  1. What if someone doesn't have a working oven?
  2. Good morning everyone. Unikemom, your DH sounds a lot like mine. He missed Mon and Tue this week from having this nasty cold going around, and instead of sleeping or just taking it easy, he sat up and played video games all day! Then wants to take another day off just because. Not a good idea with a one income family! Men! That's great for me, because now I will have money for the phone bill (but still I plan on having it shut off for a couple weeks for my brother's benefit). She came over yesterday and got an hour and a half massage. Then she even gave me a $4 tip! She said she wanted to give me more, but that's all she had. That's kind of weird to me, I'm paying off a debt, and she's giving me a tip for it? Oh well. I'm working on the ornaments, I have all the pieces for them, and have finished one, but am not sure I like it, I may have to try a third ornament. I've never made ornaments before, except with my DD when she was 6, and I don't think anyone wants any of our brown paper bag candy canes, lol. Hope everyone has a great day. Blessed be.
  3. I joined the freecycle group in my area, and have gotten rid of two large bags of women's clothes, a big bag of my daughter's old clothes, and a big bag of my son's old clothes. It works ok for me because I don't have a car and so all the stuff I bag up to go to our local clothing bank, usually sits here forever and takes up room. This way people come to my house and take it away. As for the rule about taking the first in line...well, I got about 15 emails for the boys clothes and I picked the one I thought sounded like they could use it most. If they don't come to get it, I will pick another. So for me it works ok, although it would be nice to offer to trade services.
  4. Good morning all. This stupid cold is finally getting a little better, I guess that means I have to get up and do housework again. Hope everyone has a great day. Blessed be.
  5. I'm sorry I didn't get to know Fran better personally, but through her posts, I got to know her and she will be missed. But I'm so glad she's no longer in pain. I know her God loves her and is glad to have her home again. We love you Fran.
  6. Good afternoon everyone. Slow today. Friday we all felt fine, but Saturday morning we all woke up with stuffy heads, runny noses, sore throats, and dry burning eyes.
  7. You are all amazing. My mom never taught me how to cook (unless you count hamburger helper ). I have no idea how to make something out of nothing, I see our empty cupboards and am at a total loss. I would love to know how to do it though, any suggestions?
  8. Good morning all. Dh and I have spent most of the weekend rearranging the living room and back bedroom. Usually it seems he just complains about the mess, but won't try to help figure out any solutions. Maybe the combination of the newly painted bathroom and our finally having shelves in our house (see, I've found good in my losing my shop), has helped. We have thrown a bunch of stuff out and have room again, I haven't started on the ornaments yet, I've been looking in my craft books, and have a few ideas, but I can't do any of them until I can get to a craft store and get a few things. Hopefully that will be soon. Today is DH's birthday. 30. He's starting a new decade. DD had said that was the top of the hill, but don't worry, it's fast on the way down. Now she's changed her top of the hill from 30 to 60 or 70. Thank goodness for us all. I got DH the second Lord of the Rings (the Two Towers) in DVD, the extended version, as if it wasn't long enough, 43 more minutes! Everyone have a great day. Blessed be.
  9. Good morning all. I am hoping to do a thourough scrubbing in the bathroom today. It is an odd bathroom for a trailer, it is bigger than the kids' bedroom! Why such a big bathroom in a trailer that is only 14' x 70'? So odd. I haven't really cleaned it since I opened my shop (in May!!!! ) would help out. No such luck, the gunk behind the faucet is so thick it's peeling. Too gross. THe creepy thing is that he never complains about the bathroom. Guess it doesn't bother him like it does me. If I can get it cleaned, I also want to paint it, that always makes me feel better, like having a new room. I have been going with a friend the last couple days to her dad's mobile home. He has moved in another mobile next to her house, and she is cleaning up and fixing up his other to sell. She has been working on it for a couple months now, her husband seems "too busy" and her daughters aren't much help, so I offered to help her. I've painted, cleaned, I even put trim in the windows yesterday. It wasn't pretty, but not bad for my first time. I think my DH is a little jealous that I got to do finish carpentry and get paid for it, and HE is in the wood business and wants to get into finsih carpentry, and has never been able to do it and get paid for it. Oops! She had asked me if $8 an hour was enough, and I told her that I didn't ofer to help her with the house to get money. She said she knew that and she getting help and I need the money, so shes helping me, so we both win. Wow, time to get DD to the bus stop. Blessed be all.
  10. How about making a drawstring pouch with washclothes (or handtowels) and putting the little bits of soap inside? That way you won't lose those bits down the drain, it works great for the kids.
  11. Morning everybody. Hope you all in the hurricane land are safe. I've been too busy at the Evergreen State Fair and at the shop too use this comnputer at my house in awhile. I worked as a concert usher at the fair, and saw the Extreme Motocross, Monster Trucks, Stacy Orrico, The Smothers Brothers, Sawyer Brown, Peter Frampton, and Tracy Byrd. Nice to get paid for watching concerts. Last Tuesday my business partner told me he didn't have enough money for the shop, and I can't afford it on my own, so we been busy cleaning it out. Where I'm going to put things, I don't know yet, I'm a little bit overwhelmed. Wednesday, DD started school, second grade! I don't know when she got so old, and it's only going to get worse!
  12. Ok, this sounds like too much fun to miss. Can I join too? I promise to try to send them more on time than I did the postcards. Oh well, not the right time.
  13. My mail came early today and in it was the lovely postcard from Lois, thank you.
  14. I think perhaps chocolate and peanut butter ice cream. Although there was one time about 15 years ago at a grocery outlet, that I found ice cream that was vanilla with chunks of chocolate, raspberries, swirls of caramel, and coconut flakes. That was divine, but I only ever saw it the one time!

