cut down the biggest tree you can find? What kind of food do you fix for your holiday dinners? Pumpkin Pie? Ham? Turkey and dressing?

For the first time in my life I am going to try and butcher a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.. Anyone ever done that? Have any tips? Do you string cranberries and Popcorn for your tree?

I make wreaths out of grapevines, and string lights on it. I love to decorate. Only wish I had more decorations! I tend to go over board but I think that's alright. I love to see the lights and garland and stockings around the fireplace as it burns brightly.

For those of you that were living in The Good "Ole" Days what did your Mama do to celebrate? Did she decorate the house? My lil dd and I have a favorite CD that we listen to ever year starting about now. It's called A Bonanza Christmas. It's a Christmas episode of Bonanza were Hoss and Little Joe and the cast sing songs. She loves it.

Anyway tell me what you do...

  5. Howdy ya'll! Ok I have a question.. Once all the harvesting has been done and our homesteads are laid to rest quietly until spring (except for the animals) What are your plans? Do you intend to read that book? Maybe start and finish a quilt? Extra baking? Just enjoying family time? Sleep a little extra?

I have a quilt I intend to get finished. And work a little more on the afaghan I started last winter. I always read more. Then I dream over the seed catalogs that come in right after Christmas! I love the holidays, and decorating my house and the expectations of my family over that big dinner!

So now tell me what you want to do this winter as the land lies dormant.....

    Buttercup!

  6. Good Morning Sassy.. They will need to know a few things before they can create your siggy. Like what sort of things do you like? How about a font color? Do you have a favorite? Then the folks here at SiggyWiggy (who are so talented) will help you out.. By the way Welcome to MrsS!!!

  7. Wow Cat you were up really early this morning! GOOD MORNING! Sounds like you did have exhausting weekend! We cleaned up the farm a bit. We have an insurance man coming today to look at the house for homeowners insurance. The yard looks much better! We finally got license and insurance on the van and the other 2 cars. I had forgotten to pay the premiums in June so they cancelled it. UGH. It took Dh's whole paycheck this weekend to do all that we need, I spent 66 dollars at dollar general and 55 dollars at the grocery store. Thank goodness I get paid today.. I had to borrow ten dollars from dd just to get gas last night in my van. I tell ya ten in that thing just doesn't go far! DD and I straightened up the house as bit as the menfolk were outside playing on the backhoe and cleaning up outside. Still have some more to do though. I need to get the garden fall plowed. And we need to start on the wood supply. Hunting season starts this weekend here in Illinois. Well that's bow hunting anyway. I am so glad that my husband isn't into that type of thing. I know guys that live around us that it totally consumes them this time of year.

I am sitting here at the table this morning and we have 4 kittens in the house. They are all playing like crazy! Silly little things. Oh yeah I made a peach pie yesterday man it was good. Think I will go have a piece! LOL. Take care ya'll have a great day!

  8. Hamburger Gravy over biscuits for dinner. At night Hamburger steaks with greenbeans and carrots, with a cream gravy to go over the top of the steaks. Lets see you could make bread, rolls, tortilla shells, you name it.. There have been plenty of times where I have made something out of "nothing"...
