  1. It is so beautiful and clear here today. The temp is supposed to be in the upper 70's. I guess all of the rain from last week has cleared out any dust or dirt. Princess is spending the day so we will be very busy. First we have to go buy our strawberry plants so she can plant them in the big barrels. She has been dying to do this! Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day!
  2. I've been to about 42 states but I've never left the continental U.S.
  3. Okay Darlene. I'm gonna come clean. I'm not as beautiful as I told you! Seriously, I'm sorry this happened. I'm sure things like this have happened to nearly all of us. Sometimes it's even with a spouse. Just pick yourself up and don't get bitter. Maybe you can put on the "Famous Dress" and go somewhere nice with DH.
  4. Cute Ginger. I never saw this one before.
  5. DH got me some beautiful petunias to join my ferns hanging on our porches. We have a 3 sided wrap around porch here. DS is going to BBQ at his house tomorrow. He is making steak, asparagus, corn on the cob, shrimp kabobs and a few other things. His MIL will also be there, so he will be busy taking care of us! For those of you who won't be having a "Norman Rockwell" type Mother's Day, I will be thinking of you and hoping that next year things will be better for you. There have been a few years that my son was a real %&*# and I know how much of a downer that can be. We Mothers, Aunts, sisters, grandmas etc. aren't always appreciated as we should be. Maybe some day your "family" will wake up and smell the roses. Hope everyone has a great day!
  6. We went out to eat tonight. It was very good. I had "todays special" 12 oz hamburger steak salad bar baked potato (which I brought home and will fry for DH later) DH had the seafood platter 6 fried shrimp 3 fried oysters 3 fried scallops (which he gave me) 1 stuffed crab 2 hush puppies 2 catfish fried fillets french fries salad bar Yum yum and no dirty kitchen!
  7. Thanks MM! Either you are a fast fixer or the problem resolved itself. I am surfing around at normal speed tonight. ( I suspect it was the former and not the latter)

    Kids!

So cute. I love the things kids say. Especially the way they look at things literally.
  9. Cat..The ones I just made were from a big batch I had made a few weeks ago. If I make them fresh I make a whole bunch and freeze the rest. I usually make them with potatoes and cheese stuffing. Sometimes I buy the frozen ones when it's just for DH.
  10. We had Meat loaf with brown gravy pasta with gravy and cheese for DH steamed asparagus strawberry cobbler for DH
  11. Well..it's finally quit raining. We may even see the sun tomorrow. I guess we sent our rain up to Mary! Oh Snow, the problem wasn't us getting out. We didn't have any drainage problems since we're on a little hill. It was that so many of the streets in town were flooded. The flash floods have all receded now but the river and lake are still high. Alot of stores and low lying buildings in town couldn't handle all the rain runoff. Too bad about Frannie. I sure hope she didn't slip on a wet step from all the rain! 39 degrees! Wow, I thought it was May. We're going to be in the low 80's tomorrow. Take care ladies. Put on your rubber booties!
  12. That about describes me too Mary!
  13. One of the few diseases I ever got. Had them in first grade and brought them home. Neither one of my parents or my baby sister had had them. Little sis was about 3 and she did fine. My Dad was about 28 and he got so sick. The only time in his entire life that he missed any time at work. He was delusional and talking crazy. DH got the shingles a few years ago and they were miserable! Hope I never go through any of these again!
  14. You have all primed my pump. Our late dinner will be Polish sausage Pierrogies for DH Kraut Green bean almondine
  15. Sigh..you both shame me. Wait a minute I have a GREAT excuse this week. We got about 8 inches of rain already. It's too wet and I don't have rubber boots. Plus, for good measure..the dog ate my umbrella!
  16. I was mean too. He sure appreciates it now. I guess the meanest thing I did was to "revoke" his driving privilege at age 16. He wasn't ready and had 2 minor wrecks in the first few months he was licensed. I told him no driving until I thought he was ready, I didn't care what the state said. I also warned him that the more he pestered me about it..the more I would know that he was too immature to drive. After nearly a year I felt he was ready and let him drive again. He's never had another wreck or even a ticket since. He also tells me now that I probably saved his life and he is glad I did it. Tough love does work. Maybe Snow should post that poem for us so we can all print it out and put it on our fridges. Or is it the same one that Ginger posted? Sounds like we have 4 mean Moms here!
  17. Frannie, they sound perfect for each other! What is it with Doctor's? DH and I have each lost our Dr.s in the past year. They were both young (in their 40's). They just packed up and moved with no notice. Hard to believe that "professionals" could act like that. After all the rain we've had lately perhaps you should plan an Ark trip instead of a bus. Have fun!
  18. I'm finally in! As if earthquakes, tornadoes and floods weren't enough it took me nearly all day to get into MrsS. I kept getting that darn errror page. The good news about all the calamities listed above is that DH's pond is finally FULL again! 8 inches of rain will do that. The bad news is we can't go to one of the nearby little towns or even to my DS's house in the city. Many roads are flooded. As long as DH has cigarettes and I have caffeine free diet pepsi we will be okay. Oh yeah guess what they are predicting for tonight? Lots of rain!
  19. Thanks Snowy! I'll try to try it out tomorrow.
  20. If you are trying to kill weeds in cracks of sidewalk etc. just put straight white vinegar on them.
  21. Motherearth has made me tired just from reading her post!
  22. Yep I sure am. That's why I put (for DH) by what I fix for him. So my friends at the gym know I haven't been cheating!
  23. Brigid, it's not really for me. It's for DH. LOL
  24. Another one I use for Princess is www.coloring.ws/cartoons.htm
  25. And don't be surprised if you have to wait for an appointment. I've heard that in some areas you might have to wait a few weeks or months. Just get the ball rolling! My sister had a very aggressive form at age 35 and fortunately found it in time.