    Leg Cramps at Night

Another thing to help avoid cramps would be drinking lots of water, especially with the heat. If you already have them put direct pressure on it, or have someone do it for you. Just press the area where it is cramping. Sometimes, the muscle is getting a wrong sign to shorten, when it really shouldn't be (think calf cramps in the middle of the night), so pointing your toes only makes it worse. The muscle needs to be elongated, but gently. If you pull your foot up quickly, then you run the risk of tearing the muscle, so try pressing the top of your "owie foot" to the bottom of the other foot, or against the edge of the mattress, so that you aren't actually moving your foot, but you are sending "let go now darn it!" signals to your muscle without tearing. Hope this helps.
  16. I got mine too! Hopefully I can get to mine quickly too, when did I get so busy? ( and why am I feeling like nothing is getting accomplished?!?!?!)
  17. Hi all, It's been awhile. My computer at work doesn't seem to want to send anything here, it keeps telling me something about an unknown host. I did the best at selling glow bracelets, and that was only because I had Aiyana selling them. So many people go for a little girl asking if they want to buy a bracelet for $1. She made me about $50 on those. She made $13 for it. When I gave her "her half", she told me to keep it and put it in her savings account for her (she's saving for a house). I sure hope my shop starts to pick up soon, I don't know how long DH will be willing to pay the rent on top of all the other bills! All I need is about 12 hours of massage a month, and I'd be able to at least pay all the shop bills. That's not asking very much, I don't think? But more people have been coming in telling me that someone told them to come in because there was some cool stuff in the shop. So at least that's good. Word is starting to get around. My dad got me a digital camera so now I can finally start doing ebay again. I haven't been able to do it since I started the shop, and I have so much free time at the shop, now at least I'll be able to do that again. I was making about $100 a month before, not much really, but every penny sure helps! Hope everyone is doing good, my prayers go out to all. Blessed be.
  18. School around here starts the day or two after labor day, after the Evergreen State Fair ends, so we have a little time to wait still.
  19. Oh, sounds like fun! Can I be on on this too?

    So..What do you all drive?

I don't drive anymore (got a ticket in massage school and forgot about it, hope I can pay it someday!), but my honey has a 78 dodge van (big black beast) that sucks down the gas, but also can hold our little dirtbike (a 70 for the kids), and our Honda Recon 250 (hey, does that count for what I drive? Last summer I had to take a friend to the hospital and as I was the only one sober, I had to take her boyfriend's 2004 Dodge truck, that was a bit scary! That beast was only 2 weeks old! But everyone is jealous that the unlicensed driver got to drive it, and he won't even let his best friends drive that thing!
  21. Hi there everyone. Hope everyone is doing good. Snowmom, that's fantastic about the ribbons! My grandmother puts things in our fair every year, people tell me I should, but so far I've never gotten around to it. Has anybody checked out FlyLady.net? I go there to try to get rid of the clutter. It has been the most helpful thing I've found for all the junk I seem to collect. Hope everybody is doing great. Blessed be.
  22. Hi everybody. It's going to another hot day here. It's already too hot for me to sit outside. Blah, the sun makes me tired for some reason. When I came into the shop this morning, I found a bunch of flies, ick. Guess I have to get a fly strip or something. I know there's no food in here, and no animals, except for my canary, so I don't know what they are in here for, except maybe they came in through the crack in the window since it was cooler in here than outside. My DD is here with me today, the last day of school was Friday and my brother would go insane if he had both the kids with him all day, especially in the heat, since they ask all day if they can go to the river! I'm hoping my aunt comes back from her vacation soon so she can make me some new flyers so I can get them passed out for Shindig. I should go and do my beginning of the week dusting. Hope everyone has a great day (after they have their caffeine and wake up, lol).
  23. Today is another sunny day. Yesterday there was no business, except for the people visiting for tent city, I got many thanks for putting out the water for the dogs. Today Allen, one of the tent city guys, brought in dog treats for me to give out. He said that if I put out another bowl for food, he'd keep it filled, he goes to Monroe and "waves a sign" to get money and dog food. I sat outside most of the day yesterday, and my arms are burnt, though they don't hurt, and my ankles are burnt. I was wearing capris and I have a red patch on each leg about 6" high and 3" wide, weird looking, I guess I should turn my ankles today? lol Hope everyone is doing good and is able to slow down a bit, sounds like a lot of busy bees around here lately. Brightest blessings all!
  24. Nice and sunny here today. Wish there were more people in town to come to the shop though, mostly this time of day, there's just the people who live in "tent city" by the river. I put a bowl of water out today for all the dogs that the tent city people have. It's getting too hot and the dogs walk around a lot and need to drink. My neighbor bought me a Reflexology book for my birthday. A friend got me a couple candles, a pretty pen, and some lavender linen spray. My DH didn't get me anything until yesterday (payday always seems to be the day after my birthday!), but he made me dinner, steak, corn on the cob, baked potato with all the fixins', for dessert, he bought me Butterfinger ice cream and a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. He bought me glow in the dark massage lotion, a new pentacle necklace with a swarovski (sp?) crystal disk behind the pentacle, and a Joey Ramone "doll". Collectible action figure? lol. Now I need to find the singing Alice Cooper doll. Hope everyone has a great day. Hope Fran is doing better.
