WE2 I know what you are going through. It is so terrible to have family or friends in the hospital for the holidays. I dread the phone ringing with my sister in the hospital right now. I am trying to straighten this place up a bit. If my sister's condition doesn't change, my much younger brother is going to come and see me this weekend. The reality of maybe losing 1 sister has reminded him of how precious life is. He has never been to this house and we are so cluttered right now. DH and I have just not been well enough to keep a magazine like home..lol. I probably won't get much done so he will have to deal with it. Hopefully we will have dried out a good bit by then. We have seen enough rain for a long time.

I'm scared to go near any stores right now...For those of you who are more brave, did you find any bargains? I noticed we didn't have very many sales flyers in our newspaper.

Ya'll are so sweet! I forgot to mention that we lost power last night for several hours. Since DH and I both use Cpap we were awakened in the middle of the night. The ground was so saturated with over 10 inches of rain that a huge tree fell on a power line and took out power to several hundred homes. You can bet we will both be crashing early tonight..unless the storms pop up again. As long as we don't get tornadoes, I can handle it. They had a very large tornado last night about 50 miles away. Thank God no one was killed or seriously injured.

In alot of ways it was not a good Christmas. My baby sister is still in a coma on life support. DS was still a snot (he is supposed to be a grown up) The weather was awful..tornadoes around and torrential rain. I left DS's early and it's good that I did because the state highway I had to use to get home washed out shortly after I got through coming home. However, the most important thing is that I have a wonderful hubby and somehow he is still with me after all his health crises. Blessings to all!

My son has health insurance at work..his new premium is $1200 a month for family coverage!!!!! Fortunately he makes a decent salary, but he is not rich. Ouch!

December 15th was the official date to sign up to start coverage January 1st. I shopped around since they had really jacked up my premium. Instead of the nearly 300% increae they wanted I lowered my coverage and got higher deductibles etc. Now it is only going up 16%. This is better than the original quote but it is less coverage. DH is on Medicare and all of his medical insurances and deductibles also went up..however since there is officially no inflation there was NO social security increase for 2016 and my part time minimum wage job will not be increasing either.

I have had a rough patch too lately but at least DH and I are not sick! I went on a carb binge yesterday after a year of being very good. It's all DH's fault..he MADE me eat Mexican food like a taco , beans and chips. LOL. I just have to get back with the program today.

Last night was leftover night. We had reheated meatloaf with gravy, ginger honey carrots, fried leftover baked potatoes and the last bit of a cake. Tonight I am making baked flounder, mac & cheese and fried cabbage.

As much as I love to save money I will not go out shopping during these big sales. I just don't like being in a big crowd of eager shoppers. My Granny thrived on these kind of sales, but I guess I didn't inherit her shoppping genes! Are you going out or shopping online for the big bargains?

It's that time of year to evaluate your insurance choices for 2016. A wrong choice could be very costly so don't skimp on spending some time doing research for your particular situation! Don't forget about your HSA if your company offers them. They help you save alot on taxes if used properly.

I know what you mean about stress. Things in life come up that make it hard to stick to any healthy program.

DH and I had something similar to this happen to us in McDonald's. The kids were cute and nice. I threatened to adopt one of them. I am a very cautious person and find it hard to trust, but in this case it was so obvious these were good kids. It might have been scary if it hadn't been in a very public area.

Our Sunday newspaper had a coupon on the front page for $10 off a $40 purchase. It was a small sticker so it was kind of hard to notice..keep your eye out!

Many restaurants are providing free or discounted meals next Wednesday for Veterans Day. Check out your local area and have your ID with you. It would be a good idea to call ahead about details. Some chains participating are Golden Corral, Denny's,Outback, Little Caeser's, Shoney's, Texas Roadhouse, Applebee's, Longhorn Steakhouse, Hooter's, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Red Robin, Carraba's, TGIFridays, Chili's and O'Charley's to name a few. Great Clips is also running a promotion.

MIne started acting up about 2 months ago and the guy told me even if he fixed it, it probably wouldn't last too long. I bought this used MacBook from him for 100$ to be on the safe side. If this one croaks I can still get my other one fixed if I have to. Maybe some day I will have enough money to get a new one!
