  1. A dump-truck full of gravel was delivered and DH and I started spreading it over the area where the new garden shed will be located. Since DH is in a hand cast, he really struggled with moving the tractor around and 'slowly' dumping gravel from the bucket in each designated area. I'm the shoveler and raker. The shed arrives next week and DH works the racetrack this weekend. Finished the pad just in time.
  2. Generally speaking, the mild Ivory soap has been the go-to for spraying plants. That's also what I use when I need a sticker agent when spraying around the garden with organic chemicals. My grandma used to toss the dish water onto her flower beds when she was done with it. That was pre-Dawn days.
  3. Just in time for me to start spreading that FREE truckload of wood chips from our local tree trimmers. Not to mention the tons of manure I need to shovel and spread into the garden. Did I mention the seven cord of wood that needs to be cut, split, and stacked this Spring? Early on, the military was questioning the requirement of having all the troops get a vacc. When the rollout began, the paper stated that only those who wanted to serve on a submarine were 'required' to get it. Since men have to wait for years for the assignment, they were forced to get poked.
  4. She's always pilfering through my cupboards for medicinal cough medicines. Nite Mother. My doctor feels that asymptomatic people don't have enough virus load to get sick let alone give it to others. Since his wife, also a doctor, ended up on the city health department my doctor has been spending his nights researching and using up forests of trees through his printer. He used to think that objectors to the gene therapy were wackos and conspiracy theorists. He's changed his mind. He's also finding out that much of the non-mainstream researchers are having their videos and charts wiped from the net.
  5. The TracPhone is probably a G3 technology. We're up to G5 now. You'll find the G3 phones will give you more and more problems as the cell companies shut down that technology. The cell companies have new compression tools. The data packets are getting smaller and faster. The old phones are packet 'hogs'. Thus, G3 is going away. Besides, they want you to get new phones and new plans. Follow the money.
  6. I think I am past your age, and yes ... the hotter the summer ... the better.
  7. Smoke screen. Good one. Is that all you got?
  8. I learned many years ago to reuse the lids. I just unseal the jars SLOWLY with a spoon. If there is any indentation in the edge of the lid, I just tap it back into shape with the spoon. After a few years, the rubber ring starts to crack. The lids get chucked at that time. I read several years ago that the rubber compound has changed and we're not supposed to boil the lids anymore before canning. Just put the lids in warm water before sealing. The new rubber compound will probably shorten the life of the lids. Desperate times we're in, and I don't trust any of them because of their manipulations.
  9. About time you showed up. No one for me to pick on anymore.
  10. Live your life, MtRider. Make every day count and enjoy every breath that the Lord gives you.
  11. My doctor gave me another term to research yesterday. CYTOKYME STORM. He lost me pretty quickly but I did get a few words to stick in my brain. Overweight, obesity, immune system, fat cells, spike protein. He told me to start googling Cytokyme Storm before it was sanitized.
  12. Do some research on Preen. It's in pellet form and can be spread over mulch, chips, etc. Some formulas are for gardens and some for landscaping. It will save you on sanity. Lowes and Home Depot sell it. I'm sure Wally World also has it but I stopped buying there when the plague started. There will always be seeds flying in and eventually germinating to start the weed pulling process all over again. I learned that in one of my master gardener classes and used Preen in Indiana. I kept my sanity and sold the place the first day the For Sale sign was up. Good landscaping is street candy.
  13. We have a friend with Parkinson disease. After bike riding his shakes go away for hours. His doctor had suggested it and it has really helped.
  14. In another month, we'll be mowing our grass. I leave the dandelions for the honeybees, but everything else goes into the three baskets on the back of the tractor. Since I mow about 2-8 acres at different times during the Summer, a push mower might be a bit too much.
  15. The last I heard, the Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, was denied entry into Israel because he had not taken his second vaccine. Maybe he was to be part of that announcement in Israel about Pfizer's success in that country. His first vacc was in December, so the second one is a bit overdue according to their own mfg. recommendations. I'm sorry to hear about your brother, Mother. My brother was pretty sick with what he called a 'bad case of the flu' it but didn't end up in the hospital. The whole family came down with it and aren't planning on getting the gene therapy this year. They did agree to live a better lifestyle and lose some weight. Let us know how that Antibody therapy works on your brother.
