  1. Mine was my Mom.. Growing up I couldn't wait to leave home. To marry Mike and never look back.. After I had the twins she became my best friend. We spent everyday together for the last 6 years of her life.. I was there holding her hand when God called her home.. Also in highschool I made many unlikely friends. Simply because I never felt I was above anyone. Most of them were guys who other girls wouldn't even talk to. I never dated anyone but Mike. And they knew that and respected it, they were just happy to have someone be nice to them.. Wow you just stirred up a whole lot of memories..

  9. Evenin Everyone! Well my stove is home! I am so thrilled with it! It's beautiful. Now I just have to wait until we get the pipe to actually use it! The family that we met in Michigan who owned the stove were just awesome! Homeschooling Homesteaders.. My kind of folks! Made me wish I was still homeschooling the kids! I did buy a new dutch oven at Rural King in Indiana for 19 dollars! I thought that that was a good buy too! Tonight I am just sitting by the fireplace reading on here. Anyone have any tips on cooking on a wood cookstove?? Homey has done her best to try and enlighten me! I am a bit thick headed at times and absorb all the info anyone likes to pass along. It's been raining here for what seems like a week! It barely rained at all in August and September.. It made up for it this week. Ya'll take care and have a good night! Buttercup

  14. One year when the twins were babies I took pillowcases and put them over their heads. For my son I put a necktie on him and for my dd I pulled it in two sections at the head and made ponytails.. It was soooo cute. And it didn't cost me a dime except for two old worn out pillow cases!

  17. WHY GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN) > To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students...here is something to make you chuckle. Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was "DON'T!" > "Don't what?" Adam replied. > "Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said. > "Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit!!!!!" > "No Way!" > "Yes way!" > "Do NOT eat the fruit!" said God. > "Why" > "Because I am your Father and I said so!" God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants. A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked! "Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit?" God asked. > "Uh huh," Adam replied. > "Then why did you?" said the Father. > "I don't know," said Eve. > > "She started it!" Adam said > "Did not!" > "Did too!" > "DID NOT!" > Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed. > BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY! If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you? > THINGS TO THINK ABOUT! > 1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up. > 2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children. > 3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young. > 4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said. > 5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own. > 6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in. > ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day. > AND FINALLY: > > IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE: > "TAKE TWO ASPIRIN" AND "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN"!!!!! >
  18. Don't ya just love that? I have it in one of my old amish cookbooks.
  19. (((HILL))) Oh Hill I am so sorry it's come to this. Although I am proud of you for standing your ground. It's just sad to believe that your marriage could end even though you love each other. Not because of unfaithfulness, lying, or not getting along. But because a mere child decided that's what she wants, and will behave very badly until that happens. IN a few years this child will be an adult and will have to stand on her own for her actions. Would there be any chance that even if your dh moved out with your sd that you and he could date and still have a relationship? Maybe even a secret one that the daughter didn't know of? I mean the last thing I would want you to do is lie and sneak around but my goodness if you love each other there's got to be a way. Or have you decided that once he makes his decision and it's her not you that you will end it in divorce and not look back? I am sorry if I am stepping out of bounds here. It's just depressing. Most people get married for the wrong reasons anymore. Not because they love each other. I have gone back over the past several months and read many of your old posts because I found you very interesting. From your Hillbilly Wedding until now. And I do see your love for your dh in them. I can't stand manipulation but I understand it well, I too have teenagers I know how nasty they can be at times. Ours play my dh and myself against each other and before we know it we are at each other's throats. It's stupid. I pray that whatever decisions you and your dh make will bring you peace. And if it's God's will I pray that he protects your marriage in the long run. She will grow up someday hopefully, and you and dh can live as God intended. I pray for your safety, the well being of your mind and the protection of your soul. Buttercup

  22. These are being delievered today from a local farmers wife. Apparently they had loads and loads of potatoes this year! I know 100 pounds may not seem like a lot especially if you have 500 pounds! Wow that's a lot of taters! No we don't have a cold room, garage or pump house. We only have machine sheds. Actually one is kind of like a stable. It's open to the elements. Neither of them have heat. Thanks for your suggestions and help. Blessings Buttercup
