  1. Just wanted to thank you all for taking back your Siberian Express!!!
  2. Welcome Mare!!! Glad to hear you're aboard.
  3. Marys afghan story reminds me of mine. Many years ago my Aunt in PA showed me how to make a crocheted granny square. I practiced on a pot holder and then went home.(To Alabama) When I wanted to make another I couldn't remember how to start the center . Since I had the crafting fever I just added on to my potholder. It eventually became big enough to cover my king sized bed..all in one piece!!! LOL. Today started out awful. Couldn't get my wings to flip..A bad hair day. Then we went to breakfast at our local Bed and Breakfast and I had won the weekly drawing for a free breakfast. SInce I am still on lo carbs I had a western omelet with a side of country ham. MMMMMMMMMMMM good. Especially since it was free. Then DH and I took my "garage queen" for her little spin and got some more feed before it starts raining tomorrow. Managed to spend a little time unpacking the final boxes in the basement. Down to less than 10 boxes now. I made grilled (in my little toaster oven )fresh salmon for dinner. It came out good. DH also had fried potatoes with his. I made a nice bleu cheese dressing for the salad for both of us. DH had some apple cobbler for dessert but I was good. I promise. I am so glad the Canadians heard me and took their cold weather back where it belongs. Thanks.
  4. Theyd, look at the cheesecake recipe in the old wood stove forum! (Then come back here and make a comment)
  5. You can make it for me Frannie. Just leave off the milk, crust, raspberries and cornstarch!!!!
  6. I was thinking of starting a web page with alot of scanned family pictures. Anyone have any suggestions for free/cheap providers? Do you think I need to have it password proected?
  7. I can speak from personal experience that the lower ranks are VERY underpaid. Anyone under the rank of Sergeant usually can't even sign up for base housing and must pay for a home off base. It is not quite as bad for the single enlisted personnel since they can live in barracks but it is still a low paying job. We owe these people alot. Even in peace time it can be a very hard way of life.
  8. It got down to 3 degrees last night. When DH and I got in the car this morning I put on my earmuffs (for the first time ever). When we got in the car he looked at me and started laughing. I told him not to laugh so hard. That I would be wearing them from now on since they muffle his chatter. (He does have a tendency to run on). This afternoon he started yakkin' again so I put them on in the house. LOL! We have had more fun today fooling with those earmuffs!!! As you can tell DH and I do enjoy teasing each other.
  9. Homesteader

    Hey look!

Okay Sweetie,it let me in!!!! Yeah!!!!
  10. Homesteader

    Hey look!

I clicked on the envelope and all I got was a menu column and then an Internal service error message. It said to notify my webmaster so I am notifying you. LOL. Guess I'll try again later.
  11. Oh Snow I know what you mean. DS has never had it hard yet. He started a great job the day after he graduated from High school. He bought a new house for him and Sweetie to move in the day they got married. Never had to do the cheap apartment routine. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better for him if he had to struggle for years to have anything. Hope he never finds out how hard it is out there when you get laid off or sick etc. We did have it real rough when he was a baby but I don't think he remembers it much.
  12. Please remove your Siberian Express from the lower U.S. I have lived here since I was 20 years old and it has NEVER stayed this cold during the day. At 2pm it is at our high temperature of 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ocassionally it does get down that low at night, but then it always warms up when the sun comes up. For some reason the sun didn't help at all today. Perhaps some little gremlins (you know who you are) thought it might be amusing to make the rest of us feel like Canucks. Enough is enough...................SIncerely, with frozen tongue in cheek. Momo
  13. Becca Anne ( and anyone else) considering laminate flooring. Think about it real hard, especially if you plan to do it yourself. We put it in our kitchen and DH cussed more at that than anything else when we built this house. It is difficult to work with, unless you have a perfectly square room and don't have to cut anything. You will probably need more tiles than you think because you can only install them where the little edge hooks up. When you get to the edges it is difficult to slide in another piece if you are in tight quarters. I wish we had gotten vinyl or hired someone to do it. It is beautiful and durable but you can't get it wet. It will creak if it gets wet. Just wanted to warn you that's it's not as easy as the ads make it look to put it in.
  14. Cat..That's great!! Now you'll have 10 more hours a week to spend with us! You must look at the bright side.
  15. Is it Rummy 500? My Mother and I used to play that alot when I was little. I loved to play Canasta when I was a newlywed but that was many moons ago. Too bad we at MrsS can't play cyber cards together. (Along with our cyber food)
  16. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers!!
  17. A few days ago my computer either crashed or died. If any of you have tried to reach me through ICQ, I am not ignoring you. I just can't get into my old puter. Hopefully my DS can fix it for me. Fortunately, I got a laptop for Christmas and I tried loading ICQ lite on it. Guess what? It won't work. So I still have no access to ICQ messages. Anyway just wanted to tell everyone just in case they don't know what my problem is and think I put them on ignore. (My apologies to the lovely lady I was talking to on ICQ when my puter died. I can't wait to finish our conversation.)
  18. It is actually Wednesday. Right Snow? As for Loggie, you better check out MrsS. daily. Even if you don't have time to post. 99% of the time it will make you feel a little better. It was chilly today. I actually wore my jacket all day. Beautiful and clear though. We had to get some more hay today and stop in and help DS with a project he is working on. Since we were in town we went to my favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch. (Yes I was good!) I also had to buy some groceries so I would have some cheese for the foodfight! Dee, what kind of cards does your group play?
  19. Snow, don't confuse me. I have enough trouble remembering what day it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Oh Mayjobie!! Don't let Snow and me hang out to dry! (or melt in her case) Let it all out. We'll still like you. I'll even bring you some cheesecake so we can dish it out....
  21. I probably won't be able to make it tomorrow night. I am usually free on Mondays but my friend is having a purse party. Just like the tupperware parties. Anyway I need to go for moral support. Just trying to figure out how to avoid buying another purse which I don't need. See ya'll next week!
  22. Sounds like Homey needs some velcro on her a** so she can keep still for awhile!! Good luck to you!!
  23. A great but chilly day here. Only got up to the 40's but it was so clear! Princess spent the night last night. She is sooo precious. She loves doing the animal chores in the am with DH. Then we played Barbies and did jigsaw puzzles. Her Dad just picked her up so I am getting lonely now. However, my ears are getting a rest. LOL
  24. Oh Snow, why did you quit? I like it when you get warmed up. I know I had many times in my life when I qualified for government aid. I just wouldn't apply for it. I guess I figured as long as I and my baby were eating I didn't need it. I could have gotten him free lunches when he went to school but I figured my home packed lunches were better for him than what the cafeteria served. I also didn't want him to be teased by the other kids that he was "poor" cuz he had the "special" free lunch pass. I think we came out better in the end doing for ourselves. I think it may have been good for him too. He sure is a go getter! I don't have objections to helping people in true need. Especially those that do as much as they can to take care of their responsiblities. I don't like helping those who don't even try. So many people are sucking up money they don't truly need or deserve that it hurts those in true need. The REAL service disabled vets keep on getting cuts. I know one vet who disabled himself by driving drunk and collected disability and alot of benefits when it was his own fault he got hurt. The taxpayers paid for nearly a million dollars of his medical care, plus disability pay, reduced property taxes, free medical care etc. He is certainly not deserving this. A veteran who lost a limb in war does. Yet the service injured vets are having to fight for everything they do get. (By the way this guy continued to work all along but he was on 100% disability) Oh Snow...now I'm worked up. I better leave before I say too much!!
  25. Glad to have you here with us Mayjobie!! I was thinking the same thing about how many kids were standing in the line.
