Reoccuring Dreams

Recommended Posts

Anyone have reoccuring dreams? I keep having one about 2 times a month where I'm back in high school and I can't remember my locker number and I can't remember the combination to it.

I keep looking for clues and still can't find it. Every single time I have to go to the office and get the numbers. They get tired of me asking for it and I'm ashamed to in there and ask again. I swear I'm going to write the numbers in my notebook and in my purse but it's never there. I also can't remember my afternoon classes.

The dream is so frustrating and I always wake up mad at myself for not writing the info down.

The good dream about me being able to fly is awesome but of course I rarely have that one.

Pffft. I'm just grumpy because I was searching all night for my locker, the combination and my next class. I haven't been in H.S. for over 40 years.

Wow !!! you are not going to belive this, but I have had that same reoccuring dream most of my life. I have never known why. But in my dream, I could not come up with the right combination to that locker ! I have never even heard anyone talk about a dream like that. I was in my 20s when I started having it. It comes back now and then to taunt me. I am almost 60, so it is here too stay. ---So Jeepers, you are not alone ! - Cheryl

There's some pretty good books out there on dreams. If nothing else, very entertaining! God gives dreams (like He did in the Bible) to direct us, warn us, or perhaps to provide us the key to somebody else's situation. Just my thoughts.

I've had reoccurring dreams a lot of times, usually when I am stressed about something. When the stress eases up, the reoccurring dreams usually do as well.

When I have one, I usually visit the dreammoods.com website to see if any of the "meanings" they have posted fit what's going on in my life. If nothing more it gets me distracted :)

Joining Jeepers and Coasty in the Lost and Found. LOL I'm always lost in either HS or college. Simply canNOT find my classes. Get into the wrong classes. :ashamed0002: Trying to read my class schedule and it doesn't make sense.

It doesn't help when the rooms/buildings/hallways keep changing location. So I'm quite sure the author of the Harry Potter series has our type of dream too. :008Laughing:

MtRider [Now that I'm older, I'm usually in some need to find a restroom too! At least that part makes sense to me...what with getting up in the night for that reason anyway. ]

LOL! I used to have that same dream as well even as far as continually returning to the office to ask about combination and classes! Must be common!

I had a reoccurring dream for years that I was still selling Pampered Chef and I didn't have my supplies and that the hostess didn't supply the food. I also dreampt that I booked a show after I quit selling and didn't even have the correct catalog! I didn't know what products were available or how much they cost! frying%20pan.gif

Havent had any reoccuring dreams lately. In the navy when I worked on flotation gear, aircrew /pilot life vests it was the serial number in big block numbers on the long part from waist to collar part, black markered serial numbers.

Other times, it is driving a car, usually a station wagon down a ragin river. Ive had that one even in the very dry desert. Its about escaping my problems I guess. Im frantic and just keep going down the river for a time.

Never dreamed about a locker combination, lol. Thats a good one.

I panicked over my new bank card Payday, lol..... at the market, tried the atm, had to do pin twice, got it luckily the second time...took out cash and paid in cash, lol .... have not dreamed about it. Cant recall my dream from last night but it wasn't a nightmare. My nerves are just giving me shakey hands now. Not blood sugar related, I tested that. going to bed soon. Probably wont have a night mare but if I do it will be about walking 'straight down the hall at the VA hospital in Albany on Tuesday , all day, and the darn halls are not straight, they are like octagon sectioned and angled, its very disorienting and freaks me out. Yea right , man, just straight down the hall, you will see the elevators. uh huh..... then someone told me the wrong floor and wing........ gads. I need an escort. I get so lost there. Well it was better this time, but its very disorienting . lol. At least then I would have someone to laugh with while feeling lost and exploring til I find the right place I have to go to next, lol. And they had stacked my schedule. And it ran longer.

Um , ok, walked the last five miles home too. 16 hour day. so glad the sun hadnt set yet. It rained in an hours long deluge that night too. And I had thought about putting up a leanto and camping halfway home, lol.... so glad I didn't. Was thinking about listening for bigfoot hoots and howls, lol. Yea, right...... that was one heck of a rain storm. :sHa_sarcasticlol:

Rocks were rolling and crashing in the creeks again, and they were only inches deep by me as dry as its been.

nope, no recurring dreams or nightmares. and now....... sleep is in order. I keep responding to posts and not getting to bed. Its ovaltine time and bedtime past time! lol. Can I sleep in til noon? probably wont. well, maybe.......

Hope you all have a great weekend.

I am glad I'm not the only one with nightmares about school.

I have a few variations. Mostly it's that I haven't graduated and am going back to get my diploma, also only adult there.

