Judy Moist
We just got home from the doctors office,, we finally got his CD4+cell count and viral load count... his CD4 is 36, and his viral load is 500,000 copies... This is very bad news... they are starting him tomorrow of his medication, in hopes of lowering the viral load and raising the CD4's.. If the medication doesn't work and dh doesn't follow the doctors orders, and HE HAS TO STOP DRINKING COMPLETELY,, bcause it would be a highly lethal dose with of alcohol with these medications,,, or he will be dead within the next 2 months,, if that.... so having a rough time of it right now.. Just totally exhausted. but hanging in... I have to take him to the eye doctor Tuesday, they want to test his retinas, and then to a dermatologist here in a couple of weeks as well as a dentist... So there is the update as grim as it sounds,,,,I guess I will be alright,,, just taking it day by day,, and praying that the lord keeps giving me the strength to go through this... Link to comment

gardnmom
It is tough to watch someone we care about do this to themselves. Try to remember that life is all about choices, we can see what they are doing, but it is their choice. Link to comment

Judy Moist
WEll it has been a really rough weekend,, and not all in the good... I nearly lost dh this weekend... thursday evening he started having diahrrea, uncontrollable....and he was chilling... well Friday, he would not get up out of the bed.. I kept asking him if he was alright, and I made sure he had some ice water by his bedside, and told him to make sure he was drinking something.. well I came back a little later, and he was still in the exact same position, that he had been in ,, I asked again if he was alright, he swore up and down he was fine.. so I waited another hour and went and checked in again. he still hadn't moved. so I go in and turn the lights on and tell him he has to get up...he has to get some fluids in him that he is dehydrating... well he says that I will have to help him up... his body was stiff as a board. He was burning up with fever... I finally got him to sitting up, but he cuoldn't sit up on his own... I had to bodily carry him to the bathroom, and then get him back to bed,,, I sat him on the side and made him drink, but had to hold him up, he kept falling over... So I called the EMS team and they took him to the ER...they ran a spinal tap and every blood test in the book on him,, hid heart rate and his blood pressure were erratic and he was totally out of his mind... and his mind is still no better.... The doctors cannot figure out what happened.. they are still waiting on a couple of test that had to be sent to a lab,,, but these were infectious disease specialists and they still don't know what is going on.but they have ruled out spinal meningitis,, of which they thought at first this was what was going on. they let him come on home today since his diahrrea has stopped,,, but told him that he has to eat or the next step would be an eating tube...He is still extremely weak,, he can walk, but is very slow and unsteady, so someone must escort him whereever he wants to go.. the doctors told me, if I had waited the hour 30 minutes or 1 hour that a doctor had recommended me to wait after i had gotten some fluids in him..they said he probably would have died on the way to the hospital... they took him to our local hospital, but then transferred him by ambulance to ERLANGER in Chattanooga 40 miles away.. I had to drive down the interstate at 2:00 am in the morning,,,, we are finally home, and he has had his meds for the night, and is in bed resting... His dad came up from Pensacola, and his mom, aunt and sister have been helping me out,, they are all taking turns coming out to the house the next few days to help take care of him... I will not be able to leave him alone anymore,, he must have someone with him at all times... I had to chase him down the corridor at the hospital yesterday.. he got out of bed, put on his cap, and walked out the door.. I asked him where he was going,,,, he said that he was going out to see if they were out there waiting for him... I asked him who was supposed to be waiting for him?? He looked at me really weird and said, well He** I don't know what I'm doing...went back to the room and crawled up in the bed and went back to sleep,, he has absolutely no recollection of the past 3 days...I am to the point of being ready to crash... please keep them prayers coming... and everyone who is in the way of this new storm please take heed of warnings and be careful and let us know as soon as you can that your alright.. I am sorry also that I will not be able to participate inthe ornament exchange this year.. I truly enjoyed it last year, and have been looking forward to it all year.. but just don't know where I would find the time or energy to do anything.. But I love you all just the same.....
