The WE2's
Caught chocolate mint patties at $Tree so was able to put back 3 quarts. I put a 300cc oxygen absorber in each jar and they're ready for sugary treats later on :-) I've never had any problem vacuum sealing chocolate/candies etc. I like the 300cc OA, even though some may feel it's overkill. I never waste my money on anything less than the 300cc's. I can always use 2 or 3 of them if I need them. Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
Drool. I just put up a boat load of cookies/crackers last week. I don't use OA when I vacuum seal. I'm probably just gonna be opening the jars often anyway. I need to find some space to leave my Food Saver out so I can do a quick reseal when I open jars. Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Keep a jar just for re-sealing. Punch a small hole in the top of a canning lid. Cover it with black electrician tape. Use the Ziplock hand vacuum and suck that puppy down! Then put the ring on it and yer done! You can do this over and over and over again, and the little ziplock hand vacuum doesn't take up any room. I keep mine (all 3 of them) in a plastic bag where I can reach in and grab one. Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Vacuum sealed six trays of dehydrated, diced tomatoes into 1 1/2 pint jars :-) Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Got the dehydrating done for today :-) Still have 4 more #10's of diced tomatoes to do though, but...they'll wait. Gave us 9 half pints of dried produce :-) Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Vacuum sealed "a bunch" of bags of hamburger this morning, quit at lunch to have a bite to eat and get some of my "mess" cleaned up. Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
In spite of my back giving me fits, I was able to sit on the floor and get all of the nuts I bought and raisins etc. in little jars and vacuum sealed today. So all of my nuts, seeds and dried fruit are sealed and in their boxes. Now if I just had a place other than my kitchen table to store them I'd be a happy camper. Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Bought a 19# tube of 90% hamburger and vacuum sealed all of it into 1# packages for us. They're safe in the freezer :-) Also vacuum sealed the last of our green bell peppers (four of them) and put them in the freezer. They'll be fine until I decide to dehydrate them or use them in my cooking. Quote Link to comment
TheCG
Drool. I just put up a boat load of cookies/crackers last week. I don't use OA when I vacuum seal. I'm probably just gonna be opening the jars often anyway. I need to find some space to leave my Food Saver out so I can do a quick reseal when I open jars. I have the FoodSaver Jar Sealer (regular mouth), and I use it with their handheld rechargeable sealer (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002FWIVCA/). No big sealer required left on the countertop. Jeepers
I've tried those and I just can't get them to work for me. I got that one and another one but for some reason I don't have any luck with them. Maybe I'll give it another try again. It would sure solve my space problem! Â I'm the same way with electric can openers. I can not get them to work for me. I finally yelled 'uncle' on those so now I use a hand held ratchet type one. Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
I have to deag out my "beast" when I'm doing large amounts of vauum sealing :-) For daily stuff, I do the "punch a hole in the lid" thing with black electrical tape and use my battery operated handheld Ziplock vacuum. I have the small handheld manual ones as well as a brake bleeder. I've found if I put my butter in a half pint jar and do the punch thing, I can leave my butter out and it lasts a lot longer. Also, put my partial onion in a jar and vacuum seal it...no smelly in the frig :-) Love to save money vacuum sealing opened jars Quote Link to comment

Electric can openers and I have an agreement. I leave them alone, and they leave me alone. Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
From The CG: Electric can openers and I have an agreement. I leave them alone, and they leave me alone. Â Â We have the same agreement after I spent too much money for nothing. Believe me, I tried. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
I gave up on them way back in the early '80's. Â MtRider Humph! Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Did some Amish store shopping and one of the stores had HUGE bell peppers...a big box (maybe ten pounds each?) for $5.00 so we bought 3 boxes. We shopping them up using the Vidalia onion chopper and dehydrted them...27 trays...ended up being 8 pints (i I remember right). Then was "gifted" with a 20# bag of Roma tomatoes, so we canned all day yesterday...8 1/2 pints of tomato sauce. Sure glad we have the Vita-Mix, makes tomato work much easier! We'll enjoy this stuff while we're waiting for our garden to pruduce. System wouldn't let me upload pics...sorry! Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
Dratted system. I love seeing your pictures. It won't let me post pictures any more either. Quote Link to comment

Annarchy
Is anybody working to solve the picture problems? When I get back home, we will be working diligently on fixing the problem. Sorry my responsibilities with my MIL has prolonged the process. Quote Link to comment