The other school dream is that I don't know my class schedule or where my locker is. My locker combination was easy 38-32-36 and I never had a hard time remembering it because 8-2=6.

Anyway ... I also have nightmares that my parents have sold my car and I have no control over it, never mind the title was in my name. I know there's deep seated issues there. That's my most frustrating dream.

I'm having a lot of dreams where I'm being chased and I'm trying to get to work and I'm late and can't get there. :sigh: I need a different job.

Mostly on Sunday night / Monday mornings.

Falling

Since the beginning of time mankind has reported of dreaming of falling the most. First of all, it's not true that if you dream you are falling and you hit the ground you will die. I've yet to speak to any dead people who told me that's what they were dreaming at the time of their death! Falling in a dream is a red flag from your subconscious that something in your life — finances, a relationship, career, etc. — is rapidly going in the wrong direction. It means it is time to redirect the situation immediately! Falling dreams are also common for people who suffer from depression.

Being chased

When something or someone is hot on your heels in your dream, it's a good indication that you are avoiding something in waking life. When you get this dream, ask yourself, “Self, am I trying to avoid a confrontation with someone? Am I trying to get out of a responsibility or obligation? Or is there something from my past that I'm afraid might catch up with me?” Whatever the case may be, the message is the same: Stop running! Face the situation. Get it over with, otherwise the issue will continue to follow you ... and so will your “being chased” dreams.

Teeth falling out

This dream is not about your oral hygiene, so don't be calling your dentist just yet! Teeth — to your dreaming mind — are actually all about your words. If you dream your teeth are falling out, it means you need to take a good look at what you've been saying lately because you have been having loose speech! Perhaps you've been gossiping, or saying things without thinking about them first, maybe you are too blunt or you may have said something you wish you hadn't. This dream is telling you that some words have come out of your mouth that should have remained in there permanently ... like your teeth!

Back at school

This is one of those dreams that — even though you graduated 10, 20, even 50 years ago — you still continue to get. Usually, this dream is all about your job! Think about it, school is your first real job where you need to be on time, you need to be prepared and “have done your homework,” you are being tested and scrutinized, you want everyone to like you and you eventually want to move on up to the next level. Sounds a lot like the same pressures of your job now, doesn't it? You'll find yourself back in those cinder-blocked hallways, trying to find your locker, realizing you forgot about your test or even noticing you've nothing on but your Nikes, when you've got some sort of pressure or scrutiny at your job.

Spouse cheating on you

Unless you have a really good reason to suspect your mate of getting his or her pleasures elsewhere, I wouldn't start snooping through his or her drawers and pockets just yet! The cheating dream happens when your mate is spending too much time and attention on something that does not involve you. Usually the culprit is work. But it could also be the XBox or too much time with friends, etc. Whatever the case may be, this dream shows that you are feeling “cheated” out of your time with your sweetie. Let this dream be a wake-up call to you that the two of you need to find more quality time together.

3 easy steps to figuring out what your dreams mean

It's important to figure out what your dreams are telling you. They are intuition — the part of ourselves that knows what's best, they warn us, they inspire us, they let us know when we are going off track. So never dismiss them by saying “it's only a dream.” They have the answers you need right now for your life.

  • Sum it up into a movie title to give you that ah-ha moment.
  • Figure out the main conflict of the dream. How would you describe the main conflict of the dream? Are you trying to get away from something? Are you trying to find something? Are you fighting something?
  • Compare that conflict in the dream to your real-life day before the dream. That could give you clues. If you dreamt of running from a monster Tuesday day night, what happened Tuesday?

Ways to remember your dreams

  • Most important step is when you wake up in the morning, don't move from the position you woke up in. That's the position you were dreaming in. You will disconnect your memory from the dream.
  • Don't think about what you have to do today. Quiet your mind, and let the dream come back to you. You have 90 seconds before that dream fades away.
  • Whatever you remember, even if all you remember is a tiny piece, write it down. Dreaming happens in the same part of our brain where short-term memory is stored and if you don't write it down it will be gone after breakfast.

Last nite, I couldn't find my car! I'd parked over in a nearby tiny village and walked over to the larger town for some event. [like fireworks or something]. Then when I came back, the "tiny village" was a lot larger than I'd known and ...here I'd come walking back with others and was in the opposite end of town. It was also getting dark and I kept having to backtrack cuz I was completely unfamiliar with this town. As I was slowly waking, in some distress over trying to reach my car, I 'pushed' the dream into a happy conclusion. Helps in not being so stressed by the time you're fully awake.

But ya know what was so remarkable in that dream. I didn't have MS! I nearly always have MS in dreams, for years now. ;) It was pretty cool to remember walking all that distance like I was 'normal'.