  16. I did a copy/paste from a Milwaukee newspaper. Below is the ruling in PDF format. supreme_ruling_masks.pdf
  17. Today, the Supreme Court of Wisconsin AGAIN ruled against the governor's mask mandate. The state statute says that the governor can only impose emergency measures for 60 days. Period. Every 60 days after the first ruling, he reissued the mandate over the legislature's lawful right to reopen the state. After the second time the governor overrode the STATE SUPREME COURT, the court smacked him really hard this time. They don't appreciate a governor trying to do an end-around their rulings. Hopefully, this governor is a one-and-out one. Even though we are allowed to removed our masks in public now, most of us won't. It was just the fact that our governor felt he was above the law when it came to our State's statutes. MADISON - The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Wednesday blocked Democratic Gov. Tony Evers from issuing any new public health emergency orders to mandate face masks without the approval of the Republican-controlled state Legislature. In a 4-3 decision, conservative justices in the majority declared the statewide mask mandate invalid and ruled Evers exceeded his authority in issuing multiple emergency declarations over the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Evers used the emergency orders to require face coverings be worn indoors statewide after lawmakers opted not to. "The question in this case is not whether the Governor acted wisely; it is whether he acted lawfully. We conclude he did not," Justice Brian Hagedorn, writing for the conservative majority, said. State law says governors may issue health emergencies for 60 days at which point the Legislature must approve an extension. Evers has argued he may issue new emergencies without their approval because the pandemic's threat has changed, similar to emergency declarations over separate flooding events in the same river. Hagedorn said state law governing public health emergencies "must be read to forbid the governor from proclaiming repeated states of emergency for the same enabling condition absent legislative approval."
  18. Me too. There is so much disinformation and politics wrapped up into it that I believe very little anymore. I asked a few questions of my Dr. of Chiro yesterday and really got an earful. His wife, also a Doctor, was voted onto the County Health Board. She was so frustrated and so were the local citizens. It's one of the larger counties in the State. My doctor mentioned that his friend, who owns a large testing lab in another state, received a letter from the CDC stating that they were to lower their testing threshold. The PCR process uses the extraction method. Then I got lost when he went medical terminology on me, but they spin the sample at 48-50 cycles to get the sample. Three weeks into January, the govt sent the lab owner a letter telling him to decrease the sample spin cycle to 28-29. That's where it should have been in the beginning for viruses, he said. It will be interesting to see how the 'positives' multiply in the weeks and months to come. I've heard that before but not from a doctor friend.
  19. On my worst days when everything seems to be falling apart, I can be thankful that I'm not a helmsman.
  20. Mom's hospital bed arrived yesterday from Hospice. They have so many choices on mattresses these days. Mom was really set against it but slept all night and awoke refreshed. I was always praying every time she tried to enter and exit our high bed. DH had built a platform for her to use, but I was always afraid she would forget and take a big tumble (even though it was only 3" high ) Now we can raise the head of her bed so she can breath better and raise the knees so that she doesn't slide down off her pillows. I didn't realize how much it was stressing me every day, especially counting SEVEN pillows that I pulled off the older queen bed. I finally made a trip to Walmart yesterday to buy the twin bedding. I think I've been in there about 3 times in the last year. I'm not interested in bringing home everyone's germs to a 93 y.o. I've been able to purchase almost everything locally and try to help the family-owned businesses. I was surprised at the lack of inventory at Walmart for twin bedding. It's not that all the kids are going back to college right now. I finally had to order the flannel sheets off the internet. I wasn't going to pay $80-$120 for a set of sheets from Kohl's. No wonder they're about bankrupt. Yes, their products are high quality and I really like them, but mama isn't going to last another 20 years, and the bed will go back to Hospice after she dies. I did walk through the canning section at Walmart and found the last two boxes of wide mouth canning lids. I think they were around $3.50 a box. I considered those little gems the height of my outing yesterday.
  21. I've always been curious about retired German Shepherd military/police dogs. I saw a piece about them about 10 (?) years ago? They were available to purchase from somewhere in TX or OK. When DH croaks, one of these trained dogs will be welcome in my home as protector and companion.
  22. And, according to CNN, The USNS Comfort was deployed to New York, the epicenter of the virus outbreak in the United States, to free up capacity in the city's civilian hospitals so that they can focus on treating coronavirus patients. They had 22 patients with a capacity of 1,000 on the military ship.
  23. .... or if you want surgeries in the future, you have to be vaxxed? This will never end in a civil manner.
  24. People also need the florist shops for funerals. I know it's dreadful, but when we can't have funerals, at least the family can receive flowers in time for the church services.
  25. When we used to be working overseas at tax time, our CPA secured an extension for us with the IRS. The first deadline was in July and the final drop-dead deadline was October of the same year. There would be interest on anything owed, but it kept our blood pressure under control.
