  1. Does anyone know why my paragraphs no longer show up when I post? It just runs into one long sentence. Thanks for any ideas!
  2. It is another gorgeous spring day here! I just love it..before the heat and the bugs come in. I had to do errands in town and it was so pretty everywhere with the dogwoods and red bud trees all abloom. I got my drivers license renewed, groceries etc. When I got home I made a big batch of chili so it is simmering away for dinner tonight. I'll just make some cornbread to go along with it and DH will be a happy man.
  3. It is gorgeous outside. I am gonna finish up my morning online stuff and then go outside and do something useful! I called my Uncle this am to wish him a happy 70th wedding anniversary. Wow..can you imagine being married (to the same person) that long? I need to buckle down and do my taxes later on today. I have been procrastinating on that.
  4. Today I am doing NOTHING! I am wore out from my birthday over the weekend and also yesterday we were poll workers. It is a very long day as you have to be there at 6:30 am to set up for opening at 7:00 am. You have to stay there until polls close at 7:00 pm. Then there is at least an hour of paperwork to finish up. Finally you go to the courthouse to turn in all your results etc. We got back home at 10:00 pm. It is a long day for us "mature folks". It is not hard to do, and kind of fun at times but that long of a day is tough!
  5. I hope you are feeling better Snow! I an thinking of getting a fitbit. I wonder if it would help me to be more consistent in my efforts. I have gone off my low carbs the past few days due to my birthday and all the goodies my DH bought me. Back on the plan today!
  6. It's been 3 weeks since our last accounting. How is it going ladies?
  7. How much do you pay for the internet and do you have any choices? We are in a rural area so around here our choices are very limited. The only fast option is available through a major cable company through a bundling option. Satellite is also available but is expensive and limited on data usage. Our electric coop recently added internet services through fiber optic cable. They promised lower rates but they are nearly the exact same price as Charter is. I am surprised the coop charges so much since the taxpayer paid for the cable system. The fiber optic is also much slower than the cable company is. I keep waiting for a good basic deal but it isn't happening.
  8. I am doing some planning here. Mainly trying to decide what types of peppers and maters to grow. We will probably grow less this year. DH is just having a harder time doing physical things. We will probably put more things in large containers too. Hopefully it will help keep down weeding. It will be spring before we know it.
  9. Be sure to read the labels. There are classifications of motor oils. Dollar General is now being sued for selling oil that is not meant to be used in newer car engines. This can potentially damage your engine and cost big bucks in the long run!
  10. Unexpected snow day today. They predicted a light dusting and it's been snowing for 4 hours! I am trying to do a bunch of housework jobs that I have been putting off. I am also cooking a nice aromatic pork roast. DH is glad!
  11. Go Snow Go! I think when I get some extra money someday..I am getting a FitBit/Pedometer type thingy to figure out my steps. Maybe it will encourage me.
  12. After getting a nice little check today, I thought it would be good time to bring up this topic again. It really pays to keep an eye on class action lawsuits. They are frequently printed in a simple black format in magazines and newspapers. Recently Star Kist had one which offered consumers $50 for allegedly deliberately underfilling their product. Some of the class actions tell you upfront how much money or coupons you are entitled too, while other settlements depend on how many people fill out the claims. Most can be applied for online. You can also print out claim forms and mail them in if you prefer. The larger claims usually require proof of purchase but smaller ones don't. (After all, who keeps tuna receipts?)
  13. MEOW!!! Hope your day was wonderful.
  14. I managed to gain a few pounds in the past two weeks. I really can't figure out why. Maybe I need a new diet program to kick start things again.
  15. Thanks for posting this Snow! I love to see the ornaments every year.
  16. Print yourself a coupon for Moe's southwestern grill here. Get a burrito for free when you buy one. http://www.moes.com/bogo
  17. Instead of using perfumed expensive talc I have been using corn starch. So far I have had great results and it is inexpensive too!
  18. Love your Betty Boop! How do you do so well with your exercise in that cold weather? I am impressed.
  19. It's always a good idea to check to make sure your local franchise is participating. Text OFFERS to 782929 to get a mobile coupon. Get a free 6 inch sub with purchase of a 30 ounce drink.
  20. I would have to go out of state to buy one. The lottery is illegal in Alabama. I could get to GA or TN in less than an hour. Ironically, one of the winning tickets was purchased where I grew up in FL. Wonder if it's anyone I know?
  21. It's a shame you have to have your eyes open ALL the time!
  22. Good for you Snow! I have managed to gain about 3 pounds lately. I have to stop that!
  23. It doesn't sound like any of us are off to a roaring start for 2016! I am sitting in a chilly house. The gas company turned off our gas Wednesday afternoon because they say we have a leak. So far, we have been unable to get anyone out here. Between it being a holiday and alot of other folks having to have repairs due to our record Christmas Day flood we are stuck. It isn't something DH can do..it has to a licensed company and inspected by the gas company. Of course, the gas company won't work again until Monday. We have gas heat, stove and hot water. It is at least fortunate that we have no little ones or company around. When I go back to work on Monday I will have about a 20 mile detour (one way) due to a washed out road from the 10 inches of rain we got last week. My poor sister is finally out of her coma but is unresponsive. Her ex DH will have to make a decision on Monday or Tuesday about whether to "turn off" the equipment or have feeding tube etc. installed. Even though he is her ex they have been living together and he does love her, so I know he will decide what is right for her. I am giving him all the moral support I can. DH is having gut pains and isn't hungry, which usually means his diverticulitis is acting up. Often this means a trip to the hospital and massive antibiotics. On the plus side, we are alive and breathing on our own and ALABAMA won last night so there is hope. LOL. Happy New Year to ya'll.
  24. Tomorrow Sonic is selling their grilled cheese sandwiches for 50 cents. Just tell them you saw their internet ad and they will charge you only 50 cents.
