  2. Good morning all! Yes indeed it is Friday! Clocks go back tomorrow as well as it's trick-or-treat night! Today little dd has a party and parade at school! I haven't been to one of those in a long time! She's so very excited! I have to work 1030-1 and then 4-7 but in between those times I plan on going to her school and being with her.

Hubby may get fired today. He forgot to tie off in the lift yesterday and even though he was on the ground they sent him home. Never had a safety violation ever, but he heard they were out to fire him over it.. PLEASE say prayers for him. Does something always have to ruin Christmas? As this surely would.. Just keep him in your prayers at 10am Central time today! PLEASE? Ok ya'll have a good day.. I am a nervous wreck over hubbys job so ya'll may wanna pray for me too!

    Love to you all.

  3. I usually buy homesteading books

and religious type books for our home library. I have some by John Vivian, I have 2 or 3 editions of Carla's book. Back to basics and several of Beverly Lewis amish fiction books. Speaking of Carla Emery, she's coming! A week from Monday she will spend the night in my home! So excited. Hope we have a better turn out than last time!

  4. Well lets see.

My Mom's Parents were 71 and 72 by the time she had me when she was 42. I remember little things about my Granddad he was bald.. He liked to drink whiskey, he'd hide his bottles in the well, or underneath his seat in the old International Scout he drove. I was 8 when he died. He was 79. The farm he bought when my mom was in highschool in 45 was the one I grew up on. We moved in when they moved to town. His Daddy was a bootlegger, we have letters that he wrote to Great Grandma from jail. That's history and I am not ashamed of it. Papa was a quiet man and though I was young I loved him. Mama I remember the best. I remember going to there house after they had moved to town. Gunsmoke and Lawerence Welk.. I remember her piano and the davenport. She died when I was 13. She used to stay with us sometimes after she went to the nursing home after Papa died. She made a humming noise constantly. It bothered me. She was a school teacher before she married Papa. One of my sisters still has the bell she rang that sat on her desk. I remember crying with my head on my mom's lap at her funeral and my Mom telling me I was selfish and that she was better off. Two years ago Mike and I got some old lumber out of a house in town, to help redo some of our house and build our chicken run. He took me into town one day and showed me the pile of lumber. And when we started loading it up I said "Mike this was my Mama and Papa's house.. Those memories came flooding back, the bran flakes the davenport, the front porch rails where we used to sit..LOL. Good memories.

I don't remember my dad's parents that well they were Easterners. And lived 12 hours away. She'd send us things at Christmas and birthdays and such. I met her on a few occasions. She died in 1996.. My twins were 6 and had never met her. My Dad's dad killed himself in 1981 when I was 10. I don't remember him very well either.

I never met my Great Grandparents. But I know a great deal of them from my mom. I know where they are buried, and where they lived. They lived in a place called Cornbread Bottom which is now under water..

Wow I wrote alot. But I had a lot to say on this subject. Because they are a part of me and although I didn't know them well I am proud of who I am because of them..

  5. I haven't received any yet either.. And that's okay with me, less guilt that way. LOL. Still need to put the ribbons on.. And get one more done.. Then I can mail them if I find boxes small enough... Tell your mom we miss her input here.

  6. Well I think we can all tell that Cat had wayyyyyy too much caffiene last night.. I don't really care if we are one day light savings time or not. I just have to go with the flow or be an hour late or early for everything.. Well oldest dd is coughing up a lung and having to run to the bathroom every few minutes to spit it out. Refuses to stay home from school.

One of the girls from work decided she was going to Florida for Thanksgiving. She is the one that works nights. So guess what? Yep that's right the other two of us that work there are going to have to make up her shift.. Thank goodness it's only 3 hours more a day. But she is also the one that works the weekends too. Yep it means the same thing. So I think I will take a week off during my kid's Christmas break since I won't have one for Thanksgiving. The whole thing really really makes me mad. She's a 20 year old if that lives at home with her little boy and her parents, and has another baby on the way. But I have a family too and I am the one responsible for making Thanksgiving dinner at my house. Can't blame her though I guess. But I work days so I can be home with my kids and hubby at night.

Another beautiful dreadfully rainy day here. So sick of rain.

OK OK I have complained enough for one day.

Carla Emery comes in 2 weeks. Actually it's 12 days now.

I am in no way ready. Anyone wanna come help, right now I am in the dilemma of where her and her hubby are going to sleep while they are here! Well it's off to work again..

  7. Evenin everyone! Well once again it's raining here in Illinois. Yippy Skippy.. Will it ever stop? I suppose it will just in time for the snow to start. The days are getting much shorter now. Don't forget to turn your clocks back Sunday morning. Then it will be getting dark around 5pm again..

I worked until 2 today. Came home with a headache. A nap sounds very inviting about now. But I need to go down and meet the kids at the bus. Since it's pouring rain I don't want them to walk down the driveway and get soaked. The girls already have some chest conjestion and coughs goin on I don't need it getting worse.

Tonight might be a good night for potato soup and biscuits.

  8. Still waiting to get mine hooked up. As mine is an older model it has a water resivoir but no plumbing to get water out of it except for dipping. I have seen Lehman's and know that they have a water jacket type thing that you can hook up to one to supply your hot water.

Wes I didn't know you had a wood cookstove. How long does it usually take to get it warmed up enough to cook and bake? I have people looking for some used stove pipe for me. Here it's 4.99 per 2 foot section. I need twenty foot. Which to me still doesn't sound all that expensive. But the cheaper I can find it the better. When I mentioned it a work this morning one of our customers said "Dang it" I think I just threw some away!!!!! UGH!!

    Have a great evening!

  9. Homey I just fell off my chair laughing.. That was really funny.. And certainly true. We hunt with our vehicles here.. Yes siree... Why just last week the neighbor down the road was leaving our house and went hunting.. Lo and behold that silly dear found him first! Burgers anyone?

  10. Joan? Since you do such a wonderful job, can you help me and slgrubbs out a little? She's wanting a siggy with something more motherly than the one she has.. I want something like an old fashioned kitchen.. If you pm me your email I could send you what I found and see if you can do anything with it.. Plus if you find anymore I would be interested in your suggestions!

    Have a great night everyone!
