  1. SHEEZ! I HAVE A TON OF KITCHEN GADGETS,IT IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL I HAVE A PANCAKE FACTORY MAKER, OMELET MAKER FOR THE MICROWAVE, 2 BREAD MACHINES, FOOD PROCESSOR, KITCHENAID MIXER(MY FAVORITE), AND THEN THERE IS MY PIZZARIA PIZZA BAKER...You place the pizza on the pan provided and it spend around and these heating elements cook the pizza. There has been some bad press about this contraption, but apparently it is from people who aren't willing to learn to use it. It cooks the pizzas so much better than a regular oven. We could not ever find them in stores, had to order it over the internet....But love it........
  2. Been running all day am worn out. Had to take the oldest boy (10 ) to the doctor, he has a chronic secondary sinus infection. He has had this little cough(almost like a tickle in his throat) for nearly a month. I did the nasonex spray, that was prescribed for him a while ago for sinus infections. Also used the antihistamines, and decongestants and throat lozenges.Still no relief. I called the doctors office several times for an appointment, they kept putting me off, This time I made them make me an appointment. Or I threatened I would take him to the emergency room and then when I got through there I would call my lawyer. They gave us an appointment this morning. So I got him ready for school, he went for a couple of hours. I picked him up early, then we set in the office for 2 1/2 hours, this place was absolutely packed. Finally got out, it was too late to take him back to school, so just took him home and fixed him some lunch and then had to go back to the school to pick up my other son. Now am waiting on the pharmacy to finish filling his medicine. So I have to go back out again.... Still have no idea what is for supper, the breakfast dishes are piled in the sink, the floors need swept, and vacuumed, the house needs dusting, and beds need to be made, I have peaches that need to be canned and another load of laundry that could be done.......... And now it is time to start homework...... I have got to get this all caught up before BIG BROTHER AND AMAZING RACE COME ON....I DO NOT MISS THESE SHOWS FOR ANYTHING.........

  5. This fudge is a little different, but really creamy and delicious. You will not believe the topic of conversation your fudge will be when they discover the secret ingredient... 1/2 lb velveeta cheese, sliced (secret ingredient) 1 cup butter 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1 cup chopped nuts 2 (16oz) boxes powder sugar 1/2 cup cocoa Spray a 9x2 inch pan lightly with non-stick spray. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt cheese and butter together. Stirring constantly, until smooth. Add vanilla and nuts. In large bowl sift together sugar and cocoa. Pour the cheese mixture into the sugar and cocoa mixture. Stir until thoroughly mixed. Candy will be stiff. Using hands remove candy from bowl and press evenly and firmly into pan. Because of the amount of butter in this recipe, pat the top of the candy with a paper towl to remove excess oil. Place in refrigerator to firm.... Then eat up and enjoy.....
  6. Has anyone ever tried the Savannah Bow Tie cookies, they are delicious.. Here is the recipe> 1/2 (17-1/4 oz) pkg. frozen puff pastry (1sheet) 1/2 cup almond paste 1 egg yolk, white reserved 1/4 cup packed brown sugar 2 teaspoons milk 1 egg white sugar for sprinkling chocolate dipping sauce, recipe follows Let pastry stand at room temperature for 20 minutes or until easy to roll. Unfold pastry on a lightly floured surface. Roll into a 14-inch square. Cut square in half with a fluted pastry wheel. Preheat oven to 400* degrees F. FOR FILLING: crumble almond paste in a small mixing bowl. Add egg yolk, brown sugar, and milk. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until well mixed. Spread filling over 1 pastry half*. Place remaining pastry half on top of filling. Using the fluted pastry wheel, cut dough crosswise into fourteen 1-inch-wide strips. Then cut each strip in half crosswise to make 28 pieces. Twist each piece twice, (until it resembles a small bowtie). Place twists about 2 inches apart on cookie sheets lined with nonstick foil or parchment paper. Brush twists with slightly beaten egg white. Sprinkle with sugar (coarse sugar if available),, Bake for12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Serve with Chocolate dipping sauce. *Almond filling will be very stiff. To make spreading easier, drop a dollop of filling uniformly over pastry. Spray apiece of waxed paper with non-stick cooking spray. Press almond paste evenly over entire dough. Spray waxed paper as often as necessary to keep from sticking. CHOCOLATE DIPPING SAUCE: 3/4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1/4 teaspoon salt 6 (1.5-oz. milk chocolate bars 2 cups whipping cream 1 egg yolk, beaten 1/2 teaspoon vanilla In a sauce pan stir together sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Add back to pot and cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and pour into a serving bowl. Any remaining sauce can be poured into custard cups, refrigerated and served as pudding. These are delicious enjoy, check on the next post for CHOCOLATE CHEESE FUDGE,
  7. When my family went to Florida this summer I used this zipper bag trick on my childrens clothing, I put 1 pair socks, 1 pair underwear, 1 pant, 1 shirt into a gallon size zipper baggie. I did five baggies for each child. There was no fussing over them getting dressed, their clothes stayed neatly packed in the suitcase. I will use this from here on in. It is a sanity saver....when traveling with 3 small boys.....
  8. I agree, we get along way too well to be family.....

  14. There comes a time, when all mothers and wives have to through a doozie of a hissy fit. I do on a regular basis....My dh and kids keep wanting these animals, we have 2 dogs already, now dh wants a small house dog, plus our parakeet, and cat. They want these but won't feed & water them. I have too. No one other than me in this house knows where the dang garbage can is in the kitchen, dh and kids always put their drink cans, cigarette wrappers, candy wrappers on top of the counter, and god forbid they should put a plate or cup in the sink, it always ends up on the kitchen counter. So in comes mom's fit. Things get picked up really fast. There have been times when I have gotten my purse and walked out the door. Everyone asking me where I am going. I tell them I don't know, but once this house is cleaned call me on the cell phone and I will be back. They usually call back after an hour or two. When I get home the whole house is spotless.
  15. I just checked the stats on hurricane andrew in 1992. It actually started forming into a tropical depression on August 16th 1992. Made landfall near Homestead Florida on August 24th 1992. Then 7 months later a blizzard hit our area......

It is downright chilly, here I am sitting here in flannel pj's chilling,IN THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST!!!! This is becoming my theme song....IN THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST... DH AND I GOT TO GUESTIMATING LAST NIGHT. THE STATE OF FLORIDA HAS NOT SEEN A HURRICANE OF SUCH MAGNITUDED SINCE HURRICANE ANDREW IN 1992, I BELIEVE THIS HIT AROUND SEPTEMBER OF 1992.EXACTLY 6 MONTHS LATER MARCH 13 OF 2003, THE STATE OF TENNESSEE WAS DEVASTATED BY THE BLIZZARD OF 93. I WONDER IF THIS IS A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME???? I AM GOING TO GET OFF HERE AND GO PUT ME ON A POT OF PINTO BEANS...
  17. I put up 9 quarts of green beans, and 3 quarts of squash... I have been watching our local stores very closely. This bi-lo that I shop at a lot, deals with local growers for fresh produce. They will have unannounced sales during the week on their fresh produce. Like last week it was pole beans and snap beans for $.69 a pound. When they go on sale like that I will buy them up and can them or freeze them. along with the ones that I have grown.I also dried some fresh chives from my garden. Put some jalapeno, banana, bell , chili peppers in the freezer, will dry some onions this weekend...

In this copy of the almanac, it is says, that most of the US will have a cold november, and that it is going to be a wetter and snowier winter, (with snows starting as early as november...) earlier than what they predicted last year. Florida will be having a cold snap around Thanksgiving, and danger of heavy frost in Decemeber.
