  1. I've never heard of such a thing!!! Do you have 3 different connections to 3 different sources??? Does your property straddle some city/county boundary? Why can't one entity collect one payment and split the bill there? Soooooooooooo many questions. I hope I'm not being too "nosey."
  2. I like the rubber band around the spoon handle to keep it from slipping into the pot.
  3. The liability issue from papercuts??? Seriously? Kids today don't have the imagination to play with them.
  4. http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page 83,500 VINTAGE SEWING PATTERNS PUT INTO ONLINE DATABASE FROM VOGUE, MCCALL’S, BUTTERICK, AND SIMPLICITY Whether you’re an expert costume designer or have ever aspired to sew your own clothes, there is now a website with 85,300 vintage sewing patterns on it, including patterns by McCall’s, Vogue, Butterick, Simplicity, and many others. Because this database of vintage sewing patterns is a collective group effort, the number of patterns on it is constantly growing. Many have fond memories of visiting the local fabric store with their mothers to sift through clothing patterns and remember when the sewing machine was just as much of a staple in the household as a computer is now. If you long to recreate those moments and sew your own clothes, the Vintage Patterns Wiki website has a massive selection of vintage sewing patterns available for you, none of which came after the year 1992. Searching through these 83,500 vintage sewing patterns may sound like a daunting task, but it is actually much easier than you might think. For instance, if you hanker after a particular era of clothing and a style worn by specific people like Elizabeth Taylor or Audrey Hepburn, for example, you can search the database of vintage sewing patterns by decade. Besides searching this online database of vintage sewing patterns by decade, you are also able to browse clothing by designer as well as the type of garment you are interested in, whether it is a dress, bathing suit, jacket, coat, blouse, pants, a costume, or general evening wear. You will even find a section devoted completely to seasonal sewing patterns.
  5. Some of these I've seen before, and some of them were new, but they all looked easily do-able.
  6. YouTube and Google. How did we ever get along without them???
  7. Welcome Possum. It's good to know that new people are still finding us (or finding out about us) and joining the community.
  8. At least it wasn't Christmas decorations!
  9. Once my "new" phone was connected and BEFORE the tech left, I used my pre-paid flip phone to call myself. It went to a voice-mail answering system! I was NOT happy with that because my telephone has a built-in answering machine! The solution to the problem was rather simple, but not one I would have known if I hadn't caught it while the tech was here. He simply set the number of rings before answering to be one more than the set up I had for MY phone. (I have my phone set to go to the answering machine function after 4 rings. He set the digital answering machine to pick up after 6 rings. Maybe your MIL can call AT&T and ask them how she can change that so her own phone will be the default answering device.
  10. I have loss of different frequencies in each ear. The right one just doesn't hear well; the left one has loss in the human voice frequencies, most notably when men are talking. (Who wants to hear what they have to say anyway? ) AT&T just sent me a refund check for the balance remaining on my old account: 58 cents! You bet your bottom dollar I cashed it. I even gave the teller 2 cents.....I hate the new pennies--didn't want to get any back.
  11. I had a similar situation Jeepers. I moved within the same apt complex. When I called to transfer my phone service to the new location I also inquired about adding internet. My phone was supposed to be transferred and usable on Monday. No dial tone. I gave it till Tues. No dial tone. I went to the office to use their phone to call AT&T to find out why I didn't have a dial tone as promised. I have a hard time hearing frequencies in the normal conversation spectrum, and had recently acquired hearing aids. So, I am in the office, with "office sounds" going on -- printers, phones ringing, conversations, etc --while I am on the phone trying to straighten out why I don't have a dial tone. On top of that, the customer service rep is either talking too fast or not into the microphone, or.................... At any rate, I am having a hard time making her understand the issue. I finally get connected to repair service because I finally gave up trying to explain that they were supposed to transfer service and just reported the issue as being "no dial tone." So, they send someone out to check it. They sent them to the OLD apt because the trouble ticket still had my phone service as being connected there. Fortunately, my old neighbors saw him and gave him my new address. He shows up and has to create a new connection out at "the box." Yay! Dial tone! I have my hard-wired telephone service back again. Until Thursday. Another tech comes out Thurs to hook up my internet. It is a wi-fi router that is hard-wire connected to the telephone jack on the wall. He is about to leave and I ask him, "Where do I plug in my phone?" He says, "You don't have phone service." I say, "What do you mean, I don't have phone service?" He says his order says nothing about phone service! I say, "I want my phone service back." He says to give me a few minutes to check with the office. He comes back in and plugs my phone cord into the wi-fi router! I insist I want my hard-wired phone back. He says they don't "do" hard-wired connections anymore. Everyone/everything is digital! We hassled a little bit and I finally decided to give up on arguing with him and to call AT&T the next day. Long story short. I no longer have a hard-wired telephone. My phone is plugged into the router. If the power goes out, so does my phone. The AT&T rep suggest that I buy a battery back-up in case of a power failure!!! Not happy about the phone. But hey, I have internet!!!
  12. You can take it out the morning you want to cook it and defrost it by putting it in a tub or a bowl and allowing cool water to run over it. If you want to defrost it in the fridge I would give it about two days (assuming that there is a bag of "innerds" in the cavity). Either way you defrost it it should be fine in the refrigerator for 2-3 days before cooking it. *Disclaimer: not a food/safety expert. Just speaking from personal experience.
  13. But..............................it was a CUCUMBER! I thought I had it by the long end, but I must have been doing the "pinky-thing" cause the tip of my finger/part of my nail tried to be a part of the salad too!!!
  14. I am happy for you that you will actually be able to consume some carbs in a SHTF situation, but I don't think I could. Wheat and corn cause significant edema for me as well as elevating my blood sugars into very unsafe levels. And, as unusual as it may sound, these grains (corn in particular) exacerbate my incontinence (sorry if that's TMI) into being uncontrollable, even with my medication. I recently moved, and since this apt has less storage than I had before, I decided to give away all of those types of storage foods to the local mission: flour, sugar, corn meal, oats, cream of wheat, etc. They were happy to get it, and I was happy to get rid of it. Only wish I had decided to do it BEFORE I moved it all to the new place!!!
  15. I have some of these, and I don't even live in duck country. (Though I do love "Duck Dynasty")
  16. How is it that I can do a search on my name and it will bring up contents from 15 YEARS ago but can't find contents from 15 DAYS ago???

    About ME!

    self-explanatory :D
  18. It's supposed to be 110 F on Saturday! If you touch the car with bare hands in that kind of heat you wind up with a first degree burn!
  19. How many of you can relate to this???
  20. Your plants are doing very well for being in buckets. I had a bucket garden a few years ago and it is so hot here that everything just dried up and died. (even with a shade cloth to protect from direct sunlight)

    Hello?

Cat (and anybody else who wants to "reconnect")...... I have set up a FaceBook Group called Friends of MrsS for just this very thing. You will NOT be able to find it by doing a search because it has been set up as a "Secret" group. This means you must be invited in and none of the posts will be public. We have set up the FIRST online chat for 2 PM Sunday, July 16. Contact me by PASTING this link into a browser window https://www.facebook.com/patricia.clayborn.1 and sending a "friend" request. In your message tell me your screen name / user name for MrsS and I will add you to the group. If you are connected on FaceBook to Christy, dogmom4, gofish, snapshotmiki, or stephanie you may also ask one of them to add you to the group. IMPORTANT: This group is in NO WAY intended to replace or become a substitute for involvement here at MrsS! It is only intended for that need to "chat" with old friends in a real time situation. Hope to see you there!
