  3. Very nice! I love how colorful it is I really am enjoying making the crochet afghan throws I am working on right now. So relaxing and they make great xmas gifts too.
  4. Oh my, well glad your DH caught it! I would have screamed I'm sure cause I'm scared of snakes....shudder.....
  5. Congratulations to your family!!
  6. Nana I LOVE the curtains! That color is very rich looking. I had the same curtain rod issue in my LR before we moved, but decided valance rods for each window worked well enough to sell the house. Ingenious solution you came up with! A panty like that is perfect, lots of smaller shelves so you can fit it in and still see it all. I have one too now and I love it, but mine's much smaller!
  7. Morning all! Snow, what a yummy brunch
  8. {{{{{{{{{{Cat}}}}}}}}}
  9. Neat animals! We saw some at the Jackson County fair when we went on Saturday. The kids had fun petting them. But they are outrageously expensive for a farm animal! It was 102 out, but it felt nicer than Iowa at 80
  10. Here! The dip and vegis are delicious Snow LOL
  11. My Great Grandfather John Freeman fought for the North in the CIvil War. His brother died fighting in Tennessee, and he named one of his sons after him. His father also fought in the Civil War. My Grandfather fought in WW2 as a pilot of a cargo plane. One of the missions he flew his commanding officer was awarded the silver cross for. Both of his brothers also fought in WW2. Further back on my mom's side I have several ancestors who fought in the American Revolution. Don't have time this morning to look them all up. On my Dad's side, my great aunt was a Sea Bee ( I think that's what it's called) in the Navy. It's really humbling to think of how many fought and died for our freedom.
  12. {{{{{{{{{{{{Brigid and family}}}}}}}}}}} Our deepest condolences to you all!
  13. Happy Anniversary Momo and Mr. Momo! Glad it was a good one!
  14. That is horrifying. I sure hope they throw the book at him!
  15. {{{{{{{{{{Reci}}}}}}}}}}}} Feel better quick!
  16. I found my Overacher and Jones relatives Friday in the 1856 Iowa Census! The Jones family were right where I thought they should be in Sidney, Freemont, IA. But it turns out the Overachers were in ROME TOWNSHIP, Jones CO. not Rome, Henry, IA like I thought. I didn't have the county name before. Amazing how you just stumble accross these things sometimes Benton must have been a surname common to the area. I found a Benton township in Freemont county as well http://www.rootsweb.com/~iafremon/ A website about Mapleton you might enjoy Snow: http://freepages.books.rootsweb.com/~coove...western_35.html
  17. {{{{{Joan}}}}} I am so sorry for your loss!
  18. I can't believe I didn't see this post before now. Oh WOW! I think there may be something here Snowmom. Here's what I have Charles Minor Jones b. abt 1823 in New York married to Lydia Melissa Perry She was born in IL, then they moved to Iowa. children: Louisa Fedora Jones b.October 08, 1852 in IL George Washington Jones b. February 22, 1854 Anna Belle Jones b. April 10, 1856 in ,Whiteside, IL James Crockett Jones b.August 22, 1856 in IL married Izora Christina Overacher. The Overacher family lived in Rome, IA Joel C. Jones b. March 20, 1860 in IA Jenny Lind Jones b. August 28, 1867 in , Fremont, IA Rose Estelle Jones b. Sydney, Fremont, IA Frank Benton Jones b. 1882 in ID Note the Benton! Possible connection there? Perhaps a grandfather or uncle in common? Something to look into The whole Overacher clan moved to ID, and Izora's younger sister Sarah married Joel Jones. Frank Benton Jones's descendents are the ones I got the photos from that I posted on Cat's page. The man with the bicycle is Frank as a young man.
  19. I haven't got mine yet, but I have a bunch of books to get for DD's Literature Circle and I need to run to the used book store this weekend so hopefully they will have it. If not I'll just order it Monday.
  20. Happy Anniversary!!! Wishing you many more years of happiness together
  21. Happy Anniversary Momo!!! Glad you had a nice time with your hubby YAY! You all have no idea how difficult this usually is for me. I am so shy and last time it was 2 years before I made friends besides my H.S. ones who lived there already. I am also fortunate to have one H.S. friend here who lives 30 min away in Jacksonville. ( How funny is that!) So I think we are off to a great start as long as DH can find some work before Jan.
  22. Count me in! I'll have to go to our library here and sign up for my new library card. We can always read the other ones next. Good selections Joan!
  23. Yikes Nicholas is turning into a real Denis the Menace
