  1. Gee Cat..sounds like a few people in your church have alot of nerve. I'm proud of you for not being a doormat. Being nice is one thing but letting people take too much advantage is another. DH does have diabetes. Dr. gave him a new medicine to try. Apparently the other one wasn't working. Hope this does the trick. Snow..it sure sounds like a good day to quilt or knit when it's that cold. The reason we told Princess that is because she understands about leaving home to start a family. We tried to put it in terms that she understands. Also, she will hardly eat meat already and we knew she probably never would if we told her about killing the cute cows and sweet pigs. Even DIL isn't too anxious for some sausage when we get the pigs back.
  2. Powdered milk is not as cheap as it used to be. In our area it is nearly as expensive as whole milk. Just like Debbielee said. You can still save alot by purchasing it though. In our case there are just the two of us and I only use milk for cooking. If I buy a gallon it will go bad before I use half of it. For cooking I just make up exactly how much I need. No waste that way.
  3. DH is an engineer but he's never figured out how that little thingie pops out to put a new roll on. He also can't master the art of closing the lid on the toilet. He's pretty good at most things but he is definitely not a bath room person. LOL
  4. I can't believe that no one has posted in here today! In all my years at MrsS. I can't remember this happening (Unless the forum was down). I just had to make sure we have at least one post in here today. I made it in the nick of time.
  5. Shop alone is a big one. This includes taking DH. He usually costs me about 20$ more. It's hard to say no to him. Saying no to the little ones is alot easier.
  6. Don't forget my personal favorites. Meatloaf sandwiches or leftover pizza. Yummmy. Of course both are no-no's on a low carb diet.
  7. Well DIL had her visit with her surgeon today. She will have a biopsy next week. He seems to think it's probably a minor problem but they can't be sure until they test it. Will let ya'll know when her tests come back. Thanks for thinking about us!!
  8. Snow I'm glad to hear that you and Old Pine are doing good. We found out that the reason that DH has been so tired all the time lately is because he may NOT have diabetes. He is having to test frequently for 4 days and we go back to Dr. on Friday with the log of all his sugar levels. I took the test mayself since he had the stuff here and was relieved to see my sugar is fine. I had to run him to eye Dr. today though cuz he had a bad spell. The Dr. thinks he has a degenerative type problem. Poor DH. He is just falling apart! I told him if his eyes get much worse I won't have to lose any more weight. I'll just tell him I'm skinny and he won't know the difference. DIL found out she has to have a biopsy next week. A good friend of mine who is only 31 found out she has a growth on her vocal cords and she needs it removed, plus a biopsy. I feel like I'm a Dr. or something today with all the health problems around me. I sure hope you've "chilled out" some more Cat. We want you happy and purring around here. Tomorrow will be busy again. Hopefully it will involve no more medical problems! Mayjobe...Dh has done the farm bit growing up. I never did though. We love having the animals on a small scale. However, when you only have a few they seem more like pets. Everytime we take one to the processor we have to tell the 4 year old Princess that the animal went to get married. Don't have the heart to tell her about eating the critters yet! Take care all.
  9. I'll report in next week. Einstein and Bimbo have an appointment at the vet and that's where I always weigh in. I'm pretty sure I lost some. I've been very good since early Jan.
  10. Doesn't it sound like Happygirl is telling us these from her memory of doing them herself? Wink..wink... (Momo is now running for her life as fast as her fat little legs will take her)
  11. Good ideas Reci! If anyone wants to make a heart shaped cake you can take a round cake pan and a square cake pan. Bake as usual. Cool , and cut the round cake in half. Set the square cake on an angle and place the round halves on either side of the square. After you ice it you'll never see the seam.
  12. Just a question. What is spring cleaning? Don't believe I've ever done it. (Okay, I'm leaving and going back to my proper region)
  13. Hope you are beating correctly Snow. Lovely weather for a drive up there. We took our 2 pigs in today. First time we've ever raised pigs. I'm looking forward to all the chops and sausages. A great time to be on a low carb diet. No guilt at all about "pigging out" so to say. DH went to Dr. and now he has to test his blood for sugar levels. I think his meds for diabetes is working toooo good. He is getting light headed and shaky. Will have to check it closely for a week to see. Beautiful day today. It is supposed to get chilly again in a few days though. DIL has her next test tomorrow. Am crossing my fingers. I did feel a little guilty about leaving the pigs at the processor's. They looked at me with their little pig eyes. If only they knew what was gonna happen. The cows have never bothered me cuz they were so much trouble I was glad to get rid of them. The pigs on the other hand were sweet and no trouble. I guess I'll think about them for months whenever I'm eating ham, etc. Sigh.

    Im curious

My post about 5 minutes ago took about 4 minutes to clear. Usually MrsS does pretty well for me but I am on a dinosaur (dial up and CHEAP)connection so I don't know which part is tooo slow today.
  19. Thanks Ladies. DIL will have a more comprehensive test on Wednesday. Hopefully we will know more by then. I appreciate all your kind thoughts. It will sure be a long wait!!!!
  20. This has definitely been a TGIF week for me. Today looks like i t may be slow finally. Only "must do" for the day is DH's Dr. appt this afternoon. Maybe if he gets out early I'll talk him into a little mountain driving tour to look around. I enjoy finding new views. We have alot of mountains, caves, lakes and rivers around here. Lots of beautiful scenery. Better enjoy it while we can. Alot of rich people are starting to move in around here and change the views. Yoo hoo Snow....Hope Old Pine is still doing good(and taking his medicine like the Dr. said)
  21. HappyGirl. You may not be too young. I have 2 relatives who had breast cancer very young. One at 28 and one at 32. Both were VERY lucky they found their own lumps since neither of them thought they were old enuf for a mammo. Don't want to scare anyone but it can happen at any age. Statistically it is less likely at those ages, but not impossible.
  22. May I ask which of your 9 lives are you on Dearie? Happy Birthnday. Hope it's purrrfect.
  23. Please keep my DS and DIL and the little princesses in your thoughts and prayers. She is awaiting the "official" results of her tests today but I have a bad feeling in my gut. Hope I'm wrong but you know how us Mothers feel these things.
  24. Oh Lowie, don't get me started. My DH's projects will be around long after he is gone. I haven't even mentioned the carriages waiting to be restored.
