I agree with the other posters. I firmly believe one can recover faster at home. I am glad to hear he's gonna be okay. Be sure and take care of yourself MM. My family doesn't care for ground turkey. I wish they did cuz that price can't be beat! A friend gave us some ground venison. I've been using it a lot since it helps stretch the grocery money. We love deer but they aren't real crazy about this ground stuff. Dern picky eaters!!!!! mommafitz

Howdy!!! Yep, it's the day to start our work week again. We have a 60 percent chance of rain today. We sure have been having a lot of rain lately. Oh well. It makes my little garden happy. This morning is the final time our DS takes care of a friends pet. Everybody's coming home from vacation today. He has done so good! He has been very careful to feed all the animals exactly as he was told. He has proven himself and I think the elderly friend will be asking him to help out frequently now. Yay! We went to the flea market yeserday morning and got a parakeet. I have been waiting for weeks to get one. I had everything ready. He's a solid yellow one called a flutino. I have no idea how to spell it but that's the way it's pronounced. We're waiting to learn his personality before we name him. I made a Black Raspberry Shortcake yesterday. YUM!!!! Black raspberries are much sweeter and better tasting than regular blackberries. Here....have a piece with some vanilla ice cream.............. Almost time to get busy working this morning. Sorry I'm so late folks. I was rushed this morning before work. Hubby and I left early to have a quick breakfast and drop some mail by the post office before I went to work. It's just after 8pm central time now and I'm eating Manwiches and chips for supper. It has taken me until now to get over that terrible migraine from Thursday. Good mornin'! Just a quick post this morning to get us started. I am recovering from a migraine. Yesterday, it hit me and I was unable to function. I didn't get to go to work or anything. Mornin'! I'll be squishing lots of things into my day today but I thought I'd check in and get us started this morning. Snowmom, thanks for the info on Fran. If you'll pm me with her address, I'll send her some cards. I love cards. They are little presents in themselves, aren't they? What's everyone else doing today? It's 25 miles round trip to town now that we've moved. We have errands and appointments so I'll be running around later this morning until I have to go to work at 3:45. I can't believe I slept in this morning. We're not going to church. The OLDER son came home early last night cuz he felt ill so he's asleep. Younger son got to stay up late since it was Saurday night. Hubby worked so he didn't get to bed until about 6:30 this morning. I'm waiting on my coffee. I'm hoping to get some house things done today. mommafitz

Since I am working outside the home again, I have come to realize that I wish to be a productive homesteader. My current dream is to be able to raise most of my family's food, sell some handcrafts to help with living expenses, and just be happy. I have a plan forming in my litle fevered brain. If I can work like a slave for a few years, get things paid off, and help hubby purchase some property, maybe my dream could be a reality. Reckon what I should be doing now besides working to make my dream a reality? mommafitz

My stove is a ceramic flat top and I have used it successfully. I think the issue is if the canner you're using is flat on the bottom or if it has a curvature. With these types of stoves, it must be flat. The canner won't get hot enough if it's a curvature. I have a waterbath and a pressure canner. The house we're renting has a regular stove so I won't have to worry about that this summer. ( I sure miss MY stove!) mommafitz

My husband is suffering a bit of burnout from his job.(He's a county deputy.) We are trying to work out a vacation for him. He has plenty of comp time built up and a week's vacation to take before November. Since I must take advantage of having a job, I will be unable to do much. We have come to a great solution. He and our sons will go camping. There are wild places still in our large county that we are able to use. The gas should be our biggest expenditure. I will continue to work my wierd schedule and spend the nights with them. I'll drive home each morning and still be able to do my job. This way our home gets monitored, our pets get fed and loved on, and I still work. We have never went on a "family vacation". We have taken weekends here and there to go camping or to stay in Gatlinburg in the past. We will be married 20 years in August. Ain't that a shame? I think this week long camping trip will be the best vacation we've had. My bunch is very outdoorsy. They plan to fish, swim, ride ATV's, and laugh a lot. We have a cast iron Dutch oven they plan to use by cooking in the ground. Yum!! Sounds good , huh? mommafitz

Since the move we have really seen how we don't need a whole lotta stuff that we've accumulated over the years. It's hard to find time now to sort thru all this mess. Hi Guys!!! I'm at our local library using the internet! Our computer is down again since we moved. I do not have internet access right now. Hopefully, we'll get the computer fixed soon and I'll get back online. I hope everyone is doing fine. I only have time for a little perusal of the site so bear with me. I have limited access at work but I can't get to mrssurvival. I am now working 6 days a week but it's still just parttime. The move is over, thankfully. We enjoy the place but we're not used to the lack of privacy. The landlords are retired and are not used to having a schedule. We are very busy. We have the option of purchasing the house and property but have decided not to buy it. We are now looking for something . The move was so traumatic we don't want to move soon! mommafitz
