    Aprons (1)

Yes, and I am sewing aprons, too !! I am amazed at how they can cost $50 or more for an apron.
  2. Perhaps is it like vitamin C, just something acidic and that is how it helps. I don't know. I take vitamin C and also Vitamin D every day.
  3. You canned pickled eggs ???? You do know they are considered unsafe to can...
  4. I have not had it turn brown, either. It is so good ! I am watching for markdown bananas.
  5. 50 lb. of Fuji apples. Today should be the last of them. They are so good ! Especially with the free price !
  6. I am canning tomatoes , tomato juice, and 2 jars of green beans.
  7. Yes, Violet says it is fine as long as the gasket it good, the over pressure plug is soft, and the dial is tested before use. You can even retro fit most of these to make them work as a weighted gauge canner. Nothing wrong with that old kind of canner. We have one at the office, even.
  8. What a good deal for you. I would be skippying, too !! I had to pay $1.49 a jar for mine. That has been the lowest price I have found. I got 10 jars. Oh, and I got large eggs 50 cents a dozen. Not sure how may dozen I have left. I have been giving them to some needy folks. At that price I can afford to to that. I want to freeze some eggs.
  9. Because the safe guidelines only cover the beans, not adding any other low acid things to it. You should never add any extra low acid things to your jars. Dried is fine since they have had the water removed. It is called "water activity". If you were to add anything extra it would change the ph level and possibly the density of a food. At that point it may need additional processing time. How much ? It would all be a guess.
  10. 4 packs of 4 cups each grated zucchini.
  11. Trudy, that was fine since they are both dried forms and will not affect safety.
  12. Violet says go ! Just be sure you add enough liquid to them so they are not too thick and dense. I think I would add some water or maybe even tomato juice. The tomato juice may give a nice flavor. Adding any of the dried seasonings is fine to do. Just not fresh onions, etc. Dried is perfect !
  13. Oh, you can always cut down or omit any LOW acid foods, like the peppers and onions, just not leave out any acidic things or cut down on the acidic part like the tomatoes. That, and of course, and bottled lemon juice or vinegar called for in a recipe. Go ahead and leave the peppers out or cut down on them, Trudy. If you don't miind a little sweetness, adding a pinch of sugar will help it not taste so hot.
  14. 9 half pints cinnamon jelly. My grandson asked me to make it for him.
  15. 23 half pints of marinated mushrooms. A couple weeks ago I canned pickled asparagus. Made 3 batches of raspberry freezer jam this week, too.
  16. I am canning 22 half pints of mushrooms. That will give me 40 jars. No more mushrooms from China for me.
  17. I do believe all of this is just for the Mark of The Beast to come into play.... You may not believe the same as I do, but this is what I am getting ready for. I will NOT take any mark.. I think they will be computer chips, just like we put in our animals. Hold on folks, I think we are in for some very interesting times. I would not have felt comfortable either about the tags.
  18. We have more than one pressure canner and prep the day before a lot of times, too. I have 2 pc's and you can stack 2 layers of pints or 3 layers of half pints. I can get done so much faster with those 2 tall canners. Plus, get up early and stay up late. Have meals fixed ahead of time so no time stopping to cook. That and it sure helps to have others helping ! As long as you are doing what you can, that is the main thing. You are at least doing something. I really am proud of you !
  19. It happens to me, too ! That and when you click on a topic on a post it jumps, too.
  20. I have a brand new in box Presto 16 quart dial gauge canner I can sell for $50. However, the shipping is about $25 or $30...... That doesn't save any money. It would make it regular price with shipping. For my bargain, I found 14 one pound packages of the kind of hot dogs we eat for 50 cents each ! I grabbed them all and brought them home and froze them. They had some chicken ones, too, but I did not get those.
