  1. How will the bus go over them unless all the cars are properly aligned?
  2. Since it is so hot I decided I would spend some time doing genealogy research. Our local LDS library is open on Thursdays. I hadn't been there in quite awhile and so much more is available online now. I remember the old days when you had to order microfilms and watch them at their library. I have finally cleared up 2 mysteries of what happened to some ancestors. I am still trying to find DH's great grandfather who disappeared off the face of the earth around 1890 or so...lol.
  3. Wow that is great! Nearly 40 miles is really an accomplishment.
  4. It's abut 94 here today and humid! I'll be glad when summer is over. DH had to go to the doctor but at least it was early before the worst heat of the day, I got even hotter when we got home and tried to use a handy man to help do some small jobs DH is unable to do anymore. How do people get to be so dumb? Don't know how to properly use mowers and other equipment. This wasn't even a young kid..this guy was 45 years old. He nearly messed up DH's new mower! I can't afford to pay for an idiot and I definitely can't afford to buy new equipment. I was just trying to help DH from getting overheated and maybe having a stroke or something. I guess I better learn how to run this stuff and do it at night by myself.
  5. The little town closest to us (population 8,000) is home to 2 famous retired singers and one of them died last week. He was the writer and lead singer of the song "I love you more today than yesterday" It is a golden oldie. I happened to meet him and he was a very nice man. Pat was the reason that Ricky Nelson came to Guntersville and gave his last performance before Nelsons fatal plane crash in the 80's. They were close friends. FYI Jeff Cook(from the group Alabama) also lives here. I have also talked to him. (At the Chinese buffet..lol) Kind of odd for such a small town to have any famous folks living there. There are also several big BassMaster fisherman and a few romance novelists here too.
  6. We are laying low today. It is too hot to go outside so I have actually doing some cleaning! (My last resort...lol) Yesterday we had to go to the big city for DH's cancer blood test. It is a 45 minute drive and it was in the middle of the day. It was 100 when he hit town. I am so glad that the used car we bought a few months back has working A/C. What a relief to be comfortable for the trip. Thankfully his blood levels are still good.

    Miles for July 3-16

You are both doing great
  8. On August 6th most A&W's will give free small root beer floats from 2pm till close.
  9. I finally got the bra I ordered on July 4th! It was just an old lady Playtex..you would have thought it was a lacy french bra from Paris since it took so long!
  10. All right ladies...has anyone got in any miles in this heat wave? I am sure laying low in this heat!
  11. Tonight is stuffed green peppers in tomato sauce, mashed spuds, fried green maters and spinach salad.
  12. We have 6 tomato plants this year and so far we have picked over 200 tomatoes! This has been our perfect tomato year. Almost everyone of them is beautiful and delicious.
  13. I'm cooking a huge pork roast that I got in the day old meat discount area. We will have it tonight with kraut, potatoes and home grown corn on the cob. The leftovers will be BBQ sandwiches this week. DH moved the new refrigerator into place which was a chore...I had to help. Then I handed him the tools while he cleaned out the dryer vent. I also mopped the kitchen floor after we moved the fridge. I also cleaned all the toilets and sinks..oh what fun! I also paid the bills and thought I deserved a little puter break before lunch so here I am!
  14. July 11th is free small Slurpee Day at 7-11. Enjoy a cool one!
  15. It will be very hot today and humid so we will be sticking indoors. I DO have plenty of housekeeping jobs to do unfortunately! We are being innundated with tomatoes this year. Nearly all are perfect in looks and taste. I don't know what the difference is this year but I wish I could repeat it again next year. Stay cool all!
  16. To celebrate their anniversary IHop will be selling their short stack of pancakes for 58 cents on July 12th from 7am to 7pm. ( I would check my local location before going in, to make sure your restaurant is participating.)
  17. I am using a free one month trial of Amazon Prime. Yesterday I made an order of 3 items. I thought they would be here in 2 days. I was wrong. 1 item will be here on the 8th. The 2nd between the 8th and 13th. The 3rd between 12 and 15th. The first item is apparently in their stockroom but to my way of counting it should be here the 6th and not the 8th. Is this common? Since I won't be using the movies etc. I am thinking I may cancel. I could have got the shipping free even without the Prime account and not any slower at that.
  18. I have had my number changed twice due to fraud on my credit card. It didn't affect my banking or anything else but I did have to cancel the cards and get a new one. One time it was being used in Australia which they caught pretty quick and the other time they tried to buy something but didn't know the zip code so it was stopped. I am so careful about that stuff that DH teases me and yet they still got my number. I suspect an inside job since it was the same company both times. I can only imagine what damage could have been done if it wasn't caught early. I hope you have nipped yours in the bud, WormGuy!
  19. I hope everyone enjoys their day safely!
  20. That is great, especially considering that you are having pain. Enjoy the 4th ladies!
  21. Hope all goes well for both of you Annarchy!
  22. I hope your DH has nothing serious Annarchy. It has been so hot here that I had to tell DH no outside work after 11 am. His health is not that great and it is just too risky for him. We just have to let it go until it cools down some.
  23. My premium went up nearly 100% last year. I had to downgrade to a lesser plan in order to be able to afford it. Next year our entire state will only have one company to choose. Blue Cross or nothing. They have announced that they lost alot of money here last year so I expect another big increase. I guess the whopping 1/5th of one percent social security increase will cover it! LOL. I read the average increase will be about $2.50 in 2017.
  24. DH is so happy. I made a fresh garden meal tonight. We had corn on the cob, sliced big juicy beefsteak maters, cucumber salad and fried brim. We grew everything in our garden except for the fish which we caught across the street today. Yummy and fresh. He had to top his meal off with the last slice of his pineapple upside birthday cake. (Not exactly healthy but it was homemade)
  25. I'm glad you weren't badly injured Snowy. 7 miles is still good with all this heat Annarchy.
